AIBU to hate this singing 'style'?

Hello everybody. My dd, who is fifteen, loves music. She listens to a lot of pop singers, like Ariana Grande, Billie Ellish etc. She often listens to a lot of song 'covers' on youtube, which is where teens sing their favourite songs in their own style. I personally think it's sweet, but a lot of these teens use this strange style where they mispronounce the words! soit af loik thess. It really makes me angry for some reason. I seem to have an irrational hate of it. One singer that she listens to is called Jessie Reyez. Bloody hell! She's a talented girl but there really is no reason to sing like that... She sounds like she's screeching the words while mispronouncing everything.. Is it just me who gets annoyed by this?

Well, it's parodied a lot by the 'Vocal Coach' Youtubers and I guess that's just what they've labelled it.

I DESPISE this. Didn’t t start with that Diana Vickers on X Factor? Hardly indie! Most of them don’t even talk in that accent so it’s all completely contrived. I do equally get annoyed at people doing runs all over the place too who can’t sing a straight note. It’s unlistenable!

I know exactly the style you mean. It irritates me too as it doesn't sound real, sounds like they are all copying each other.

It’s the way so many female singers sound like they are lying down, wearing a nose clip and barely opening their mouths that I hate. Just sing properly.

@EL2019 What annoys me though is that she seems lovely when she isn't doing this silly character I much prefer her like that. Her vlogs with the baby are very sweet.
