..to ask all Leave supporters ( and anyone else) to write to their MP and say you will accept an NI only backstop so that we can leave the EU in an orderly way on 31 October 2019?

Just that. We could leave on that basis . The EU is up for it. Are you?

@SilverySurfer I'm assuming you've got a solution for the NI issue then? And to all the likely issues a no deal will bring? Or is pointing out those "incessant whining"?

Any of the many opinion polls that have been taken in any serious way show that there is very little movement from either side.

Tellmetruth4 · 10/08/2019 20:19

No because I have a job, family to feed and a mortgage to pay and don’t support any type of Brexit.

hopelesslycynical · 10/08/2019 20:19

Like Hell will I! I’ve already written to my MP asking her to vote for another referendum. #peoplesvote

chergar · 10/08/2019 20:20

As long as Scotland get the same deal as NI

In the words of Peter Hitchens - who was voting in the first referendum, squirrels?

There are two "simple" solutions to NI when linked with Brexit.

1/ We all stay in the SM & CU
or
2/ We don't leave the EU.

1 won't happen because parliament doesn't want it
and
2 won't happen because no-one in parliament has the balls to do it.

RedSheep73 · 10/08/2019 20:25

A) I would never support leave in any way whatsoever, ever.
B) My MP is a complete tosser, he's far to busy licking bojo's arse to bother with letters from constituents, especially not mine. I'm on his spam list.

chergar · 10/08/2019 20:26

In all seriousness though, the original referendum was voted on a pack of lies, not mistruths, actual bare faced lies.

If leave are so confident they can win without the use of lies what harm does a second referendum do?

As for democracy and will of the people surely it is undemocratic to plod on with Brexit when the electorate were deliberately lied to and not given the facts and means to make a rational choice.

RedSheep73 · 10/08/2019 20:26

@AsTheWorldTurns Squirrels would have made less of a mess!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/08/2019 20:26

I’ll look in to it. My mp is a Tory remainer, am sure he’d listen. Have had wine tonight, but will research tomorrow.

bellinisurge one of the few mn westminstenders I respect tbh.

jasjas1973 · 10/08/2019 20:31

Writing to an MP will make little difference.. do they even read these emails/letters? or care if they do?

Tory MPs will support their Govt, as they want to further their careers, look at Jo Johnson or Matt Hancock? (both hard core ex remainers) no-deal brexit won't affect them as they are already sure of financial security due to being MPs, regardless if they lose their seat - ever met a ex MP working as a taxi driver?

Until the polls swing firmly behind remain, its brexit, with or without a deal and as its too late now, we are leaving on 31/10, as am i with my Irish passport, my taxes are not going to be used to support a self harming UK.

OMG WOULD THE OP LEARN A TINY BIT OF IRIS HISTORY. HAS SHE ANY IDEA WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT, VIOLENCE WOULD ERUPT IMMEDIATELY IF THE BACKSTOP WAS DROPPED AND THE EU CANNOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN

bellinisurge · 10/08/2019 20:42

@jasjas1973 , my MP had replied to me. I don't bombard them with correspondence- I've written twice on Brexit since 2016 and once on a local issue.
They have to at least read it. Or their office does if they are too grand. If you don't write to them, how do they know how their constituents feel about Brexit.
If they ignore you, it's on them. You tried.

LaurieMarlow · 10/08/2019 20:48

So those who want to brexit and don’t want the backstop, how do you propose sorting the NI border without jeopardising the GFA?

Answers please.

Before anyone starts arguing that a border isn’t required it most definitely is by WTO rules.

Saddler · 10/08/2019 20:49

No I want a no deal Brexit

StrippingTheVelvet · 10/08/2019 20:49

I saw this on my fb earlier Grin

LaurieMarlow · 10/08/2019 20:50

No I want a no deal Brexit

What should be done about the NI border then?
