To wonder why Corbyn won’t stand aside

Bearbehind · 16/08/2019 08:52

Is he just the most stubborn man ever?

Labour could win a GE if they stood on a Remain, or at least avoid No Deal ticket but Corbyn is so toxic that people just don’t support him.

I know he wants to leave the EU really but why are Labour letting him stay in post?

Fucking hell every day there's another thread bashing the fuck out of him. Yeah he's not perfect but it's about time anyone who cares about the future of the people of this country and getting the total utter wanking shitting bastard conservatives out needs to swallow their dislike of JC and get behind him as an alternative.

bellinisurge · 16/08/2019 14:43

If he had showed an ounce of leadership on Brexit people wouldn't have been so pissed off with him @EllebellyBeeblebrox . Apart from old gimmers like me who have seen his shit before.
This "working night and day for the ordinary people " crap is what they used to say about some dodgy old extremists.

verticality · 16/08/2019 14:45

I agree @EllebellyBeeblebrox. Oddly, those bashing never seem to have much of a grasp of the actual policy issues, though. Corbyn is very far from being the deep-left Marxist of the scaremongering Murdoch tabloids. His policies are really, really mild by the standards of the last 100 years. Anyone with a smidge of historical policy perspective can see how far the Overton window has been drawn rightwards in the last couple of decades.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 16/08/2019 14:46

Bellini I do agree and I've been so frustrated over the last few years about his dithering. I just feel like we're getting down to the wire now and something needs to change, or the large majority of us are going to continue to be roundly fucked.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 16/08/2019 14:49

Agree vertical, noticed that around the time of the GE when people were bleating about magic money trees and labour's policies not being costed. The manifesto and policies were there in black and white for people to read, including how things would be paid for.

Sandybval · 16/08/2019 14:52

Labour would probably walk an election after the mess at the moment, but whether you agree or not a lot of people have said they refuse to vote for them whilst he is leader. Therefore he should stand aside for the sake of his party, wondering if he is a secret Tory really trying to make sure Labour are unelectable.

Deathgrip · 16/08/2019 14:56

wondering if he is a secret Tory really trying to make sure Labour are unelectable

And that’s HOUSE!

FFS. What kind of a world are we living in where people think that Corbyn is a Marxist and Johnson is a better option to run our country.

dadshere · 16/08/2019 15:02

He is the democratically elected (twice) leader of the Labour party, he is hugely popular (outside of the MSM and MN) and is the best chance this country has of getting off of its knees. Without Corbyn, the Labour party are only a little better than the Lie dems. Despite the constant smears against him, he WILL be PM.

bellinisurge · 16/08/2019 15:03

What fucking idiot thinks either Corbyn or Johnson are any good? It is possible to despise both @Deathgrip .

CendrillonSings · 16/08/2019 15:24

(outside of the MSN and MN and the UK ) - fixed that for ya! Grin

Cinammoncake · 16/08/2019 16:09

The anti semitism alone is huge for many people, like me. But if he was even half competent then he'd have provided an opposition during a period of literally years when the Tories have been an open goal. He has been totally crap.

Bearbehind · 16/08/2019 16:09

it's about time anyone who cares about the future of the people of this country and getting the total utter wanking shitting bastard conservatives out needs to swallow their dislike of JC and get behind him as an alternative.

No it’s not - it’s time for JC to accept how unpopular he is and step aside for the sake of his party.

I completely agree (and I’m from a Muslim background so God help but know how the Jewish people of this country must feel). But when I said on this thread he is a dangerous man, I get told I need to look at my value system.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 16/08/2019 16:57

But you'll never ever have a party leader who everyone unanimously supports. Surely voting for the principles of the party and the policies are the priority?

Bearbehind · 16/08/2019 17:05

But you'll never ever have a party leader who everyone unanimously supports.

No but there are few that are disliked by as many people as Corbyn.

His opposition of the Tories over Brexit is simply indefensible.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 16/08/2019 17:11

@EllebellyBeeblebrox no you won't of course. It helps if the parliamentary party like the leader. And a large number of your core voters. He fails on that score too.
Look, I don't have to like the leader but is it too much to ask that they dump antisemites and have a clear policy on Brexit.
The photos shaking hands with Adams and trying to steal Mo Mowlem's credit in the NI peace process are just extra dollops of shite that he brings.

Rubicon80 · 16/08/2019 17:33

@NameChange84 Flowers
It means LOADS to see you say that. I'm Jewish & I am equally appalled by the Islamophobia that seems to be becoming normalised along with antisemitism these days.

It is by far the most terrifying time I have ever experienced. I've never felt so scared to be Jewish in my own city and my own country - and have never had so many people feel that they can tell me it's not really my country.

Sandybval · 16/08/2019 17:36

@Deathgrip I haven't said how I personally feel about him, but the consensus from floating voters (and some labour) is that they will not vote for Labour whilst he is leader. He knows this, surely.

Sandybval · 16/08/2019 17:36

And the reason it's house and people say the same stuff every thread is because there's truth to it surely Blush

angstridden2 · 16/08/2019 18:17

Wanking shitting bastard conservatives....nothing like reasoned debate is there! Although I think JC is hopeless leader, I rather admire his stance on son and grammar school, at least he was true to his beliefs on that. Ironically his wife sent the son to grammar school anyway!

Rubicon80 · 16/08/2019 18:24

Wanking shitting bastard conservatives....nothing like reasoned debate is there!

I am - was - a lifelong Labour voter. My parents were student protestors i the 60s and were at the first ever sit-in. I was brought up on going to anti-Thatcher demos & Rock against Racism events. My grandparents were at Cable St (actually - unlike Jeremy fucking cunt Corbyn and his racist conspiracy theorist brother).

Don't you fucking dare call me a conservative because my family and loved ones are under attack from a bunch of disgusting old racists who have taken over the party that used to be my home.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 16/08/2019 18:30

My rant about the conservatives was about the ones in power, who have been hell bent on destroying this country for the last however many years.

Ilovetolurk · 16/08/2019 18:31

Labour could win a GE if they stood on a Remain, or at least avoid No Deal ticket

It’s estimated 60% of constituencies with a labour mp had a majority for brexit. The Telegraph had a poll last week seeing 54% of voters now want the country to just get on with it

I think labour will struggle in a GE irrespective of Corbyn

NameChange84 · 16/08/2019 18:49

@Rubicon80 Flowers.

I think it’s a hard to time to be anything but an old, wealthy, white British (English even) man!

Scary times indeed. Sorry to hear you are made to feel like this isn’t “your” country at times. It’s a horribly divisive period of our history and beggars belief that it can even occur given the dark periods we’ve all grown up being educated about (and that many of those in power actually lived through). I cannot understand the people in power at all. They give permission for all the antisemites and xenophobes to come crawling out the woodwork. It’s become socially acceptable and rewarding to be ideological evil these days.

NameChange84 · 16/08/2019 18:50

“Ideologically”
