I can't wait to pick up a hobby or two.

I have small children who by this time next year will both be at school. By January I will have finished a post grad qualification I am doing alongside being a mum and my part time work.

Exercise and hobbies haven't featured in my life much recently.

Bookaholic73 · 13/08/2019 08:36

I have recently taken up surfing. I love it!
I go 2-3 times a week after work.

DefConOne · 13/08/2019 08:41

I sing in an a’cappella chorus. I’ve been going for about 3 years and I’m improving all the time. Learning my part is very absorbing and it’s really rewarding when the song comes together with the rest of the chorus. We take part in competitions and perform at local events. It’s very sociable as well.

I also go to a dance aerobics class 1-2 a week to a particular type of music. It attracts a regular crowd of friendly people.

Crochet, I'm studying (not a hobby) in the evenings now so not much time to do it but I miss it. I also plan to do a cross stitch over the winter time.

Chilledout11 · 13/08/2019 08:43

Nothing much but I like upcycling furniture. Picking up little items in charity shops. I have enough now so have to stop. Joining a running club in September. Also bit of gardening and reading.

theruffles · 13/08/2019 08:44

Knitting, cross stitch, sewing (I'm not very good at this but learning), card making, baking (recently discovered this is quite a good stress buster), foraging and making jams and chutneys.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 13/08/2019 08:45

Samba drumming, reading, hiking, internetting (Grin) watching films.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 13/08/2019 08:46

Ooo and growing veg. That's just a way of life for us but I suppose that's a hobby.

highheelsandbobblehats · 13/08/2019 08:47

Crochet. I'm 36 and have just started drum lessons, which I love, even though it's hard and I don't have natural rhythm. I've always wanted to learn and was inspired when my DS (aged 8) started learning last year. He's really good. And now we have a full sized kit at home, so why not. Plus he loves helping me when I get stuck.

I play poker once a week in a league. We play for points and a few times a year those in our pub league with the highest points go to Regional finals and then the top 7 finishers from there go to Nationals. I made it to Nationals in 2011 when pregnant with DS1, then took a break because, family. I got back into it a few months ago and I love it. Going to Regionals again in a couple of weeks.

Up until last summer, running and the gym, but a dodgy knee has put a stop to that for the time being. I try it out on occasion, but usually about two miles in, it starts screaming again so I need to stop. It's been a year, hurry up and heal.

I love active things like climbing and hiking, bit don't do then enough to count as a hobby, more an interest that I do when the opportunity arises.

I do jigsaws, I belong to the British Jigsaw Puzzle Library.
They lend you beautiful hand cut wooden jigsaws.
You only get told the dimensions and a title.
I find it both soothing and challenging.

MyOtherProfile · 13/08/2019 09:19

Applique, crochet, sewing, drawing. I like portable hobbies.

dollydaydream114 · 13/08/2019 09:55

Oh and I also write fiction for fun! Can't believe I forgot that.

mynameisMrG · 13/08/2019 09:55

I quilt and sew. Been a lot of babies born in my family and friends recently so it’s been a busy time which sometimes takes the relaxing part away. I like anything creative really even though I’m not very good. Adult education classes are a great place to find a new hobby. I did cooking and sewing through those. Best thing I’ve done in ages. Oh and I love a jigsaw in winter

dollydaydream114 · 13/08/2019 09:55

And makeup is probably a hobby for me too, really

dollydaydream114 · 13/08/2019 09:56

Oh and I love a jigsaw in winter

A jigsaw while listening to a really gripping audiobook is one of my favourite winter pleasures on a Saturday afternoon!

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 13/08/2019 09:58

I swim, ride, and am an amateur artist. Sadly I don't get too much time for the latter these days!

When the DC is a little older I'm hoping the whole family can learn to sail.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 13/08/2019 09:58

Oh yes - also a keen fell-walker and nature-watcher!
