I’m surprised at the numbers of posters who have an issue with ordering at the til. I can’t see that it’s a big deal or impacts the restaurant experience to any great degree.

LazyFace · 23/08/2019 09:17

I think Nando's is great! I don't eat their chips as it's not nice, but their veggie selection and salads are really good.
Actually the healthiest option where I am is Nando's.

katewhinesalot · 23/08/2019 10:23

Nandos chips are ok but wtf have KFC done to their chips? Now that change is an unwelcome one.

chunk14 · 23/08/2019 10:47

20% nhs discount.
Chicken wrap with hot sauce, halloumi and pineapple.
Great salads and sides.
I love Nando's.

Solonelywastheballard · 23/08/2019 11:02

Surely the "ordering at the till" bit is no different to many pubs?

Most modern pubs have table service now. I also think a nice pub has a better atmosphere. Nandos has a "fast food* vibe. It's also a bit teenagery. I like to go to more grown up places.

EiraElephant · 23/08/2019 11:05

I would rather go to McDonalds than Nandos. It's just Hmm chicken

For me part of eating out is having table service. Sitting and having a drink and conversation while someone brings me what I want. Eating out at a restaurant is an experience not just filling your belly. Whereas to me nandos is just fill your belly type place.

bellainthemiddle · 23/08/2019 11:06

We have one literally at the end of the street and I've never been, lol!

goose1964 · 23/08/2019 11:29

I've been once, even the extra hot wasn't. I've been spoilt for chicken and chips as I had the best ever in a small taverna at the base of Monemvasia in Greece

Twinklycandlelight · 23/08/2019 11:35

We tried it recently, awful, expensive and it wasn’t even as nice as KFC !!

Clana4ever · 23/08/2019 11:48

@ourkidmolly

I'm not shouting, just reiterating clearly for you. As I said, I dont mind if people don't like nandos. But I guarantee you, all uk nandos cook from raw. It's not a franchise, all nandos are owned by the company and all follow the same spec. Depending on how busy the restaurant is and higher turn overs some will sell food faster then others and therefore if you are at a quieter restaurant it may have a slower turnover and therefore chicken may not be as moist as others though. But ALL chicken is cooked from raw.

I'm fact there is integrity in that as these days its not true of many other brands. I wouldnt be working as Nandos if there wasn't room for pride and integrity in what we do. I suppose that could be subjective in some people's eyes. But it's a fact that all chicken is cooked on the premises.

That’s exactly what does happen in Nando’s.

Have you ever actually been in one?

NewYellowPencilCase · 23/08/2019 13:11

I’ve never been in one. Someone up thread said you had to go and queue to order. Not table service.

MissB83 · 23/08/2019 13:24

I hate Nando's! I thought I was the only one. Overpriced for what you get.

LaurieMarlow · 23/08/2019 13:32

Someone up thread said you had to go and queue to order. Not table service.

It has a hybrid model.

You order. Go to your table. Then a waiter brings your food to your table when it’s ready.

Pancakeflipper · 23/08/2019 13:37

At the one we go to you can order at the till or have waiter service.

LavenderAndBeeswax · 23/08/2019 14:02

I'm not keen on the chicken and chips but my dds like it. Looking at the menu, if I go with my dds I may try the 3 x starters you can order instead. Will try houmous and pitta, nuts and halloumi sticks and dip.

Dillydallyingthrough · 23/08/2019 14:12

It's ok as a quick meal - I'm surprised at the complaints about the ordering and price. It makes it so much easier to pay when in a big group no bill splitting malarkey and no waiting around for someone to come and take your order. I think it is quite cheap as you can build your meal as you want. I also think you get a lot of food for the portion (and I'm not a make a chicken last week type of person and love food!). It's similar to pizza express and giraffe and I think on comparison is cheaper (although tbf I havent been to either for a few years as they ones near me are very noisy and full of young children running around). Some of the comments on here do feel slightly 'snobby' - for example it being for teenagers/not grown up enough - if you go to my local nandos it is full of adult only groups.

Oblomov19 · 23/08/2019 14:27

Teenagers, Year 9 and 10, I get. Dh and me? No thanks.

FionaCorkesWardrobebyKamizole · 23/08/2019 14:33

I've eaten at Nandos twice in my life, once in London and once abroad. Both times I've had horrendous food poisoning afterwards (not fun on a 12 hr flight home from the second visit) so I wouldn't ever go there again.

Everytime my nieces & nephews talk/post about going for a "cheeky nandos" I want to slap them with a dead chicken.

JustDanceAddict · 23/08/2019 14:36

It’s rank.
Had one with DS recently and not impressed. V expensive for what it is. I’d rather have Maccys.

CaramelCrunch · 23/08/2019 14:45

Had first one ca 2002, suffered food poisoning - decided never to return, and didn’t til this year. Had free lunch offered at a new one starting up, so went with a friend who assured me I must just have had a one off bad experience. Was completely underwhelmed- plenty of other places I could go for that price and eat something much nicer. At least I didn’t get food poisoning this time so it was an improvement of sorts!

ElizaDee · 23/08/2019 16:55

I think we will be attending nandos this weekend now.

CookPassBabtridge · 23/08/2019 17:25

I've only had chance to go once but it was delicious.
