To buy a birthday cake when it's not my birthday...

Or anyone else in the houses birthday!
I just really want cake, and for some reason only birthday cake is appealing to me at the moment. I'm not even pregnant so can't use cravings as an excuse. Tell me wise mumsnetters is it totally weird to buy birthday cake when it's not for a birthday? 😂

isseywithcats · 04/08/2019 14:51

i never need an excuse to eat cake and if birthday cake is what you want buy it and enjoy

MrsTommyBanks · 04/08/2019 14:51

Do it.

PumpkinP · 04/08/2019 14:57

I buy them if reduced but I wouldn’t pay full price if it wasn’t a birthday

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/08/2019 14:59

I buy reduced birthday cakes. They make me feel happy!

Teacakeandalatte · 04/08/2019 15:01

Be like Alice in wonderland and have an unbirthday tea party.

Roughday · 04/08/2019 15:01

I love a birthday cake . And now you have made me want one too running out the door to get cake

WTF0ver · 04/08/2019 15:02

Why not!

LJS8987 · 04/08/2019 15:05

ArgusFilchsCat · 04/08/2019 15:11

I've just made a birthday cake OP. Do you want a slice? Cake Grin

Loopytiles · 04/08/2019 15:12

Why not just buy a slice?

pigsDOfly · 04/08/2019 15:15

Why the hell not?

I don't eat cake, had to give up things like that when I started trying to bring down my very high cholesterol, but if you can, and you want to, go for it.

FlamingoQueen · 04/08/2019 15:17

Could you buy a cake for the Duchess of Sussex as it’s her birthday today? Unfortunately though, I don’t think you would be allowed to give it to her and you wouldn’t want it going to waste now, would you?

SnuggyBuggy · 04/08/2019 15:18

I did this once when I went away to uni and no one could stop me Grin. It's very nice with tea.

Sassenach85 · 04/08/2019 15:19

I told people at work that I did this once and they still go on about it like I admitted to something crazy!

glueandstick · 04/08/2019 15:20

Who are the miserable 4% who say YABU?

Dieu · 04/08/2019 15:20

I got an M&S 'extremely chocolatey' birthday cake the other day. Soooo good. It was reduced and I felt like all my Christmases had come at once!

ferntwist · 04/08/2019 15:20

Go for it! Love birthday cake. Even nicer when it’s not your birthday as you don’t have to share Grin

tealandteal · 04/08/2019 15:20

Ultimately its just cake, which is a very normal thing to have on a Sunday afternoon.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 04/08/2019 15:25

I forgot it was the Duchess of Sussex birthday today, that obviously gives me a reason @FlamingoQueen!

Thanks for not making me seem like a crazy person everyone Grin

Am off to buy cake!

Whitelisbon · 04/08/2019 15:29

Google who's birthday is it today. Pick one, and celebrate their birthday we do this regularly, kids love it

VictoriaBun · 04/08/2019 15:29

Don't forget we need to see a photo as evidence !
to drool over

Dangerfloof · 04/08/2019 15:34

Oh my I remember when my children were little and I wanted cake. I would give a teddy/doll/pet/dumptruck toy a birthday just so I could have some cake.
Ahh the memories.
Pretty sure one teddy had a lot of birthdays
