Oh my goodness, why are people so rude and horrible in supermarkets?

I was trying to get out of the way of a really big guy in the supermarket but was not quite quick enough so he actually RAMMED my trolley out of the way!!! I had to run after it but as i did so said over my shoulder 'actually, i was trying to get out of the way for you but never mind!' and as i walked off he actually rammed his trolley into ME!!!!

i took a deep breath. What shall i do? I walked on, continued my shopping. You know what? there were a lot of friendly people in there all smiling at each other and being polite - i had a toy dinosaur in my trolley for my nephew and a lady said, 'oh, i like your friend!' and i decided to get over it and walked round the corner still smiling and this horrible man and his wife walked assed me and i actually heard her say to him '..... don't you hate the way she was smiling at us!' WTAF - like i can't be cheerful now?!!!!

i had to double back though and, well, my trolley may have poked out into the else a bit and guess what!!!???? He smashed into it again!!! I turned round and said very loudly 'oh gosh, i am sorry, was my trolley in the way?!! All you had to do was say excuse me!!!'

he leant right over me (he was over a foot taller than i am) and mouthed 'fuck off, fuck off, fuck off' - sheesh!!!! Luckily, two other people were there and looked as incredulous as i as he walked off.

What to do? I was shaking, but took a deep breath. I picked u a bottle of prossecco. But then, there they were agin. So i took out y phone and took a picture - i made sure he saw me do it!

shall i post it on Facebook? Although, i think what i will do is post a picture of my lovely toy dinosaur and say thank you to the nice lady who cheered me up instead.......

I would take the photo to the police station and report this man for assault

Branleuse · 15/08/2019 11:59

Yes i would and i think id call 101. He assaulted you

Simkin · 15/08/2019 11:59

Yeah what she ^ said

Jemima232 · 15/08/2019 11:59

Nah.
Post a picture of your lovely toy dinosaur.

AuntyMarysBigRedPants · 15/08/2019 12:00

Don't post his photo
They sound vile people, did you speak to someone & report their behaviour ?

Thehop · 15/08/2019 12:00

Take picture to police

ShirleyPhallus · 15/08/2019 12:01

You’ll sound totally deranged if you post that story with a photo on Facebook

I’m sure you’ll get lots of “aw hunni” comments though if that’s what you’re after

If you want something to actually be done about it then police would be the way to go

NeatFreakMama · 15/08/2019 12:01

Some people are rude, I'd try to let it go so that you aren't affected yourself too much. He must be pretty unhappy to be that aggressive.

BazzleJet · 15/08/2019 12:02

Report to the police. It's not ok to be assaulted in a supermarket or anywhere else for that matter. Even if it's just trolley rage and nothing personal, that man has anger issues and needs to be made aware it's not ok to take them out on others. Please report.

onanothertrain · 15/08/2019 12:02

Why? Yes he was rude and aggressive but what are you hoping to achieve?

Becca83 · 15/08/2019 12:03

Police! He assaulted and intimidated you. They should have CCTV in the shop.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 15/08/2019 12:03

..... he was more than rude!!!

Deelish75 · 15/08/2019 12:05

Pictures of any injuries, ask supermarket for cctv, go to the police - it’s assault. The man is a bully, next time he might really hurt someone.

CaMePlaitPas · 15/08/2019 12:09

Good Lord, what a deeply unpleasant individual. Don't give him any more mental space (open that Prosecco!) - I'm sure you'll never see him again.

rabbitwoman · 15/08/2019 12:13

Naw, I went with the dinosaur picture.

I guess sometimes people can have a shitty day and forget their manners.

To be honest, the number of smiley, friendly polite people in the supermarket far outweighed the rude ones.....

I emailed the photo to my mum instead with the subject 'asshole' that made me feel better ......

justilou1 · 15/08/2019 12:15

Police... he might escalate. Sounds like he’s cooking up.

IAskTooManyQuestions · 15/08/2019 12:15

I always think, when you see this shit on FB, it's actually a deranged stalker of an ex taking the pictures and making up stories for shitz'n'gigglez hun

Zaphodsotherhead · 15/08/2019 12:19

Unless he's a wanted criminal, I don't think the police are going to comb the streets looking for smeone who matches the picture. If you don't have any identifying characteristics (like his car registration) how would the police even find him?

And I'm not sure but it might be illegal to post pictures of people up on Facebook - can you not be sued for defamation? Even if they have done something?

I think smiling and rising above it is the best way, so I think you've done exactly the right thing.

Picklypickles · 15/08/2019 12:20

You really should report him to the police, I'm pretty sure I remember reading in the news a few years back that someone was killed being rammed with a trolley in the supermarket, the guy sounds really dangerous.

CatPunsFreakMeowt · 15/08/2019 12:24

Agree that he sounds dangerous, please do report him to the police.

AnneKipanki · 15/08/2019 12:27

I think you should report it to police . Shop will have CCTV as previous poster said.

AnneKipanki · 15/08/2019 12:28

I would not post on FB.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/08/2019 12:28

I’m sorry you were victim to this deranged idiot. I would report him to the police. They may not be able to do anything. I’m disabled. I don’t look disabled. I’ve recently had two extensive surgeries, which I’m far from over. If he did this to me, it would be devastating.

endofthelinefinally · 15/08/2019 12:29

I remember that story of the person who died. It was in M&S around Christmas time I think.
OP, you should inform the police and show them the photo. Also report to store management You are ok, but the next person he assaults may not be.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 15/08/2019 12:29

I would probably email it or print it off and show it to the manager/ security of the supermarket. They have a duty of care to ensure their customers are safe. I dont think they could have prevented this but if its brought to their attention then they should try and prevent it next time
