This is there top story. Meghan is using a cheap shawl & DM have found the factory it was made in.

She’s been criticised non stop for her spending, uses something cheap and the DM visit the sweatshop it was made in! I’m sorry but we are all guilty of this, very few people I’m sure track down where everything they buy is made and how much the staff are paid.

It’s just getting ridiculous how they’ll find literally anything to criticise.

If the DM want to expose sweat shops (something they care little about usually) they have the resources and man power to do so but they don’t give a shit they just want to go after Meghan.

Yes I saw that @TSSDNCOP but it was literally the first criticism I've seen of the garden idea.

I never saw anyone start a thread claiming Kate didn't know how ordinary people live etc at the time the garden was launched, but if it was Meghan I'm sure there would've been several!

SamanthaBrique · 31/07/2019 21:58

There's absolutely no point in talking about MM.

Well not if you repeat inaccurate shit and then get huffy when called out on it...

Lellikelly26 · 31/07/2019 22:26

It’s awful how the daily mail are going for Megan, such vile bullying. It’s quite shocking and even more shocking is the comments section, that’s a dark place

bluebell34567 · 31/07/2019 22:33

This:
I like queenie she supports things but keeps her mouth shut rather than telling us all how to live our life’s and preaching to the poor from a pedestal of wealth rubbing our noses in it.

Have you never listened to the Christmas message? Grin

Someone said they didn’t think Harry was a minor royal because he’s the future king’s son - I actually think of Prince Edward as a minor royal (as an example - and Prince Andrew and even dare I say it Princess Anne - let alone their current spouses) and they are the children of the current monarch!

I don’t like that Meghan held up someone like Laverne Cox as inspirational. I don’t like that Harry called his professional colleague a “paki” and thinks Mermaids is “amazing”.

I DO think Invictus is something that is totally incredible and inspirational - Harry has done amazing things with it and should be so proud. It is a pity Meghan decided she couldn’t make it to a medal ceremony due to being pregnant and tired (people with no limbs made it your Royal Highness) but she absolutely made it to the glamorous lunch 2 hours later. I thought she was rather hard done by til then.

It’s also a pity Edward Enninful repeated that she thought it was boastful to appear on the cover. He should never have said that. She spent years and years trying to get her face on screens and in magazines in the most narcissistic profession in the world. And if it’s good enough for Kate, Di, Anne etc, none of whom went “Vogue? No thanks to the shoot, I think I know enough about everything to guest edit. You haven’t offered it but I’m asking. And Laverne Cox is super.”

And if one of her celeb friends could have hosted the baby shower that would have laid her less open to criticism. She was never an A list celebrity. Maybe Kate had a baby shower? If she did, we didn’t see her doing it. We didn’t see the notified paparazzi who had so much notice and information as to where she was that there were barriers the hotel put up in advance of their exciting publicity. If we don’t know where Meghan and Harry honeymooned, perhaps she could have managed the same discretion for her party. She is meant to love privacy after all. She just didn’t want to - and that’s up to her - but it’s giving a vitriolic paper like the Mail a lot of ammunition.

Hithere12 · 31/07/2019 22:38

Well Meghan wasn't born into privilege and got her fortune on merit as well

Fortune? 😂 she was paid £250k a year for Suits max and rented a 3 bed house. She was not worth millions like Harry.

No need to be rude OP. I don’t have to agree with you, although I’m sure you’d prefer it if I did

What? 😕 I don’t care if you agree with me, why would I? 😕

i dont think Queen's Christmas speeches are to tell us what to do or not to do.

Hellywelly10 · 31/07/2019 22:49

Mm i think earning 250k a year is sucessful?

NoLeopard · 31/07/2019 22:57

She's worth c.£7 million apparently. That's well off to me.

NoLeopard · 31/07/2019 23:00

I thought someone said on this thread that Serena Williams hosted and paid for the baby shower? Not that I care but obviously a lot of you do.

LaurieMarlow · 31/07/2019 23:01

Serena did yes. Let’s add ‘accepting the generosity of friends’ to the long long list of Meghan’s sins.

