& I'm not talking about for little kids. I HATE this word. I confess I'm biased as I had some unfortunate incidents as a kid but really? Panties, it's SO old-fashioned. Yet I saw the word used in signage in Victoria's Secret today. It just gets under my skin. Knickers, pants, kecks, grundies, ANYTHING but panties.... bleurgh...

That word makes me want to 🤮🤮🤮

Rachelover40 · 31/07/2019 20:53

I haven't heard the word used since I don't know when but it may be used abroad.

RosemarysBush · 31/07/2019 20:53

Haha, nope, I’ve never used it. Sounds silly.

RitaMills · 31/07/2019 20:54

It’s very American. I’m binge watching Law and Order SVU at the moment and literally every episode they refer to ‘panties’ when talking about the victim... it just sounds so wrong.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/07/2019 20:55

Kecks and particularly grundies also make me feel a bit sick.
Pants, knickers, boxers, underwear.
Anything else, no.

Gladiolus45 · 31/07/2019 20:55

Isn't it American for knickers? I'm guessing VS have not anglicised their signage.

wellhonestly · 31/07/2019 20:55

Think it’s a US usage, where “pants” are trousers, “panties” are knickers, and “pantyhose” are tights.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 31/07/2019 20:55

I was always a little bit in love with Dr Luca Kovac in ER until he gave Abby her underwear and sang the word 'pantieeeeeees' as he threw them 🤮

isabellerossignol · 31/07/2019 20:57

I was on the Victoria's secret websites the other day as someone had posted that they were fantastic for bras, wide range of sizes etc. Well, for starters they have a tiny range of sizes so they are useless for the very slim or anyone with large boobs. But moreover I then saw they used the word 'panties' in their menu so I decided there and then that I hate them with a passion.

PinkiOcelot · 31/07/2019 20:58

It’s cringeworthy. I hate it.

Troels · 31/07/2019 21:00

I still use the word Panties, but then I guess my excuss is having lived in the US most of my life. So I get a pass right?

Igotthemheavyboobs · 31/07/2019 21:01

Yanbu in the UK but I think it is just the name for knickers in the USA so yabu as not everyone on here is British born and bred.

sockatoe · 31/07/2019 21:02

Urgh. A bit soft porn to me. No need.

Havaina · 31/07/2019 21:02

I like to say panties in an American accent. Paen-tees.

HollowTalk · 31/07/2019 21:02

There are plenty of men who also like to wear them who call them panties, but I've never heard a woman call them that.

MILlovesBegonias · 31/07/2019 21:02

I'm so glad you agree & it's not just me. Phew..

It just makes me vom.

OP posts:
MidsomerBurgers · 31/07/2019 21:02

I always think it sounds ruder than saying knickers. Panties is an American word though.

MILlovesBegonias · 31/07/2019 21:04

Perhaps I should have said I'm referring to the UK.

OP posts:
HarryDaylight · 31/07/2019 21:04

Only fucking brain dead wankers use this word. And coy shitforbrain women.

Havaina · 31/07/2019 21:05

Not if you use it ironically, then it’s fine to use in the UK.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 31/07/2019 21:06

It's just the American word. I've never known a woman of another nationality say it in my entire life.

Havaina · 31/07/2019 21:06

You’ve got to be really brain dead/shit for brains to be so angry about panties.

LesLavandes · 31/07/2019 21:08

I only heard men who watch a bit of porn use this word

PlinkPlink · 31/07/2019 21:08

That idiot E.L.James writes it a ridiculous amount of times in those 50 Shades of Shite books...

The whole novel was awful but that word right there tipped it over the edge into the 'deserves to be used as kindling' category.

Whatjusthappenedthere · 31/07/2019 21:08

I say this all the time to my kids . As a straight laced middle aged middle income professional. I had no idea. My panties as mahoosive. Should I be calling the pantaloons by now. Fuck, I’m so out of touch. Blush
