This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

Davis Attenborough preaches- and his carbon footprint over the years must have been huge.

GlitchStitch · 04/08/2019 11:05

The message is undermined though from someone like Harry who isn't practicing what he preaches. Lots of people are already too blasé about climate change, a hypocrite lecturing them is hardly going to convert them is it? Cynics will say if it's as worrying as you say why are you using a private jet then. Or why has your own carbon footprint increased 98% in a year. His message is not going to penetrate to those it needs to.

Sittingonthedock8 · 04/08/2019 11:06

I think if anyone preaches or talks about issues , whoever is listening needs to feel that the person speaking has credentials which make them worth listening to. On the theme of mental health, we feel it is worth listening to Harry and William because of their history and their own battles. Harry is bravely talking about painful and personal experiences which have made him more aware and passionate about the themes he is talking about. Therefore we don’t feel preached at.
Kate talking about children and families... she feels passionate about the subject and has experience I suspect of feeling isolated as a young mother. Fair enough.

PC talking about his pet subjects.. he reads up , takes advice and takes action .

However when an American actress marries into the RF and immediately starts to post stuff on Instagram telling us how to live before she’s established any sort of real profile or gained any respect is pushing it. Particularly if she shows absolutely no sign she is walking the talk. For a start, maybe not take a private jet to a baby shower in another country, full of celebrities. Which sounds like it was mega wasteful in terms of ‘stuff’ brought in to make it look showy. Why should we listen to someone telling us what to do when there is no reason to respect her? She’s rich. She’s a Duchess. Apart from that she’s just like us, only much less environmentally friendly.

Raffles1981 · 04/08/2019 11:08

@Blingloving - the way Morgan laid into her on GMB once because she didn't contact him after one drink was so disgusting. It was a proper, shouting rant and I don't think anyone understood where he was coming from. Unnecessary and showed him up to be the pig he is.

BertrandRussell · 04/08/2019 11:14

Oh look- here comes the baby shower again! I wonder how many years that will run!

BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 04/08/2019 11:16

Come on Bertrand, you're one of the more consistently thoughtful posters on here. Can you really not see why being told "do what I say not what I do" by some of the wealthiest people on the planet who seem not to be making the slightest effort to mitigate their own environmental impact might rub people up the wrong way?

BertrandRussell · 04/08/2019 11:16

And before we run out of space- Meghan has actively supported charities that work with Grendel survivors, sex workers and disadvantaged women returning to work.

BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 04/08/2019 11:18

I think David Attenborough has done enough in his, what, sixty-five year career to establish his credentials as an environmentalist.

BertrandRussell · 04/08/2019 11:19

Grenfell- not Grendel. That will be, for, some posters, the typo of the year.

GlitchStitch · 04/08/2019 11:19

I think with Meghan the 'hitting the ground running' thing is an issue, maybe it was unavoidable because of the short relationship and quick marriage, but she hasn't established a 'rapport' or relationship with the public so it's like a total stranger coming along and telling you what's what. Kate has been around for years and had a lengthy 'build up' so she seems more known and familiar.

Meghan's previous publicist said that they talked about how she and Harry were going to 'change the world' and that appears to be what they want to do, create some kind of global brand. But that isn't how the Royal family operates, it's an institution not about individuals.

LaMarschallin · 04/08/2019 11:24

Grenfell- not Grendel. That will be, for, some posters, the typo of the year.

It's not bad. Maybe somebody's did set up a foundation for Beowulf and it never made it into the poem.

But I still prefer the one describing William and Harry as "prunes" rather than "princes" Smile

All what you've said probably explains very nicely the reason for her unpopularity. People are often demanded to explain the reasons why they don't like her and because they can't always put it into words as well as you have automatically get deemed racist. I think on the whole people are just aware of a general hypocrisy and double standards, which they are all guilty of but the difference being most of the others have learned not to spout off so much. But they'll carry on quaffing their champagne after Brexit no doubt whilst the rest of us can go to hell. Do they care about us, not a damned jot.

Oh dear, I appear to have touched a nerve. Do carry on!!!!!!!

The baby shower isn’t unrelated. She took a private jet thousands of miles needlessly. . Not environmentally friendly. The mistake many people make is to lump everyone who has issues with MM into one bracket. There are some loonies out there yes. There are some racists . However not everyone who has anything negative to say about her is in either of those camps. Some of us just don’t warm to her for whatever reason. Sometimes it’s a gut feeling. That’s perfectly fine.

separatelives · 04/08/2019 12:22

Totally agree sittingonthedock it's tiresome when people say people have an "agenda" for not liking her. Yeah some might have, but the majority don't. Who cares about things like her wearing jeans or the way she gets out of cars. Go to comments on the dailyfail for all that. You can't lump everyone together, convenient as it is. But people have a genuine feeling of dislike for the reasons said by that poster up above. We don't need to be told who we can't like thanks.

Sarcelle · 04/08/2019 12:24

If they really did say they wanted to change the world that is laughably arrogant. Two over privileged people who only have a platform due to birth and marriage who live in rarified circumstances. I would be more impressed if they gave up the privileges and used all their money to change lives where it is needed most, third world countries for instance. Not spend endless money on organic paint, Givenchy and polo ponies. They do a bit of charity work as a side hustle. Their primary trade is self-promotion and living in luxury.

Sittingonthedock8 · 04/08/2019 12:32

@sarcelle
Totally agree

LaMarschallin · 04/08/2019 12:36

Have we nearly got to the end of a MM thread without it being deleted?

BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 04/08/2019 12:38

Nor did David Attenborough spend £26,000 of taxpayers' money on a private jet to go on a Valentine's Day dinner with his wife.

separatelives · 04/08/2019 12:39

joyfullittlehippo
It just occurred to me....all those things that the "megziteers" go on about, daft as some of it is....how do you know they just don't believe everything they read
If the papers say it, it must be true. So blame the papers. Maybe it's just a bit of distraction for people's grim lives. I don't tend to worry much for the elite, they don't worry about us.

separatelives · 04/08/2019 12:42

Sarcelle Totally agree, it amazes me how anyone can think differently.

LaurieMarlow · 04/08/2019 12:43

Sure, but the rest of the royals pull this shit all the time.

So if you’re condemning all then fine.

If you’ve never complained until Meghan did it then you have to think about the agenda behind that.
