not AIBU, but trying to better myself and get out a bit more.
I have completely forgotten who I am and what I like.
so what are your hobbies?

OP posts:
randomchap · 13/08/2019 07:39

Pub quizzes, gigs, football.

Things to get out of the house and be with others as being a single parent can be socially isolating.

Therunecaster · 13/08/2019 07:41

Warhamner 40k. It's got me broke.

PooWillyBumBum · 13/08/2019 07:43

I’m trying to achieve fluency in French. I go to a conversation group/lesson every week.

Reading - if that counts - I’m a member of two book clubs.

I run and go to the gym but that’s more part of my routine than a hobby. I used to CrossFit which was definitely a hobby as it sucked so much time and energy!

When I have time I also love to sew.

Lyricallie · 13/08/2019 07:45

Kayaking and volunteering with the guides. I used to do a lot of archery but haven’t found a group I like here. Also I’ve just started surf lessons.

DENMAN03 · 13/08/2019 07:52

My horses, going to horse trials and competitions with them and I also love painting and drawing.

madcatladyforever · 13/08/2019 07:52

I make half inch and quarter inch adult colector dollshouses and all the furniture. I have a large collection of wonderful things to go in them from various dollshouse fairs
Gardening especially rose cultivation.
Occult ritual and magic with a working group I belong to
Cats
Cross stitch and needlework
Collecting gemstones and crystals
Hiking in the national park I live in
Collecting hagstones and shells from the beach
There are more but I work full time and don't have a lot of spare time.

TravellingSpoon · 13/08/2019 07:59

I have just taken up hula hooping which is my newest thing. I love it.

Beyond that, I swim 4-5 times a week (less in the holidays) and I am on a pub quiz team.

Dobbyhasnomaster · 13/08/2019 08:03

Ice skating, going to the football, reading!

GOODCAT · 13/08/2019 08:06

Horse riding, swimming, running and cycling. Reading, diy and field maintenance for the horses.

Stationeryqueen · 13/08/2019 08:08

I play doubles tennis...quite badly!
Photography & flying RC's
Baking & sugarcraft- that is more in the winter.

Also not my hobby but I do support DP at motorbike races, it has a great social side!

Ticklemeelmo · 13/08/2019 08:09

I'm a figure skater, been doing it for 15 years now. It is the best workout, and definitely beats the gym

Cornishclio · 13/08/2019 08:10

Hiking, coastal walking, cycling, reading, gardening, swimming, gym and researching family history. Probably a few more I have forgotten but am early retired so got more time for hobbies now.

randomsabreuse · 13/08/2019 08:15

Horse riding, fencing, running, crochet and cross stitch are my long term hobbies although crochet and cross stitch seem to be more of the collection of kits than doing type at the moment (Thanks kids!)

Just gave up playing in a concert band as really struggled with the number of weekends (Also kids).

Will stick to things where my ability to attend affects me only.

Whattodo20192 · 13/08/2019 08:15

I'm on mat leave and my dh works away during the week so I can't go out on the evenings once the baby is asleep.
I'm finding it so hard being at home and not working. So I've started online courses that I can do at my own pace, just for my own enjoyment. Yesterday I started a make up course, next I'm going to do an interior design course.

Greyhound22 · 13/08/2019 08:18

Horses I can't ride anymore due to illness but I've got a pony for my son. I also volunteer as a fence judge for British Eventing.

Yoga

Greyhounds

Womblesmurf · 13/08/2019 08:18

Volunteering is great way to discover new interests and skills and to meet new people.
How about a charity shop, local museum, National Trust place (they have lots of different volunteer roles) or an animal rescue centre? Smile

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 13/08/2019 08:18

Weight training: I'm a wannabe bodybuilder Blush

Football: I have a season ticket to the club I've supported for 40 years and .... the season is underway. Yaaay Grin

Reading and running.

lazylinguist · 13/08/2019 08:24

Running (sprained/broken little toe atm though Sad), knitting, occasional crochet, studying Spanish (planning to do an A Level). I'm also toying with the idea of taking up (machine) sewing - there's a beginners' course on near me soon.

lazylinguist · 13/08/2019 08:25

Oh and I'm in a choir too.

rodentforce · 13/08/2019 08:26

Knitting
Learning Welsh (I'm Welsh but was never a Welsh speaker)
Hiking

Used to run regularly but have mostly replaced it with incorporating long walks into my lifestyle (getting a Fitbit was a good motivator for this) - although seeing all the mentions of running here is making me nostalgic!

My kids do a martial art and I have promised that when they move into the adult class I will join them ... at which stage they are going to be quite advanced. Will see how that goes!

clary · 13/08/2019 08:27

I run and swim.

I officiate at athletics events (summer only really) and also volunteer in the committee of the club.

I am learning the piano (hard, have taken a bit of a break)

I read and am in two book clubs - that's a really good way of getting out

I also enjoy baking and crafty things like a bit of knitting.

WendyBagina · 13/08/2019 08:27

Due to study (now finished, finally!) I pretty much only have reading and playing The Sims as my hobbies. I'm considering learning to crochet or knit, or learn another language.

Handbaghag · 13/08/2019 08:29

Seen anything you like yet OP? I taught myself crochet off YouTube after realising I had no hobbies when I suffered anxiety and depression a few years ago. The most helpful thing I did was a paint by numbers! So absorbing. I also took up card making, but on a simple level..a bit of oil pastel scribble and blend, rip the paper edges, stick on a card etc. Oh and jewellery making. I also bought a piano and a teach yourself book.
