Would you find it awkward - bride singing to groom at wedding

ShutUpandSing · 08/08/2019 19:30

I'm not sure whether to do this at my upcoming wedding or not.

Not in any way a stealth brag but I think relevant... I can sing (well I think!) and did vocal studies at university.

The problem is I have quite bad anxiety and get nervous over what people think! I never had the confidence to take it anywhere.

Be honest, what would think to this?

OP posts:

Oh Jesus, Peonies, I’m howling at the poor groom having to bop about like a gobshite to his oh’s random shrieking Grin
I’d have disgraced myself if I’d been there. I’m not very nice...

maddiemookins16mum · 08/08/2019 20:28

I’d need a large gin to watch it and just hope nobody thinking the exact same catches my eye as you’re half way through I will always love you.

PixieLumos · 08/08/2019 20:28

Oh cringe! But it’s your wedding - whatever makes you happy.

Buyitinbamboo · 08/08/2019 20:32

My friend sang at her wedding but it was with the band and a upbeat non love related song so it was lovely

piperatthegates · 08/08/2019 20:32

Have none of you ever seen Tom Fletcher (McFly) singing to Giovanna at their wedding. I thought it was lovely but it looks like I'm in the minority on here.

OP I say if you can sing in tune go for it!

Notrusthere · 08/08/2019 20:32

Reading title only...

Fuck yes! Awkward and cringey.

...now off to read the full thread

Stuckforthefourthtime · 08/08/2019 20:33

If you AND your husband (or your bridesmaids) sung something together and it was fun and aimed at the guests then it wouldn't be my style, but would be fun.

Bride singing to groom would bring on a Fawlty Towers level cringe. But like others say, you're day, your way!

Ellmau · 08/08/2019 20:34

I think it might depend on the song.

DragonMamma · 08/08/2019 20:36

I don’t think I could watch this.

I would be dying for everybody involved Grin

Boysey45 · 08/08/2019 20:36

How embarrassingly bad, don't do it, everyone will be laughing and taking the piss. What song are you thinking of?

MrsTommyBanks · 08/08/2019 20:39

Sorry I would cringe so hard I'd turn inside out. Regardless of how well the singing is.

brookelopez · 08/08/2019 20:39

I've had to close this thread down twice just from cringing at the thought.

PolkaDotted · 08/08/2019 20:39

One of my mottos in life is if the Fletchers do it then avoid it like the plague. They are the most annoying/cringeworthy couple.

BunnyJumps · 08/08/2019 20:39

I'd probably giggle OP!

Sandybval · 08/08/2019 20:40

I'd be cringing quietly to myself, but more as my social awkwardness would never allow me to do such things. However it is your and your husband to bes day so if you want to sing you should go for it!

lastqueenofscotland · 08/08/2019 20:41

I’m cringing so hard my teeth hurt just thinking about this

rwalker · 08/08/2019 20:41

All i can think of is kite price and peter andr'e when they did this.
But depending on how formal the night do is you could do a song there to get everyone to dance to not just watch you perform.

Boysey45 · 08/08/2019 20:41

Whats the song? is it Like A Virgin?

Flamingosnbears · 08/08/2019 20:42

Your wedding therefore your choice who cares what anyone els thinks...

ReanimatedSGB · 08/08/2019 20:43

Fucking hell, there's some miserable mundanes on this thread. If you like singing and your H2B likes singing, why on earth wouldn't you?

(The only thing that is cringy is when a wedding guest with an over-inflated idea of their own vocal chops decides to sing for the couple, unasked.)

PolkaDotted · 08/08/2019 20:45

You do love that word Mundanes, don't you SGB?

KOKOtiltomorrow · 08/08/2019 20:46

OP I don’t get some of the responses you are getting. Assuming your wedding party is full of people who actually know and like you, if I was there I’d love to hear you singing!! Seems to me there are some pretty harsh people on here. Go for it!!!

PolkaDotted · 08/08/2019 20:46

The OP asked for opinions. We gave ours as requested. People aren't miserable just because they don't agree with you.

Mummyshark2018 · 08/08/2019 20:49

If you can sing and you want to then go for it! What would your dh think? If he's heard you sing loads and you don't think it would embarrass him then I wouldn't worry about anyone else.

Toffeecakes · 08/08/2019 20:50

Yeah. I’d have to leave the room. Please don’t.
