Charged a tenner at travelodge to check in early ...

So I could leave luggage - left luggage was full.
Ok so it’s only a tenner but they said “yeah the rooms ready” Check In was 3pm. This was 1.30.

A bit crap IMO

I think so too. And how can the left luggage be full. But it is a travelodge, they are a bit grim.

timeforakinderworld · 08/08/2019 10:31

Did you not contest it? It's not your fault left luggage is full!

Singleandproud · 08/08/2019 10:32

Well, left luggage normally gives priority to guests that are checking out. If its full, its full.
Leaving your case at ‘left luggage; at a train station would also cost around £10 so seems fair and you get access to your room.

Honeyroar · 08/08/2019 10:35

If it's full it's full. They don't have to provide lost luggage space for infinite guests. They have a room, it might fill up quickly if near a station or airport.. I'd rather have my suitcase in my room early and pay £10 personally.

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:35

Yeah. They said it’s under terms and conditions. I was really polite too. Was a ‘super room’. Was quite nice

OP posts:
matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:36

Yeah. I can see that. But the room was ready. 90 minutes. 🙄

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2019 10:36

It’s fairly rough to charge £10 for early check in when the room is ready and you haven’t requested early check in.

Travel Lodge are fairly useless full stop though.

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:37

Normally do Novotel or premier inn if just needing a bed tbh.

OP posts:
BIWI · 08/08/2019 10:38

It's a budget hotel, so these kind of extra charges are only to be expected. Better service for guests = more cost!

TSSDNCOP · 08/08/2019 10:38

You can pay £10 to check out late too!

GhostBusting · 08/08/2019 10:39

They do state this though. It's something you can select when you book the room (same as premier inn)

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2019 10:41

Isn’t the point though that the OP didn’t request this.

If the free service they advertise isn’t available, the OP shouldn’t have been charged for an equivalent that was available with no detriment to them.

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:42

I honestly can see both sides, but if I were them id have prioritised good Will over a tenner.

MoreFrog · 08/08/2019 10:42

Travelodge don't provide luggage storage. I stay there often and am familiar with this policy. If you pay extra for early check in, you can obviously put the bags in your room. That's what's happened here

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:43

No. They do/did

Travelodge don't provide luggage storage

The one I stayed in last year did!

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:44

They all do apart from airport ones. Another customer was going mental at the desk and this was what she was told

OP posts:
MoreFrog · 08/08/2019 10:46

I've done it a few times when I've arrived at a Travelodge too early. That's how I know none of them have luggage storage

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2019 10:47

That's how I know none of them have luggage storage

So you mean none of the ones you have been to offered the service.

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:48

Lol frog. We will have to disagree. I could see it with my OWN EYES

OP posts:
MoreFrog · 08/08/2019 10:48

We have different experiences then. I even checked the website and it says they don't. I don't mind accepting that I'm wrong though.

Very wrong!

The Travelodge I use frequently has luggage storage. They let me into my room early without charging.
I did stay in one in Dundee and they couldn't let me early with no charge as the key card is registered on the system and automatically generates a charge.

matahairyy · 08/08/2019 10:53

Aah I see. That makes sense
