I absolutely love the name Reuben but my friends little boy has this name :( Is there anything similar anyone can think of? I quite like Arlo but i'm hearing it a lot now too. I find out what I'm having in a few weeks and if its a boy i'm totally stumped! I already have a little girl, i have so many girls names to use but not one for a boy!

Or go biblical

Reuben is one of Jacob’s sons, but there's also -
Benjamin
Joseph
Issachar
Zebulun
Naphtali
Asher
Levi
Gad

as well as Reuben.

TrickyD · 21/08/2019 14:32

No more Reubens thank you very much.

When we gave this name to our son, in 1972, it was unusual and rare.

Now Reubens are two a penny. I am not pleased.

You do know there’s a whole topic dedicated to baby names, right?

I know someone who called their son Lincoln. It's not over used, hes the only little boy in his school with that name... so far. I just had 2 girls so cant be any more use.

It's so stressful choosing names for your lo! Not everyone has that favourite name they've been waiting their whole lives to give to their baby. We didn't decide on names for our 2 DD's until walking in to register them!

I hope you find something you like Smile

If you like Albie, what about Alban as the full name?

Cuppa12345 · 21/08/2019 14:40

Kitt?

Derbee · 21/08/2019 14:42

Vincent, Doug, Cole, Ace

I love short names that are easy for little kids to learn to spell. (Exception for Vincent/Vinnie)

That's really interesting @PettyContractor. OP it says there were 63,000 unique boys names, so clearly being unique isn't completely crazy like PP have suggested.

Also noticed there were 400 boys named Kevin in 2017. That tickled me.

PooWillyBumBum · 21/08/2019 14:46

Balonz, but only if you live nr. Frensham ponds.

Errrm Valentine, Orlando, Octavius, Irvine, Woodrow, Pericles, Horatio, Hieronymus?

Now Reubens are two a penny. I am not pleased.

Why the hell does it matter?

Claudius123 · 21/08/2019 14:48

Ewan or Eauan

One more person here who thinks unusual names are way more trouble than they are worth. I deliberately chose names that most people know how to pronounce and spell to save them a lifetime of explaining their name.

wifesupremacist · 21/08/2019 14:56

Pepsi

Having some stupid 'unique' name will not help your child at all.
Might be that they are teased mercilessly for it though.

If they are going to be unique & stand out from the crowd, they will do it no matter how many other people in the world have the same name as they do.

Take it from someone whose name was picked as part of my mothers decision that every single member of the family should have the exact same initials.
Just give the poor child a name you think suits them that people can spell.
Don't forget to put your childs initials down too just in case they spell some stupid word (shame my parents - who both have the exact same initials as ALL their kids - didn't think of that)

When letters turn up addressed to e.g. A. S. S(urname) & it could be for anyone in the house it gets annoying.

Didthatreallyhappen2 · 21/08/2019 15:13

A friend called their son Kimball - I've always liked that name. Or Finn (might have Irish roots?).

burntthepasta · 21/08/2019 15:14

Ivor
Evan
Tate
Rico
Reon
Lennon
I adore Casey for a boy too.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 21/08/2019 15:14

Don't worry about some of the comments, there are always going to be a few.
Cassius
Rudy
What are the names that have come up that you like? Might be able to come up with more similar

Snugglepumpkin · 21/08/2019 15:14

Meant to add, nobody in my family appreciates monogrammed items either.
