I would really like to hear the views of Boris supporters. I fully understand the anti-Boris arguments.

I think it’s because he’s racist and homophobic as are a lot of the population, so people are glad that they can stop censoring their fascism finally. I’m not being tongue in cheek, I mean it.

LaurieMarlow · 25/07/2019 17:52

How’s he going to sort the NI border? Any ideas?

Tellmetruth4 · 25/07/2019 17:53

He’s a necessary evil. He is the only one who can kill off the cancer that is Farage. He’s brought in Cummings to shaft the ERG. We will end up with a soft Brexit. He will then hold a post Brexit reshuffle to make it more One Nation Tory.

He may resign as leader not long after, following a GE. He’s not interested in being leader for the longterm. He sees himself as a wartime leader like Churchill and Brexit is his war.

In regards to why people support him, what I don’t understand is why those who wouldn’t vote for Corbyn due to antisemitism would support Boris who’s made racist comments? How do they square that circle?

Halloumimuffin · 25/07/2019 17:59

I have some personal connections to him via some friends of mine. From what I've heard, anyone saying he's secretly some Machiavellian intelligence is dead wrong, he's closer to every mediocre male who has ever blustered his way through a business meeting despite knowing absolutely nothing. But that sort of person gets far in this world.

Knittedjimmychoos · 25/07/2019 18:00

Tell me truth, good summation there.
Agree he's only in it for the brexit war.
He has short bursts of energy and standing for hours in commons going over sometimes very boring issues isn't for him.

Cinammoncake · 25/07/2019 18:11

Sadly I think you may have a point there AmateurSwami Sad

scaryteacher · 25/07/2019 18:14

It's a bit much to accuse people of being fascist when they are, for whatever reason, against homosexuality AmateurSwami

As for racist - he has one of the most ethnically diverse cabinets ever.

Knittedjimmychoos · 25/07/2019 18:18

Agree scary.
People expressing homophibic views makes me feel deeply uncomfortable but it doesn't automatically make them facists.

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 18:31

Completely agree with your post truth

Cyclemad222 · 25/07/2019 18:37

Brexit is undeliverable. He's climbed onto the buckaroo with all the other right wing dreadfuls and I can't wait to watch them tumble off as it turns to shit.

Figmentofmyimagination · 25/07/2019 18:47

If you think this is bad, wait til they come for John bercow (a new ‘bullying’ investigation is already underway). Then we will know democracy really is dead.

We've had years of boring - the one thing we can say is BJ as PM will not be boring

You’ll get your bread and circuses then.

scaryteacher · 25/07/2019 19:30

The last Black Rod who was a senior Army Officer, and thus had seen plenty in his time, said that Bercow was a bully. Just because Bercow is speaker doesn't give him carte blanche to make lesser mortals lives a misery.

screentime · 25/07/2019 19:32

“He will get a deal”

Really? If it was so easy, why did he resign and flounce off when he himself was part of the negotiations? What’s going to happen in the next few weeks that couldn’t have happened in the last few years?

The man is deluded.

He won’t be able to just close Parliament to push through “no deal” (imagine)! There was a vote which prevents this being an option just the other week, wasn’t there?

He will end up with “no deal.” Parliament will block it and then there will probably be a general election and god knows after that.

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 19:33

The eu wont want no deal. It will hurt them at least as much as it will hurt us.

screentime · 25/07/2019 19:37

I agree nobody wants no deal. But I can’t see how he’s going to get anything different to what TM managed and that ain’t get through. It’s all very well criticising her, but BJ and DR were central to those negotiations so they’ve already failed. The arrogance is astonishing.

screentime · 25/07/2019 19:38

Won’t not ain’t.

longwayoff · 25/07/2019 19:44

@fibbke.
1 minus 26 = minus 26
27 minus 1 = 26
Hope that's clear as to who would be hurting most.

Thorilicious · 25/07/2019 19:45

A friend of mine has said he's happy with Boris because he makes him laugh. They don't seem to realise that this is people's livelihoods at stake, but oh well, as long as he's funny....

LaurieMarlow · 25/07/2019 19:48

iIt will hurt them at least as much as it will hurt us.

This really is fucking stupid.

They don’t want no deal. It will hurt them. But the impact on them will be tiny in relation to the impact on us.

SalrycLuxx · 25/07/2019 19:50

Because in this day and age, given what is happening, we need a showman. Boris is capable of carrying people with him. I might hate the whole concept of Brexit, but if we are going to leave and rip up the existing rules and reality, we need someone who has a vision and simply ignores naysayers and drives it through.

Admittedly, it could all end in disaster.

MyFokMarelize · 25/07/2019 19:54

@oblomov19 - he's bloody brilliant isn't he? Best one ever was the Tory leadership race one - did you see that? "Who the fuck is Mark Harper"? Grin Grin

Echobelly · 25/07/2019 19:59

Not a Boris supporter (the man's a pathological liar and egotist) but I'd guess some of his fans will say he at least has energy and drive (though a dead haddock would compared to May)... but most of his energy and drive is about promoting Brand Boris.

Clearly he did the smart thing stepping out of the running for leadership in the last round.
