The absolute state of the Daily Mail (re Meghan Markle)

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7298013/Meghan-Markles-organic-baby-shawl-used-swaddle-Archie-workers-earning-37-PENCE-hour.html

This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

Isn't it Angela Kelly who makes a lot of the Queen's clothes now?

And a darned good job she makes of it too ...

SenecaFalls · 01/08/2019 13:23

The Queens jewellery collection isn’t her personal property.

Some is and some isn't. Some of it is owned by the Queen by right of the Crown and passes to the next monarch, but she also owns plenty in her own right to do with as she pleases.

BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 01/08/2019 13:53

According to the Royal Foundation website, Invictus was founded by PH in 2014

Well they'd hardly say anything different would they? I expect he "founded" it in the sense he said to some underling "we should do this in the UK" and then the underling went away and made it happen.

TSSDNCOP · 01/08/2019 14:50

You’re absolutely right blames fucking lazy wanker should’ve organised the entire thing himself before taking any credit.

TSSDNCOP · 01/08/2019 14:52

Or he might just have thought as a captain in the army, my injured colleagues would get a kick out of this. I’ll ring round some people I know, throw my weight as a fairly well known fella behind it and I bet we could do something good.

BertrandRussell · 01/08/2019 15:10

If he didn’t lay the running track with his own hands he is an entitled wanker. Like my dad used to say about people who get OBEs- Other Bugger’s Efforts.

VeryQuaintIrene · 01/08/2019 15:15

Bin the Daily Mail today, good people. And not just because it's especially nasty about the Duchess of Sussex.

Sittingonthedock8 · 01/08/2019 15:25

The Mail is an awful rag and Piers seems to be totally obsessed by Meghan in a very weird and disturbing way.

However, I agree the piece in Vogue is pretentious and embarrassing. They need to get a new PR team quick smart and start trying to be a bit more aware of how they are coming across. Meghan hasn't cottoned on to the fact that being in the British RF is not like being a Hollywood star. She just doesn't understand the role and doesn't seem to want to either. This is why she gets all the flak she does. I'm sure she means well, but she isn't trying to understand where she's going wrong.

If she just did a few things differently it would begin to work in her favour. Promote British designers, watch some tennis players who aren't Serena Williams (because she's a pal and she's American). Stop courting publicity in the US , stop spending quite so ridiculously. Try not to come across like a precious princess who needs their privacy except when it suits them. Understand she is doing a job on behalf of the British people (supposedly), not married to a hedge fund manager.
Most of all get on with things quietly without making a big song and dance about it.

paffuto · 01/08/2019 15:41

Sitting, they have "advisors" so surely the question should be why are the advisors getting it wrong, not MM?

BertrandRussell · 01/08/2019 15:51

“She just doesn't understand the role and doesn't seem to want to either”

Did you not see her doing the “royal” thing all the time before she went off on maternity leave? All those openings and walkabouts and handshaking and sponsoring stuff....?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/08/2019 16:52

surely the question should be why are the advisors getting it wrong

Sorry, but that just doesn't wash - not with H&M or any of the blowhard family members. In the real world, those who choose to shout their mouths off really don't get to grab the credit for what goes right and instantly blame others for what doesn't

But then, the combination of the RF and the real world isn't always a happy one

BertrandRussell · 01/08/2019 16:57

I don’t think it would matter what advisors they had. Or want they did. The press has got it in for them so they could devote their lives to rescuing puppies from fires and they would still get bad press. There’s somebody on another thread dissing Harry’s involvement with the Invictus games ffs.

rosiejaune · 01/08/2019 16:58

It's also completely misleading/lies, since the blanket itself is not organic (though the company does sell organic items), and they refer to it as such multiple times.

Organic certification in the EU covers labour (not just inputs), so those practices would not be permitted to make e.g. a GOTS blanket.

GlitchStitch · 01/08/2019 17:15

Ah come on, Harry is apparently attending and has given a speech at the Google camp which is discussing climate change with 114 private jets in attendance to get guests there. They need to stop providing their critics with so many open goals.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 01/08/2019 17:54

This in a nutshell.

LaurieMarlow · 01/08/2019 18:02

I’ll add ‘watching Serena Williams play tennis’ to the long, long list of shit she does wrong.

What a total wagon. Why are we putting up with this crap? Confused

She does promote British designers. Specifically there were some small Scottish handbag brands recently that she gave a big boost to.

The rest of that post is just substance-less drivel.

BertrandRussell · 01/08/2019 18:03

Out of interest, why should she watch tennis players that aren’t Serena Williams?

BertrandRussell · 01/08/2019 18:06

“Most of all get on with things quietly without making a big song and dance about it*”

What-like all the royal duties she carried our til she went on maternity leave?

LaurieMarlow · 01/08/2019 18:07

I’ve never heard anyone criticise the tennis players Kate chooses to watch.

In fact I’ve never heard anyone criticise anyone for the tennis players they watch. Yet another surreal feature of this world where one woman can’t do a thing right in some people’s eyes.

It’s right up there with touching the bump for total ridiculousness.

WTAF?! 😂

gingerbreadsprinkle · 01/08/2019 18:15

Either we get rid of the monarchy completely or people need to let the hatred go. You're never going to be able to order these people around, and if you want to cut the purse strings then do it for all of them. Meghan hasn't done anything to receive such significant backlash when compared to other members of the family.

LaurieMarlow · 01/08/2019 18:18

Posters have repeatedly given their opinions on why H and M are now very unpopular

That’s true. And watching Selena Williams play tennis is a total dick move.

NoLeopard · 01/08/2019 18:18

Lol at 'nothing has been made up' Grin

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/08/2019 18:20

I hardly dared to mention the Google camp, GlitchStitch; yet another masterclass in sickening hypocrisy

Oh, and the palace have reportedly refused to say whether Harry travelled in a private aircraft ... so it's probably safe to take that as a "yes"
