To wonder why Corbyn won’t stand aside

Is he just the most stubborn man ever?

Labour could win a GE if they stood on a Remain, or at least avoid No Deal ticket but Corbyn is so toxic that people just don’t support him.

I know he wants to leave the EU really but why are Labour letting him stay in post?

Why the bloody hell should he. He was voted in place by Labour voters, myself included.

vintagebella · 16/08/2019 09:42

Because the actual members of the Labour party voted him as leader twice. That's how it works.

Thingsdogetbetter · 16/08/2019 09:44

I'll vote for Labour in a GE with Corbyn as leader! Not sure who gets my vote if he stands down.

bellinisurge · 16/08/2019 09:57

Because he's a teenager. Emotionally, that is. Have you tried reasoning with one? Especially one who thinks they are morally superior.
I'm old I've seen his like try and mess with the Labour Party before.
I'd only vote for him to stop No Deal. Like choosing to get shot in the knees rather than the head. I'm a lifelong Labour voter.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 16/08/2019 10:21

Another Labour voter (and member) here who will be voting Lib Dem while Corbyn is leader.

Bearbehind · 16/08/2019 10:27

He might be the Labour leader but he certainly isn’t leading.

I genuinely can’t comprehend how anyone can defend him.

Labour should be miles ahead in the polls given the epic mess the Tories have made of Brexit but they’re not and that is entirely because Corbyn is so ineffectual.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 16/08/2019 10:28

What Bellini said tbh. I would vote for him to stop a no deal, but I wouldn't feel good about it. Lifelong labour voter here, feeling pretty homeless.

Rethymnon · 16/08/2019 10:35

You can imagine GCSE history exam questions in years to come - “To what extent was the No Deal Brexit of 2019 the result if an infective opposition?”

Corbyn has had years to make his position on Brexit clear. He has shirked the opportunity to take a stance at every conceivable opportunity. And now, at the eleventh hour, he expects people to believe in him.

Joke..

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/08/2019 10:47

Poor Bearbehind with her Tory buyers remorse lmao Grin

MolyHolyGuacamole · 16/08/2019 10:50

Is he just the most stubborn man ever?

He divorced his wife for sending their son to a grammar school. Stubborn is an understatement Grin

MaMaMaMySharona · 16/08/2019 10:54

I have always voted Labour and always will, but I too do not have much faith in Corbyn. A lot of the hate seems to be quite unfounded, but he just doesn't do a huge amount to change people's minds.

Cinammoncake · 16/08/2019 11:21

Blind spot when it comes to his own faults maybe?

Serin · 16/08/2019 11:46

I have left the Labour party because of this man. I cant stand his general air of misery.

Andy Burnham needs to man up and make a leadership challenge.

CendrillonSings · 16/08/2019 11:48

What can you say? The man’s a plastic god, except to his cult followers, of course.

SilverySurfer · 16/08/2019 11:57

Because the actual members of the Labour party voted him as leader twice.

Not only Labour members, some Conservatives joined Labour temporarily to vote for him, betting on him being unelectable. Grin

allthegins · 16/08/2019 12:04

Momentum won’t let him

Lumene · 16/08/2019 12:06

There are very few people I wouldn’t vote for to try to keep Boris out. Corbyn is definitely one of them.

NameChange84 · 16/08/2019 12:11

I’m disgusted at what is happening to this country but could never vote for Jeremy Corbyn. I think he’s genuinely dangerous for not only his party but the country. Will never vote for Labour whilst he leads the county. Lib Dem for me at the moment.

Singlenotsingle · 16/08/2019 12:14

He ought to put the party first and resign so that someone credible could take over. Luckily he won't.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 16/08/2019 12:16

Because he and his entourage think they've sniffed out a way to bypass the pesky electorate and shuffle him into No 10 without being voted in, that's why. Frankly, I don't care how many Labour members voted for him the last leadership challenge. The only thing that matters is what the voting public say and Labour has been told over and over again he is a bum steer. Labour is there to serve the people of this country. It is not there to fiddle a coronation for Jeremy Corbyn.

AiryFairyMum · 16/08/2019 12:18

Because lots of people want him to be Prime Minister? Because he keeps winning leadership elections? Because he's the best person for the job? Do you need any more reasons?

NoBaggyPants · 16/08/2019 12:20

If someone brave enough to speak out against injustice is "dangerous" then you need to look at your own values.

@Bearbehind You're a Tory voter aren't you? So you're one of the people that caused this mess in the first place.

Lumene · 16/08/2019 12:23

Because lots of people want him to be Prime Minister

Unfortunately nowhere near enough to win a GE.

NoBaggyPants · 16/08/2019 12:25

@bellinisurge I know you don't like him but I'd encourage you to attend one of his meetings and actually have a discussion with him. I have, I certainly don't agree with all his views, but he's more than happy (and able) to discuss any concerns you have. He's all over the country over the summer (and every weekend through the year) so hopefully he'll be near you at some point.

mummmy2017 · 16/08/2019 12:26

I know Bearbehind has worked hard to stop Brexit, I want no deal, but I respect her for being willing to speak out.
