DH left me at home with no snacks

30 weeks pregnant. DD asleep.
DH gone to friends house for drinks. Which is fine but I asked him to get me pudding and a drink from the shop at the end of the road before he left. He left and forgot to get it even though I said it as he was saying bye. AIBU to be majorly pissed off and grumpy.
He's at friends now and won't be back before I'm in bed.
I wanted something nice to drink and some chocolate!! Sad

I can’t see the point of marriage unless you are actually nice to one another (maybe why I am divorced!)

If you had no food and he was going out to eat, he could easily have popped out to get you a snack first. Cheapest babysitting he will ever get... Was plain me to forget all about you.

However, as pointed out above, in the internet age there are loads of options. Or the pre-internet day solution, ask a friendly neighbour to either ‘lend’ you some food or pop out for you.

larrygrylls · 10/08/2019 07:21

Mean not me... and not a Freudian slip!

Deathraystare · 10/08/2019 07:24

Hope you got yourself something nice. Leave the evidence around - I hope it is something he would have liked. Next time he asks you to get something while you are going out - it is perfectly ok to have temporary memory loss that remembers only what you want!

GizzardChops · 10/08/2019 07:26

HOW WAS THE MILKSHAKE OP?!!!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 10/08/2019 07:28

Blimey I've only read the first page and some people are soooo serious!

YA absolutely NBU Grin

PrincessaCarrisi · 10/08/2019 07:39

Hope the milkshake hit the spot, but for next time here is a great mug cake recipe which I make waaaay to often

1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons oil
1/4 cup milk plus 1 tablespoon

It's best made in a bowl, you just whisk everything together and cooks in 1min 10 secs (depending on microwave)

Grumpasaurus · 10/08/2019 07:41

People are crazy on here st time!

Op you are definitely not being unreasonable. I'd be sad and I am not even pregnant. I just really like snacks!

JapaneseBirdPainting · 10/08/2019 07:42

I am a bit worried that the milkshake by the time it came was sort of warm and melted.

NoSauce · 10/08/2019 07:59

I’m sure the milkshake was fine. They’ll have a cool box or similar to transport it.

icecreamsundae32 · 10/08/2019 08:43

@Countrysidelife I have never heard of pick n mix delivery I got so excited but they don't deliver to me 😢

@Howdidido hope your milkshake was nice! I'd have felt the same as you.... I regularly sent my dh to the shop for fizzy sweets when I was pregnant they were my must haves!!

BuildBuildings · 10/08/2019 08:45

Sexnotgender · 10/08/2019 10:52

Did you get your milkshake? I must know!

herculepoirot2 · 10/08/2019 11:03

Of course he should have gone. You’re 30 weeks pregnant and about to spend the evening looking after your shared child so he can go out drinking.

Watch out - cool wives about. 🙄

transformandriseup · 10/08/2019 11:14

Sorry but I think it is OP DH responsibility to make sure there was enough in the house before he left. My DH always does this as he knows its hard to get the pram into our local shop plus I feel very low/tired when I go for a while without sugar. OP is looking after his child while he is out.

hsegfiugseskufh · 10/08/2019 11:17

Yanbu at all op. Mumsnet is full of misrerable twats and martyrs who obviously have to do everything themselves and dont like that everyone else doesnt have to do the same.

Not really, some people just don't really understand why someone would get upset about having to go a few hours without eating snacks, pregnant or not. I must admit I don't really, if I was hungry I'd just make some toast. And I'm a long way from being cool. As for her husband, honestly I'd just assume he'd forgotten to bring them home. I forget stuff all the time, didn't realise it was a crime.

hsegfiugseskufh · 10/08/2019 11:20

Toast is not going to hit the spot for someone 30wks pregnant though is it? Come on!

hsegfiugseskufh · 10/08/2019 11:20

Threads like these make me realise my dp is bloody great.

herculepoirot2 · 10/08/2019 11:24

Doesn’t really matter, does it? The OP did want snacks, and her DP could easily have got them for her.

Pinkout · 10/08/2019 11:25

YANBU. I think people underestimate how important food is to a pregnant woman!

Scruffalicious · 10/08/2019 11:27

I feel your pain, OP. JustEat, Ocado Zoom, Uber Eats, Deliveroo, etc... NONE of these operate in our area and none of the takeaways independently deliver to our village either.

It sucks so badly.

ineedaholidaynow · 10/08/2019 11:42

All the delivery suggestions are great if you live in an area that does them, but some of us don't!

The snack cupboard is a great idea too, unless you are like me and would have emptied it as soon as I filled it up Blush

feelingverylazytoday · 10/08/2019 14:38

Well I've been pregnant 3 times, and I'm pretty sure it would have done me. Probably with jam, honey or marmalade, which are things you put in your normal shopping (if you like them), surely.
I'm not actually criticising the OP, I'm sure she was being light hearted, but I can easily understand why a lot of posters would not relate to it at all and just roll their eyes.

NoSauce · 10/08/2019 14:40

I suggested jam and toast, it’s easy and sweet. Not the most amazing food I’ll geanr you but needs must if you’ve nothing much in.

tinatsarina · 10/08/2019 14:47

@Howdidido I understand. I would be annoyed to. When I was pregnant I sent my partner out for ice cream from a specific shop. It was closed so he came back with carte d'Or rather than the home made style ice cream I wanted. I was so disappointed and annoyed. It may be a bit U but your pregnant so it's understandable.
