Oh my goodness, why are people so rude and horrible in supermarkets?

I was trying to get out of the way of a really big guy in the supermarket but was not quite quick enough so he actually RAMMED my trolley out of the way!!! I had to run after it but as i did so said over my shoulder 'actually, i was trying to get out of the way for you but never mind!' and as i walked off he actually rammed his trolley into ME!!!!

i took a deep breath. What shall i do? I walked on, continued my shopping. You know what? there were a lot of friendly people in there all smiling at each other and being polite - i had a toy dinosaur in my trolley for my nephew and a lady said, 'oh, i like your friend!' and i decided to get over it and walked round the corner still smiling and this horrible man and his wife walked assed me and i actually heard her say to him '..... don't you hate the way she was smiling at us!' WTAF - like i can't be cheerful now?!!!!

i had to double back though and, well, my trolley may have poked out into the else a bit and guess what!!!???? He smashed into it again!!! I turned round and said very loudly 'oh gosh, i am sorry, was my trolley in the way?!! All you had to do was say excuse me!!!'

he leant right over me (he was over a foot taller than i am) and mouthed 'fuck off, fuck off, fuck off' - sheesh!!!! Luckily, two other people were there and looked as incredulous as i as he walked off.

What to do? I was shaking, but took a deep breath. I picked u a bottle of prossecco. But then, there they were agin. So i took out y phone and took a picture - i made sure he saw me do it!

shall i post it on Facebook? Although, i think what i will do is post a picture of my lovely toy dinosaur and say thank you to the nice lady who cheered me up instead.......

Wait was it the same guy both times? Or did you apparently manage to piss off 3 different people in one supermarket trip?

Letsnotusemyname · 15/08/2019 13:32

You’re right not to Facebook it. It could well backfire as he’d have your name if he sees it.

But do go back to the store, soon as they may reuse tapes if ‘nothing’ happens that day.

Push your case. If you’ve bruises then take photos.

The store may know him and he may have caused problems before.

The police may not take interest in your one case - but if it’s part of a pattern they may do.

Hope you’re ok

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 15/08/2019 13:36

Yes, go back to the store and report it. I did this when a man threatened to stab me in the car park, and they were really kind and helpful - found him on cctv, gave me his car reg and helped me report him to the police.

rabbitwoman · 15/08/2019 13:37

Yes, it was the same man all three times. And his wife made a snarky comment about me smiling.......

How dare I exist!!!!

Dora26 · 15/08/2019 13:40

Be very glad you’re not married to him!!

LadyRannaldini · 15/08/2019 13:41

Look out for him on future trips, whatever you do about this, and when you see him look and start to laugh, he'll hate it. Remember, the most effective form of aggression is passive!

AngelasAshes · 15/08/2019 13:42

I would not post online, but I would go file a report with the police. Even if you don’t file charges, they appreciate things being reported because it’s anti-social behaviour and rates of that are linked to their funding and therefore ability to patrol to stop anti-social behaviour escalating to serious stuff like stabbing or hitting with car in car park etc...

sweeneytoddsrazor · 15/08/2019 13:45

They gave you his car reg? Without a request from the police? That is not allowed however helpful it might be. Customers are not allowed to view the cctv and no details from it can be released without going through the official channels.

QualCheckBot · 15/08/2019 13:45

Don't post his image online but take it to the police to complain of assault.

I get fed up with women being told to not make a fuss and ignore things and get over them and just get on with their lives. The reason there are so many "charming" individuals such as this man is because not enough people challenge them and they think they will get away with it!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 15/08/2019 13:46

That would just escalate a sitaution like this in my opinion @LadyRannaldini

OP the bloke sounds like a nut . I would show the supermarket the photo so security can keep an eye out . People like him sicken me and, as a PP said, doubt he would try that on a man, oh no . What a prat of a bloke.
The incident in M&S was in Bromley (my local town) .

ReanimatedSGB · 15/08/2019 13:51

FFS. While he sounds unpleasant, the thing to do would have been to show that picture to the store management at the time. They might have decided to detain the man and call the police, as his behaviour was unreasonably aggressive.
But posting pictures on social media with a whiny 'this person is meeeeean' story just makes you look like a twat. If you have a lot of thickos among your friends you might get a batch of 'U OK hun?' posts, but lots of people will dismiss the story as bullshit.

SconeofDestiny · 15/08/2019 13:52

Report to police. He sounds abusive and he may already have a record.

PasDeGeeGees · 15/08/2019 14:02

Did you talk to anyone, security or customer sevices, before you left the supermarket?

Pannalash · 15/08/2019 14:06

Report to the Police and contact the shop re CCTV.

Supersimpkin · 15/08/2019 14:08

Just email the pic to the shop and tell them why. Give your receipt # so they can check cctv. You won't be the only one he's clouted.

Deathraystare · 15/08/2019 14:09

Did you talk to anyone, security or customer sevices, before you left the supermarket?

Exactly- they would hopefully have him on CCTV - probably find out he has done it before.

ysmaem · 15/08/2019 14:14

No, don't post a photo on Facebook to name and shame. There's no need to air it on social media. You might get into trouble for doing so. Go to the police and report him. You have his photo to identify him and I'm sure the supermarket this happened in will have CCTV footage of the incident. Hope you're ok OP

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 15/08/2019 14:17

Store management and police. He assaulted you! What a nasty piece of work!

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 15/08/2019 14:18

I don't know why you didn't go immediately to a member of staff, security guard in particular if your store has one! Anyone physically assaulting and threatening another customer should and usually does get asked to leave.

I personally would have blown up at him and given it to the fucker with both barrels in the store instead but that's not what I would advise anyone else. My temper just wouldn't allow rational actions if someone rammed a trolley into me hard on purpose.

Butchyrestingface · 15/08/2019 14:23

You’ll sound totally deranged if you post that story with a photo on Facebook

A less charitable person would she sounds totally deranged even without posting the photo.

Definitely police. Are you bruised?

4legsandawaggytail · 15/08/2019 14:25

This is in no way acceptable behaviour. I would definitely report it to the Police. Maybe he has mental health issues, that would make sense.

HaileySherman · 15/08/2019 14:34

His behavior was OTT and menacing. I don't think Facebook is the way to go, but if you feel he was dangerous, the police might be the way to go. If you think he was just a jerk with an attitude, then do as you have been and try to have a good day in spite of it.

pallasathena · 15/08/2019 14:36

Maybe he noticed your dinosaur in the trolley? Maybe he got the rage because he's one of many male dinosaurs out there thinking its their god given right to snarl, sneer and intimidate women..
I'd have a word with the police too. The twat could escalate if he gets away with this type of behaviour. It really needs to be called out OP.

Soontobe60 · 15/08/2019 14:51

OP, how did he manage to ram you with his trolley if you were running away after your own trolley? No doubt the CCTV in the supermarket will show this.

Jellybeansincognito · 15/08/2019 15:18

You should publish it here and may this thread be the first wanted post to be published by ‘cough’ elsewhere.

Haha
