Just out of simple curiosity really, and to see how our rent compares with other parts of the country.

I’ll go first. We pay £700 a month for a privately rented three bedroom flat in East Anglia. That’s actually relatively cheap for a three bed (most go for around £800/£900 here) but that’s probably because the third bedroom is tiny.

£495 2 bed mid terrace, Derby

WhyBirdStop · 10/08/2019 23:11

We own but the house across the road is split into two flats and one has just gone up for rent, it's a one bed but with a share of the garden £950 a month, that's Essex walkable to a mainline station into London, popular with commuters.

WhyBirdStop · 10/08/2019 23:12

For context that's more than my mortgage

WhyBirdStop · 10/08/2019 23:14

@Branleuse what a difference just between the North and South of the county

Seren85 · 10/08/2019 23:15

Until we bought last year we were paying 450 for a two bed terrace in the NW. Rent never went up in six years but the house was damp and leaking.

AtSea1979 · 10/08/2019 23:15

North east seems to be a very cheap area to live. Been on holiday and there’s some lovely spots up there.
I’m north west and pay £800 for 3 bed house.

Asta19 · 10/08/2019 23:15

£650 for a 4 bed in London zone 2. It’s HA hence the ridiculously low rent for the area. I thank my lucky stars every day that I have this place.

For a three bed flat

PickAChew · 10/08/2019 23:19

Durham. House a few doors up is a rental with only 2 bedrooms to our 3 and a real damp problem. Was listed for £950pm, less than a year ago.

Big hospital and police HQ nearby, plus a university town, so rents are sky high.

mrspotatohed · 10/08/2019 23:21

575 three bed with garden and drive in north west

aLilNonnyMouse · 10/08/2019 23:29

£500 for a 3 bed ground floor flat. It's a bit cheaper than other flats nearby as my rent hasn't been raised in 5 years. It would go for around £650 now.
