Been saving for a cheap UK break.
Boyfriend said he was going to sort it as a surprise.
It was a surprise all right.
He has booked a caravan park (park dene resorts) less than 10 minutes from our house for a week.
Now it's not the fact it's a caravan,I enjoy a little caravan trip ...but 10 mins from our house...what is the point.
Nothing new to explore,or towns close by to visit that we don't go to all the time.
It's cost £409 for a week (well Monday to Friday )
Would you be a bit miffed ?

Yeh, that's shit. Completely pointless waste of money.

thenightsky · 08/08/2019 22:53

I'd be mega-miffed. At least you can go home to do laundry, eat contents of your own fridge etc.

Fleetheart · 08/08/2019 22:53

What a ridiculous idea! What is he thinking of?

yesnomaybes · 08/08/2019 22:53

I just feel like he might as well of bought a tent and stuck it in the back garden.
He's wondering why I'm not excited?

pigsDOfly · 08/08/2019 22:53

Over £400 to move ten minutes down the road for five days. I'd be more than a bit miffed.

Fleetheart · 08/08/2019 22:54

Can you get a refund. Seems pointless to me too. Just to be less comfortable than you are at home.

yesnomaybes · 08/08/2019 22:54

He said it will save money on travelling costs.
Even a caravan park over a hour away would have been better.
We are only 1 1/2 hours from Scotland.
The caravan park up there is the same flipping price.

DillyDilly · 08/08/2019 22:55

Is it a joke, maybe he has actually booked somewhere else ?

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 08/08/2019 22:55

That’s totally crap. Is he normally so dense? Is it possible to get a refund?

yesnomaybes · 08/08/2019 22:55

No refunds,I'm dreading it.
I'm not sure how we are meant to pass the days away.

Such a stupid waste of money. My friend and her DP had their first anniversary a few weeks ago. She booked a hotel in the city they live in... I just don’t understand, you may as well stay at home!

SkelterHelter · 08/08/2019 22:56

Think I'd ask him to cancel. It sounds awful. Is he able to get some/all of this money back?

BuildBuildings · 08/08/2019 22:56

That's not just crap, it's a really odd thing to do.

Floralnomad · 08/08/2019 22:56

Absolute waste of time and money , I’d rather have had one night in a really good hotel with a decent dinner than that . I just wouldn’t bother to go .

yesnomaybes · 08/08/2019 22:56

@DillyDilly I wish it was a joke,I've seen the confirmation.
Don't get me wrong the caravan is lovely but the location is ridiculous.

OP posts:
gungera · 08/08/2019 22:56

What an idiot, that's completely pointless

RomaineCalm · 08/08/2019 22:56

Oh dear. I'm usually on the side of anyone who has tried to do a good thing as a surprise but I'd be pretty miffed about this.

Is there any way to transfer the booking to a different site?

Chilledout11 · 08/08/2019 22:57

That's a joke and waste of money. Scotland would be lovely. I would try and transfer.

Walnutwhipster · 08/08/2019 22:57

I know a few people who do this but it's usually because it has absolutely everything they want on tap. I live in a seaside resort so there's quite a lot to do. Presumably he knows you like to go off and explore new places as a key factor when you're away so YANBU to be upset at his choice.

yesnomaybes · 08/08/2019 22:57

If anyone here is from the north east it's crimdon dene caravan park ...and we live in Hartlepool ..actually it's showing 8 min drive at the min.

MustShowDH · 08/08/2019 22:57

He MUST be winding you up!

DrFoxtrot · 08/08/2019 22:58

Is there a hot tub? Anything on site to make it better? I'd be feeling miffed too.

PancakeAndKeith · 08/08/2019 22:58

I can understand being 10 minutes down the road if it was a really lovely hotel for the night or a couple of days but not a caravan for a week.
At least you’ll be able to pop home for a shit and a shower.

Cheeringmeup · 08/08/2019 22:58

Oh no, that’s rubbish! I quite like a caravan too, but what’s the point of so close to home? Better facilities at home and paying that much for the pleasure - that would be a big petted lip from me! Don’t understand what he’d think you would like that at all...

DrFoxtrot · 08/08/2019 22:59

You can get European city breaks on Travelzoo for less than that.
