To ask leavers if they would vote differently now it's looking like no deal?

And as such should we go for another referendum?

I voted to remain and would continue to do so even if a deal was possible. However it is apparent that a deal isn't going to happen. Was it ever really going to be possible?

Would that change the mind of leavers? Or even remainers?

I would prefer to see no deal (even though I know its shit) than for this car crash to continue in slow motion any further.

I don't know why no-dealers think it will all be over after Halloween. We still have all the hard work to do of actually negotiating a new relationship with Europe. This is still just the beginning of Brexit.

MrPan · 02/08/2019 08:44

Those errors are least significant.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 02/08/2019 08:45

I was a remainer but am now pro-leave, even without a deal

It's a very irrational fucks-sake-just-do-it feeling

Am an immigrant as well! Shock

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 02/08/2019 08:46

I worked with a guy who came over from Belgium to do some work

Because of the EU.......

MrPan · 02/08/2019 08:47

So what's the winning argument Solitude?

AskMeAboutBoswell · 02/08/2019 08:49

Mrpan, what point am I missing? How is encouraging multiple cultures to thrive and be happy leading to fascism? Why can't people have a currency, and separate ways of doing things?
I'm not suggesting we eliminate 'types' of people!? But celebrating and giving space for it.
Weird how you perceive fascism in that!?

Chocolatehat · 02/08/2019 08:49

I voted remain but would now vote leave. Any organisation that makes it so hard to leave is hard to respect. They are supposed to be our allies and just because we have decided to explore a different path they are punishing us. Also the rise of the far right throughout the EU raises the real prospect that the EU majority will be right wing within the decade.

bellinisurge · 02/08/2019 08:50

Here we go again.

Laiste · 02/08/2019 08:50

Still leave.

longwayoff · 02/08/2019 08:51

A kangaroo state? Hmm please explain.

bellinisurge · 02/08/2019 08:51

NI is a special economic zone and a border in the sea. EU suggested this. We leave on 31 October. Or we Revoke. No Deal is fucking ridiculous.

SilverySurfer · 02/08/2019 08:53

Leave then, Leave now, Leave forever.

CorbynsComrade · 02/08/2019 08:54

@MrPan Yet you address none of my points. Brexit, here we come! Grin

HarryElephante · 02/08/2019 08:54

Mine was not a particularly considered vote tbh

You're in the vast majority there. No one had a clue what they were voting for; leave or remain.

AskMeAboutBoswell · 02/08/2019 08:56

Mrpan isn't able to post within guidelines, suggesting his argument is ad-hominem rather that robust and sound in its facts.

sweetkitty · 02/08/2019 08:57

Just a right bug fucking mess that someone needs to have the balls to come and sort out. We can still trade with Europe and still have a special border in NI.

ImpracticalCape · 02/08/2019 08:58

@Chocolatehat I have never heard anything more ridiculous! The EU have not made it hard. We have decided to leave the biggest trading union in the world but we want all the benefits. Clearly that can't happen. In or out.

The EU have said fine..off you go to your other options. Only the UK are like the ex husband who doesn't want to stay and reckons he's got a nice OW round the corner but wants his dinner cooked and sex every night and his warm comfy bed.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 02/08/2019 09:00

Leave then leave now. Sigh. Yes of course i want to be a part of a Europe wide federal state that punishes anyone who wants to leave...

TheoriginalLEM · 02/08/2019 09:02

@harryelephante I have to agree with you. I voted remain but I'm not going to pretend I knew what it all means.

"ou can't have another referedum because you don't like the result of the first one."

That isn't why i asked the question. I was genuinely interested to see if leavers, or remainers for that matter have changed their vote because of no deal.

I think, THINK, i would still vote to stay if another vote was offered, however if we are leaving I think the time has come to rip off the plaster and just go.

I think what's obvious from this thread is that since the referendum, Leave has still been campaigning to leave the EU.

If there was a new vote I'm fairly confident leave would win again and the lack of noise about a 2nd referendum this last 6 months would suggest that remain politicians feel the same.

I'll always be a remainer and would campaign and vote that way again but it does look like we'll most likely leave now and more likely than not before we conclude a deal.
Even if we had another vote and it went 51% to remain, this whole thing would rumble on regardless and would push the Country further right in it's political leanings which is not something I'm a fan of personally.

It's time to get out. For all the pain I believe will be caused, I'll be fine. And sadly I think it will be the average Brexit voter who will be most affected but we all have to live with it now. Plus I have an EU passport if things get really bad....

TheoriginalLEM · 02/08/2019 09:05

Would the Ireland border issue still have been an issue if the Tories weren't with the DUP? I mean, it should be but would they have pushed things through if the NI leader hadnt said - err, hang on a minute?

@MrPan can I get the point that I'm missing? And an explanation of my 'fascism' please?

spongeandcustard · 02/08/2019 09:08

Voted leave. Would still vote leave

OMGshefoundmeout · 02/08/2019 09:08

I voted leave and bitterly regret it now.

jasjas1973 · 02/08/2019 09:09

If leaving the EU is such a great idea, why do we need a deal? surely we don't at all, we are all told we'd be better off out, no mention that we needed a deal on the ballot paper was there.

Spending billions on no-preparation, 6 billion and counting so far..... that amount would give every elderly person needing it, excellent end of life care, without bankrupting them and paying the poor sods looking after them a much needed pay rise too.

Doesn't make any sense, unless we are all being lied too? Heaven forbid !
