To think that males should not be competing against biological females in sports

Another sporting body, this time Australian cricket, now allow anyone born male to self identify as a woman and compete in women's sports.

At the same time new "inclusion rules" say it's a breach for women to refuse to compete with trans athletes, use the wrong pronoun for them or say they're uncomfortable sharing the changing rooms with them.

AIBU to think that this is the beginning of the end for women's sports if allowed to continue?

And how can women fight against this if they are not allowed to speak out?

YANBU. It's the end of women being able to compete fairly and safely in sport.

Adversecamber22 · 08/08/2019 09:36

YANBU in the least.

Mumminmum · 08/08/2019 09:43

It is unfair and sad.

Propertyofhood · 08/08/2019 09:43

Nope YANBU obviously.

How anyone can justify this is beyond me.

Campervan69 · 08/08/2019 09:45

It's maddening. How can female athletes even protest this if they are penalised for doing so? A sporting career is very short and you have to compete when you can to get maximum advantage.

YANBU but it's only one example of the TRA movement decimating women's rights. There are many more and it is only getting worse.

Read up on Jonathan Yaniv, biological male suing biological women who refused to wax his penis and testicles. Women are beauty therapists, working from home (often alone or with young DCs present) and Yaniv claimed to be a female when booking the appointments for a 'bikini wax'.

Women are being sued for refusing to touch male genitalia and people (including brainwashed, non-gc 'feminists') are taking his side.

And that's not to mention his menstruation fetish that includes sending messages to teenage girls asking if it's ok to teach a 10 year old to use a tampon should she start her period in a changing room when he is present, and approaching naked women with visible tampon strings to "bond over period stuff".

But of course, protecting his rights to falsely appropriate womanhood is more important than proctecting children from predators like him.

Wishihad · 08/08/2019 09:50

Yanbu.

Womes sport is finally starting to get somewhere. As in sport for girls and young women.

I have seen a girl actually give up her sport, after a teenage male turned up to compete against her in the girls under 13 section.

It was kick boxing. She isnt allowed to fight boy who present as boys. But can fight boys who claim they are girls?

What was the point in training all the time, putting all that effort in, when competition isnt fair and can never be fair.

Why arent girls allowed to compete against boys, but it's all of a sudden it ok if that boy say they are a girl? How is that safe?

Campervan69 · 08/08/2019 09:52

It should be XX females only in women's sports. The biology is so completely different. "Identifying" as a woman doesn't mean that your biology changes in any way.

YANBU

This is just misogyny dressed up as progressiveness. If you read all the twitter comments nobody is buying it, men and women alike. This is being pushed on society from the top down and a serious backlash is building.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/08/2019 10:00

YANBU. Do you have a link?

practicalmagick · 08/08/2019 10:00

Cricket is an interesting case because women have played in men's teams a few times before (not at international level though as far as I'm aware).

Generally I think YANBU but cricket is a bit of an exception as the physical difference between women and men seems to have less impact there than in other sports. I think it will be interesting to hear what female cricketers think about it.

OooErMissus · 08/08/2019 10:00

It's infuriating.

I was peak transed when Gavin Hubbard claimed he was a woman and started competing (read: cheating) against women in my country's name.

So embarrassing.

Campervan69 · 08/08/2019 10:02

www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/cricket-australia-launches-its-transgender-and-gender-diverse-policy-20190807-p52eq9.html

This is the policy - it all kicked off on Twitter which is where I saw it.

I think male upper body strength will be so apparent here in bowling and batting surely?

It's a fucking disgrace

CitadelsofScience · 08/08/2019 10:03

practical I highly doubt a woman on the receiving end of a male pace bowler would agree with that.

OooErMissus · 08/08/2019 10:03

And I couldn't give a shit what your hormone levels are - not one shiny shit.

You're a man in a man's body, with a man's physique and a man's musculature.

If you compete against women, you're cheating.

Teddybear45 · 08/08/2019 10:03

Women’s cricket is really getting on the map in terms of fan following etc, but it’s really India who makes up the rules globally for this as that is where the majority of global sponsorship money rests. In India trans women are not classified as female (India enshrines 3 sexes in law) and so when these trans women from other countries aren not permitted to compete for extra cash in Indian IPL matches etc the matter will sort itself out.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/08/2019 10:04

Women have played in men's teams, but not at elite levels and this was rare. Now there are women's teams. Put another way, most elite cricket will remain as a men's sport and there will be a women's (mixed) team too. Women will miss out.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/08/2019 10:05

You are absolutely NOT being unreasonable.

Agree with SnuggyBuggy ..... it's a fucking disgrace Angry

practicalmagick · 08/08/2019 10:06

In case anyone is interested in female cricketers playing in men's pro teams: Arran Brindle plays for Lincolnshire in the ECB Men's Premier League and Kate Cross plays in the Central Lancashire League.

However there is obviously an ability gap because these women are high level international players in the women's game and play at a much lower level in the men's game. I'm not sure if they're allowed to play at international men's level but I would suspect they would be if they identified themselves as male and were good enough to be selected... that is a very big "if" though.

Teddybear45 · 08/08/2019 10:06

I think we also need to point out that in south Asia a trans woman, and especially one from another country, could never be used for sponsorship. So if Australia does fill it’s women’s team with trans athletes then these women may never be selected for elite Indian sports opportunities.

Manderleyagain · 08/08/2019 10:07

No you are not. It is not fair. It's potentially dangerous. I can't see it going down well with most Australians. Is it getting media coverage there?

Wishihad, what country was that in? It is seriously unsafe for in a sport like that at 12. There really needs to be legal challenges to these policies. To me, the club were discriminating against the girl and not providing a safe environment for her by choosing not to keep the league single sex.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/08/2019 10:08

You. Must. Be. Fucking. Joking.

Would you like to test this by standing and facing a ball from Jofra Archer? It'd break your friggin neck if you didn't connect!!!!

Fraggling · 08/08/2019 10:11

'Generally I think YANBU but cricket is a bit of an exception as the physical difference between women and men seems to have less impact there than in other sports'

At an elite level, really?

Campervan69 · 08/08/2019 10:11

Also female cricketers aren't going to be able to tell us how they feel about it as they will be in breach of the "inclusivity guidelines" if they are anything other than effusive about allowing males in their teams
