I absolutely love the name Reuben but my friends little boy has this name :( Is there anything similar anyone can think of? I quite like Arlo but i'm hearing it a lot now too. I find out what I'm having in a few weeks and if its a boy i'm totally stumped! I already have a little girl, i have so many girls names to use but not one for a boy!

Rubin?

Got to say it baffles mw why anyone works be annoyed at someone else using the name they've chosen. I mean wtf does it matter.

Someone mentioned the name Rogan, that would sound absolutely beautiful with Josh for a middle name.

My own suggestions would be Jurgen, Sadio, Virgil or Divock.

Had a bet with myself how many posts in until Bolonz was suggested Grin
Have also just realised how hard it was to type the name, auto correct went mad! So now going to spend the evening trying to work out if it was really an auto -corrected name after all ...

Romain?
Esteban?
Lando?
erm... Valtteri?

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 21/08/2019 21:13

Rudyard has fallen out of fashion somewhat, along with Godfrey, Cecil, Norman, Walter. Won't be many of them in your DS's class I'm sure.

What about Innes, or Callan.

The links PPs gave above were to the most popular names in England and Wales. Scotland produces its own list:here.

Just spat my tea out laughing at that.

I had this, asked friends and they didn’t mind at all.

Weirdly, was also over the name Ruben (honestly it really was).

Anyway, we went with Rupert. Just go with whatever you like.

Kit is cute if you have a surname that can carry it off.

EffiBriest · 21/08/2019 22:35

Humphrey, Horatio, Augustus, Sholto, Sacheverell, Valentine. I have used two of these for my DSs.

Cryalot2 · 21/08/2019 22:36

Choose the name you love otherwise you will regret it.
You could go for a different spelling to make it different.

marmagstam123 · 21/08/2019 22:36

Ilias

birdseeder · 21/08/2019 22:39

Please for your kids sake...use a name they will happily be called as a professional adult.

So many name are cute for a weeny baby, but I'd cringe for with an adult

And anything ending with -rae/ray...VOM

MUMbailey70 · 21/08/2019 22:39

Milo or Enzo :)

Nomorechickens · 21/08/2019 22:42

I was going to say the prize goes to @Aprillygirl but then pmsl at @GibbonLover
Baby names nowadays are like politics (Trump/Brexit) - it's hard to tell the serious suggestions from the satire. (I'm hoping at least 2/3 satire - but then I'm old so who cares what I think is a good baby name!).

cupoftea987 · 21/08/2019 22:47

Ranen, it means joyful.

zzzzzzz Perhaps Axel-Jay's mother was a Harold Faltemeyer fan?

EugenesAxe · 21/08/2019 22:59

@JP79 I do actually know an Eden who’s a girl. I have never seen any reaction to it in terms of its use for a girl.

5foot5 I laughed at your post having had the same thought 😁

I like:

Theodore
Gerald

"Rupert" is similar to Rueben and despite being a respectable boys name has never been in the top 100. It is currently ranked 127 with 456 boys getting it in 2017.

I had been considering Rupert when our Reuben was born but decided against it.

"Thank God you did, Mum' is what he always says.
