I absolutely love the name Reuben but my friends little boy has this name :( Is there anything similar anyone can think of? I quite like Arlo but i'm hearing it a lot now too. I find out what I'm having in a few weeks and if its a boy i'm totally stumped! I already have a little girl, i have so many girls names to use but not one for a boy!

I definitely don't want to use my friends sons name, i wouldn't like it if my close friend did that. We're a small group of friends so it would be really weird! I would consider a more common name, i just haven't found anything i like! I like Albie but i don't like Albert. I don't like names with 'S' in them as i have a lisp too. I'm totally stuck, haha.

@PumpkinP you might find it rude but not everyone does. My family is stuffed full of David’s and literally nobody gives a shit.

Well the op agrees with me that it would be weird. Families where using the same name is tradition, fair enough. just using the same name as your friends kid, yep weird!

Fimat · 21/08/2019 11:59

Milo, Roman, Rowan.

notso · 21/08/2019 12:04

I have three friends who have used the same names as my children. One asked if I minded, two didn't. I don't mind at all.

FuriousVexation · 21/08/2019 12:06

If you want "unique" then you need to make something up. You can't use an actual name, because then it won't be unique.

How about
HurbledyGurgleby
HubbaBubba
PopTart McSugar
SquichySugarpants

Didn't think so.

Look to yours and your H's heritage and take inspiration from there. Or search "boy's names which mean wisdom/strength/kindness/victory/intelligence" etc and adapt as required.

donotcovertheradiator · 21/08/2019 12:44

If you want unique, as a pp said you will have to make one up or use a word that has never been used as a human name before-maybe, cock, twat or fucker-although you would need to check that.

At any rate, they will be rare or, failing that, unusual.!

Thatagain · 21/08/2019 12:49

Vinnie

Rueben is a little over used. I know 4 Ruebens. Still a nice name though.
Vincent is a nice name to and unusual

I have 4 DS and 2 DGS so I know a little about boy's names. I love the name vinnie.

Claudius123 · 21/08/2019 13:01

Rumpelstiltskin !

It has definitely been used before, but only once so pretty unique.

Thatagain · 21/08/2019 13:13

If this helps vinnie is a short name for vincent. Also vincent is a very uncommon British name. Ie vincent moterbike the best in the world and also from the uk.

INeedAFlerken · 21/08/2019 13:21

It's not weird or rude to use names friends or family members have used. In fact, it's incredibly common. Names mean things to people, lots of people. Nobody 'owns' them.

OP doesn't want to use the same name, so that's fine, too! Hopefully she'll find one she loves just as much as Reuben.

DanaPhoenix · 21/08/2019 13:22

The naming dilemma, those were the days. Personally for both my DS I chose names that were surnames (not either family) still worked as first names. Of course within a few years DS2 name was on the popular lists.

I'm fond of Harrison didn't work with our surname but have a God son called that now so win win.

Lockheart · 21/08/2019 13:25
