I like it but I find even the spiciest chicken rather bland as they only marinade the outside of the chicken so inside the actual meat is bland. I get around it by putting shed loads of sauce on it but just don't enjoy as I used to when I was younger. I think I make better chicken at home frankly.

villainousbroodmare · 22/08/2019 13:06

As a pp said, it's pretty good here in South Africa and very popular, but I have had disappointing Nando's experiences in Dublin and in Edinburgh.

DameSquashalot · 22/08/2019 13:09

It is bland and needs LOTS of the sauce.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 22/08/2019 13:20

Love Nando's! It's really not that expensive, can be pretty healthy and if you have a card and collect your "chillis" you get free food from time to time! Awesome chicken thighs. Their salads and veg sides are tasty. Their coffee is surprisingly good too especially with a custard tart Grin

Those of you who find queuing for your order then collecting your sauces/cutlery on the way back to your table a "faff " must find much of everyday life quite stressful.

I went once. The restaurant was dark and dirty. I didn’t like the food - chips were limp and defeated-looking, the lettuce seemed older than DH and the chicken was just wet white meat that I suspect may not have lived a happy life and had been given an injection of water to try and cheer it up in the afterlife.

I’d rather go out for pizza.

AbbyNormal · 22/08/2019 13:23

I don't mind it, the flavours are good, but I find the cooking really inconsistent. I mostly go to the same branch, perhaps three times a year, but each visit is a gamble on whether it's going to be completely dry or not. Also TMI but I have IBS and Nando's kills my stomach so the only time I go is when organised by someone else and I have to OD on Buscopan during and after.

Agree that done well nothing beats a chippy tea Grin

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 22/08/2019 13:32

I don't like paying restaurant prices to queue up. Yes, I can get through life but going out to eat isn't really about getting through life, is it?

I’m where you have the real Piri piri chicken for a hell of a lot cheaper..Nandos lakes in comparison!

AlrightOkNow · 22/08/2019 13:47

Costs a lot for what it is and it's always rammed when there are cheaper places that do the same and you don't have to queue to give them your order. I was quite annoyed with the fact a small restaurant next to nandos went bust with quality food, reasonable prices whilst nandos was heaving.

I don't get it at all.

CedarTreeLeaf · 22/08/2019 13:56

I had piri piri chicken at a restaurant in Sun City, South Africa. It was beautiful, juicy, and if the chicken were the same at Nandos then I could understand paying a bit more but it is far too dry, bland, overcooked and stringy.

Clana4ever · 22/08/2019 14:01

No. It comes in as raw chicken. It is cooked in ovens in the back of the kitchen then it is finished on the grill. Trust me..... I know

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 22/08/2019 14:03

Crap food
Instant mash potatoes 🤢🤢🤢
Over priced
And it's always bloody freezing cold in there restaurants!

kenandbarbie · 22/08/2019 14:08

Yeah. It's horrible food,

ElleDubloo · 22/08/2019 14:13

Love Nando’s.

20% NHS discount.

joystir59 · 22/08/2019 14:20

Don't find the menu at all inspired, don't like self service- that's not a treat to me. And it's expensive for what it is.

SAHM2019 · 22/08/2019 14:20

I went once when I was younger because apparently it was the place to go. I didn't understand the big thing about it and have never been back.

Pileofcleantowels · 22/08/2019 14:25

It's a total rip off, small portions, everything seems to be an added extra. And very poor veggie options - it's obviously not set up for veggies but if it's a friend's choice to go there it'd be nice to have something not entirely dry and bland. Don't like the ordering system either.

chellochello · 22/08/2019 14:27

yes YABU - Nandos is chicken heaven!

verystressedmum · 22/08/2019 14:48

It makes my stomach turn just thinking about the quality of the chicken they use. No thanks.

It's the same quality of chicken that's used in most places. When you go to another restaurant what do you think you're getting? You're certainly not getting free roaming organic chicken (unless this is what is on the menu).

When you go into Tesco their own brand chicken is the same as their budget range. It's the same chicken with a different label.

verystressedmum · 22/08/2019 14:54

The chicken is seasoned with a powder seasoning in the factory and is sent to the stores like that. So it's probably not going to be the most flavoursome piece of meat you'll ever eat but chuck a load of sauce on it and it's great, I love Nando's.

LeysaV · 22/08/2019 15:11

Its not expensive for some of you . Granted.

Don't mean its NOT expensive for others.

poolblack · 22/08/2019 15:15

@LeysaV

That's true of every experience in life. We are not comparing people's finances here, we are comparing the cost of Nando's and other similar type places.