Hithere12 · 31/07/2019 23:10

I’m not saying it’s not successful but I’m saying that’s the max she’d have earned but people are making out she was a multimillionaire when she met Harry.

OP posts:
NoLeopard · 31/07/2019 23:19

We're not 'making out'. Her net worth when she met Harry was a few million. And she earnt more than 250k pa for Suits. Such wrong basic stuff bandied about as usual.

LaMarschallin · 31/07/2019 23:23

I also find it a bit odd when people describe her as an A lister/movie actress.
To be fair, I don't have Netflix or Amazon or whatever, so don't know how big Suits was. I do know I'd never heard of MM pre-Harry.

£7 million is a lot - I'd love that! - but, in context, apparently Kym Marsh is worth £3 million.

She got some fame, fortune and influence on her own merits but, surely, massively more due to her marriage.

I'm not saying that's wrong, just that we probably shouldn't mix her up with Meryl Streep or Beyonce or somebody.

LaurieMarlow · 31/07/2019 23:27

I don’t think anyone describes her as a movie actress because she wasn’t. Confused

She was pretty successful though. Not a Hollywood A lister, but a platform that most in the industry would kill for.

I know many struggling actors. A main cast role in something like Suits would be a dream come true for any of them.

AquaPris · 31/07/2019 23:34

Newspapers have paywalls because they have to... pay their staff. The industry is dying because no one wants to pay for a service Hmm

Janista · 31/07/2019 23:34

Invictus wasn’t even Harry’s idea, he’s just a front man and convenient for PR. His “work” on it is mostly done by others. He just turns up for the photos and to get the kudos.

LaMarschallin · 31/07/2019 23:36

I don’t think anyone describes her as a movie actress because she wasn’t.

Fair enough. I thought somebody had, upthread, but it's too long to go back and check.
My mistake, then.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 31/07/2019 23:38

I had never heard of her until she popped up as Harry’s girlfriend so calling her a A list celebrity is pushing it a bit.

I am not sure if I feel sorry for her or not. Either she is badly advised or she is too bull headed to listen when told to reign it in a bit.
I did read about the vogue cover and was quite disappointed that the women she choose. Not really women I would pick as my top 16 to inspire the next generation of young women. No Mary McAleese or Christine legarde but a bunch of clothes horses for the media.

Janista · 31/07/2019 23:44

And woke politicians like Jacinda Ardern and Greta Thunberg both of whom are pushing a very specific political agenda.

This actually turns a lot of people off.

LaurieMarlow · 31/07/2019 23:47

And woke politicians like Jacinda Ardern and Greta Thunberg both of whom are pushing a very specific political agenda

Yeah cause they’re both self interested dicks Hmm

Sarcelle · 31/07/2019 23:52

I think Meghan and Harry's heart are in the right place but they live lives so far removed from most people they are coming across badly. The M & S charity thing announced today involving the charity that provides women with clothes for interviews - good idea, but Meghan goes to visit them in togs worth £5k upwards (and has spent £800k + on clothes last year). It is an odd thing to do.

Writing you are loved on bananas intended for sex workers, sweet but pointless. Telling us they are concerned about environmental issues and they (and other members of the royal family) are taking helicopters like we would take the tube. Meghan flying back from her ridiculously lavish baby shower in a private jet. Harry warning us about social media but they are promoting themselves on Instagram. The highly stylised Black and White moody shots. It's all very hypocritical. They seem to want to set up an alternative court. King and Queen with Clooney and Amal, Serena and Oprah.

She has her platform because she married a royal. The royals have their platform because of an accident of birth. And yet we are suppose to hang off their every word without criticising some quite awful crass behaviour. I have no doubt that some people are jumping on her because of racist attitudes, but she is playing into their hands.

God if I were her I would plant a few trees, cut a ribbon or two, crack a magnum of champagne on the latest P & O liner. Enjoy her privilege. Not try and be a world figure. It all looks a bit measured and calculated.
