To think the responses to these TripAdvisor reviews are beyond rude!

None of the reviews are mine, I’ve never been to the place. A friend told me about the cafe owner’s responses to any negative reviews and I’m sat here open mouthed reading them. She alludes to reviewers having small penises, stalks their tripadvisor profile to read other reviews and slags off their photos, etc.

Like I said I’ve never been and won’t after reading these as I wouldn’t want to give my money to someone who sounds so —unhinged— nasty. Can’t believe someone who runs a business has so little idea about customer service.

Another with amusing but rude responses Grin

cookiechomper · 25/08/2019 09:13

She's trying to be funny but actually comes across as a massive bellend.

siring1 · 25/08/2019 09:13

A lot of people (7 pages) who would never have heard about this place are talking about this place.

She sounds clever.

brighteyeowl17 · 25/08/2019 09:15

There is an Italian near where I live where the owner does this. Would really put me off going if they are so rude to their customers. She sounds like a right cow bag.

TroysMammy · 25/08/2019 09:17

A local cafe owner used to reply unfavourably to not good reviews. The cafe which wasn't very busy anyway has now shut down.

LynetteScavo · 25/08/2019 09:17

She obviously thinks she's funny. I don't.

The reviews were whingy but didn't deserve the replies, some people are best ignored.

It doesn't look that great on line the tables look sticky, so I won't be visiting. So she's not that clever.

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 09:19

she sounds clever

She's a public liability, locking in customers who disagree and not recognising boundaries around allergies and veganism/veggie. Shes actually demonstrating a very discriminatory attitude. Its surprising that such a blunt instrument as her attempts to be witty trump her appalling behaviour for some.

She doesnt get my vote. I'd go somewhere where people are extended some respect

Agreed, a knob.

Oliversmumsarmy · 25/08/2019 09:19

Why should they get negative reviews because they don’t want to serve plants and shit to vegans lol

Because they advertise they cater for vegetarians gluten free.

Also vegetarians don’t eat fish.

I would question her safety in the food prep if she doesn’t know this.

Wouldn’t want to go there if you have a good allergy. Will it take a death to make her come to her senses

toiletseat · 25/08/2019 09:21

People who write long, deranged rants and lash out at anything which vaguely resembles criticism are the very opposite of clever, IMO

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 09:21

serve plants and shit to vegans lol.

Some wonderful discrimination there you should go work for her youd be in good company

toiletseat · 25/08/2019 09:23

Do restauranteurs with shitty attitudes towards vegetarian/veganism realise how incredibly backwards and offputting said attitude is? Your establishment, your choice of what to serve, but sneering at someone for daring to ask after a veggie/vegan option is scummy

EarringsandLipstick · 25/08/2019 09:29

She's clearly doing this deliberately - her rude responses are part of her 'schtick'

Some reviews report intentionally going to check out the owner and her customer service approach.

Also the vast majority of reviews are really positive.

EnglishRose13 · 25/08/2019 09:31

I can see the replies but not the one for "made my girlfriend cry". Could someone please screenshot it?

StarbucksSmarterSister · 25/08/2019 09:34

There's a restaurant in Skiathos which has a lot of great reviews on TA. I checked out some of the poorer ones last year as despite several visits, I'd never eaten there and thought I'd remedy that. The bad reviews were 90% about rudeness of the staff/owner and those opinions seemed justified by the owner responses. Here's an example:

"YOU stay away and keep your fkn money for a frozen mousaka. We dont need your bloody MONEY"

I decided he obviously didn't need my money either and stayed away. Grin

SimplySteveRedux · 25/08/2019 09:37

I think some times she is trying to make the point that people tend to not complain at the time/when asked how things are because they know they can go home and write a scathing review.

There's a rural pub near me that has a massive sign detailing complaints policy and how they will resolve any issues completely and to everybody's satisfaction but that chancers can piss off. You get the crowd who do nothing, preferring to write a review slating them instead. I was in there when the female half of the couple who own the premises was reduced to tears by an acerbic middle-aged bloke. Bloke was removed, by other punters, the owner couple are much loved locally, sure enough a review was live within the hour.

Ayla88 · 25/08/2019 09:39

She’s obviously mad but I did quite warm to her reading her responses! “Leave the jokes to me Simon. Leave the jokes to me” was a highlight.

If I didn’t live so far away I would be visiting her cafe to see her in action!

Oliversmumsarmy · 25/08/2019 09:40

As a vegetarian I have now vetoed holidays in this country because this attitude exists virtually everywhere I have been.

We have been served ham salad (We don’t eat pork for cultural reasons)

We have been laughed at

We have spent holidays eating only chips

When I go on holiday I go anywhere but the uk

ChessIsASport · 25/08/2019 09:40

My favourite one is when she tells the family that the chef has overslept and they aren’t doing breakfasts but in fact they just don’t want the family (children jumping on tables and off lead dog running around cafe to stay). I think that working in customer service would tip me over the edge too.

SteelRiver · 25/08/2019 09:41

I don't care how many good reviews the place has. I'd be put off going after seeing her replies. Food is very subjective and you can't please everyone. That's all she needs to say. Locals might know everything available is 'on the wall' but there's no need to get shirty with tourists who clearly won't know this.

The smart-arse, insulting replies just show the owner can't take criticism. There are so many good reviews, but she doesnt seem to be able to separate genuine criticism from people's foibles and just posts replies dripping with sarcasm. Very unpleasant.

DoNotWorry · 25/08/2019 09:41

The owner of this restaurant has yet to learn the first lesson of business:
YOU NEVER WIN AN ARGUMENT WITH A CUSTOMER!

EleanorReally · 25/08/2019 09:42

amazing

EleanorReally · 25/08/2019 09:43

does make you wonder whether this is a vendetta, or a sport just for the lols.

beccarocksbaby · 25/08/2019 09:44

@FaithInfinity @SleepyKat I'm a couple of hours away but holidaying in Lincs at the moment and am so tempted to go 😂

violashift · 25/08/2019 09:46

Wow I have never had a problem with a veggie dish in the uk. Abroad I have had lots of problems but home no way.

I like her review about the toilet complaint. She actually takes the criticism on board but blames the public.

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 09:48

We've, hand-on-heart, never experienced that attitude Olivers never. From years of living here.

There is no reason to avoid the whole of the UK. I obviously don't know which parts you went to, but asking about vegetarian options has never brought attitude (unless you went to the place in the OP that is, where its clearly shit attitude all the way). We have loads of veggie choice. Every menu for years has had a veggie choice. Some are a lot better at it than others, but still, not experienced that attitude.
