AIBU to hate this singing 'style'?

Hello everybody. My dd, who is fifteen, loves music. She listens to a lot of pop singers, like Ariana Grande, Billie Ellish etc. She often listens to a lot of song 'covers' on youtube, which is where teens sing their favourite songs in their own style. I personally think it's sweet, but a lot of these teens use this strange style where they mispronounce the words! soit af loik thess. It really makes me angry for some reason. I seem to have an irrational hate of it. One singer that she listens to is called Jessie Reyez. Bloody hell! She's a talented girl but there really is no reason to sing like that... She sounds like she's screeching the words while mispronouncing everything.. Is it just me who gets annoyed by this?

That vocal fry thing is really annoying.

The girl off the talking about money advert does it, her voice is awful. I can’t listen.

There was a particularly heinous version of Twinkle Twinkle sung by one of the bweathy ickle girl singers, with lots of soulful pauses. "Twinkw .... twinkw .... litl .... stahhhh". I think it was used in an advert.

Dh also found a couple of women who cover songs really well. Really not famous. American I think, possibly sisters. The... (something beginning with L?). Anyone got any ideas before I go through the frustrating process of asking him?

God yes a 1000 times this. Usually laid over some emotionally manipulative festive advert for some capitalist mega-entity.
I cannot bear them.

Ellie Goulding is one of the worst offenders as well as Lily Allen. It's basically every John Lewis Christmas advert.

They're more whiny. But equally shit. But actually it's the cover aspect that irritates most for me.
