Inappropriate request at Work - AIBU?

A colleague is leaving our team. Received an email from some colleagues about a collection - no problem.

I was surprised that they also asked colleagues in the team to provide a photo "au natural" to create a souvenir calendar for the person leaving. Apparently not showing anything rude but "you can show as much or as little skin as you want as long as we don't actually see anything rude and it's a bit 'cheeky'"

Shock

I find this grim on a number of levels and given there are 10+ people in the team there is going to be some pressure for everyone to participate.

I don't think it is appropriate and could really use the hive mind of Mumsnet to give me a steer on what to do/ how to respond to these CFrs.

AIBU?

Fucking hell. Do you work in the 1970s?

Userzzzzz · 15/08/2019 17:10

What?????? That is so inappropriate. Do you have an HR department? I’d forward the email on to them as a FYI.

Jemima232 · 15/08/2019 17:11

Ooh I'd love the voting button this one.

YANBU. Hell would have frozen over twice before they got me to contribute to this grimmery.

EL8888 · 15/08/2019 17:11

Genuinely confused. This is very odd?!

Jemima232 · 15/08/2019 17:12

Just out of interest, is the colleague who is leaving a bloke and the rest of you are all women?

imagines man with readily-available cockbait

BIWI · 15/08/2019 17:13

Just reply and say no! And that you think it's inappropriate.

Aquamarine1029 · 15/08/2019 17:13

I would be telling whoever is organising this ridiculous gift that I will not be providing a picture and I will not be discussing it again.

CaptainMyCaptain · 15/08/2019 17:14

Don't do it, tell your colleagues you aren't doing it so they'd don't feel pressured either. I doubt if anyone wants this. Also refer the email to HR or whoever.

ChestyNut · 15/08/2019 17:14

Good lord who do you work for Peter stringfellow?!

Who did the request come from? Colleagues or management?

MotherOfSoupDragons · 15/08/2019 17:14

I'd just let them know I wouldn't be doing that.

19lottie82 · 15/08/2019 17:14

I’d sit in a tracksuit, dressing gown and balaclava

Very Life on Mars

8by8 · 15/08/2019 17:15

Could you pretend you think they’re joking? Sometimes that points out nicely that something’s ridiculous.

So a reply along the lines of “hah can you imagine - HR would have a field day with that “cheeky calendar”! Not enough booze in the world to get me to do that!”

?

It’s even possible they are joking?

Jemima232 · 15/08/2019 17:16

What does the rest of the team think?

BanjoStarz · 15/08/2019 17:16

I really hope you will come along with a massive drip feed (like you work in a nudist community or similar)

Otherwise, I literally cannot see how this could be ok. I work for a fairly “relaxed” company in terms of acceptable behaviour and language but a nude Callander for a leaving present is so far over the line it can’t even be seen!

Any chance it was a joke?!

PuzzledObserver · 15/08/2019 17:17

Completely inappropriate, I would not be doing it, end of discussion.

GoGoGoGoGo · 15/08/2019 17:17

WTF?

MustShowDH · 15/08/2019 17:17

I think I'd be tempted to put on a big coat, hood up so just a small circle showing and hold up a sign saying 'guess who?'

Or reply saying "LOL, can you imagine if you REALLY expected this in this day and age?!!!!"

QueenofCBA · 15/08/2019 17:17

Standard mumsnet reply, cc all colleagues: “Are you on glue?”

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 15/08/2019 17:19

"Barry, are you on glue? We're not doing a 'cheeky calendar', don't be so bloody stupid."

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/08/2019 17:19

Yeah, snap. How has this even come to mind?!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 15/08/2019 17:19

X post Queen Grin

Sallyseagull · 15/08/2019 17:20

Oh. My. Goodness.

YANBU

GameChange123 · 15/08/2019 17:20

The person leaving is a woman.

The person who emailed me is female but it was her and a male colleague who apparently came up with this 'fright idea'

The people asking are late 20's/early 30s I'd guess not that age should matter. They are members of the team not management

I cannot find the voting button option - is it too late? (have had to name change to post this mind bleach situation)
