I would really like to hear the views of Boris supporters. I fully understand the anti-Boris arguments.

He's a disruptor, and as Parliament has seemingly reached a stalemate over Brexit he is the most likely person to able to break through that and let us all get on with life.

Dapplegrey · 25/07/2019 14:02

I can’t understand anyone wanting to go into politics these days. All politicians are subject to vicious personal attacks online and on msm and apart from anything else it must be horrible for their families - someone even had a go at Jacob Rees Mogg’s children which was a vile thing to do.

NoBaggyPants · 25/07/2019 14:08

the frothing lefties will poo-poo it,

This isn't a leftie thing though is it, there are countless MPs in his own party that think he is a dangerous man.

TheBigBallOfOil · 25/07/2019 14:11

They’re doing the blind monkeys act tho aren’t they right now.
The last two elections have made them proper scared. Glad at least to see the Tory instinct for survival hasn’t completely disappeared. I’d have preferred a fresh face with less toxic baggage tho.
On the upside I suppose he’s an open book. We already know all the bad stuff there is to know. Although ...

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 14:11

He's only dangerous if you don't agree having the threat of a hard brexit is necessary. He's not actually dangerous Confused

tomtom1999xx · 25/07/2019 14:17

I’m not a fan of Boris, but I did vote to leave the EU so I’m happy he’s our new PM as I’m confident now that we will actually leave.
I was never sure with TM as our leader. ( her being a remainer & all )

Nesssie · 25/07/2019 14:26

Exactly tomtom TM didn't really stand a chance as she was negotiating for something she didn't believe in. Not her fault. Davey C called for the election and then left her to deal with the fall out.

At least now we have a PM who believes in what he is fighting for.

He's not actually dangerous
Well, not unless you are a journalist he is conspiring to have beaten up, or his partner...
Or anyone who may be at risk when the Good Friday Agreement falls (hint: that’s anyone living in the UK).

crispysausagerolls · 25/07/2019 14:39

It’s awful how aggressive people get over a difference on opinion. There Is no actual right or wrong but already, 2 pages in, people are hurling swear words and insults about someone else’s opinion. 🙄

cardibach · 25/07/2019 14:42

He might not reel off a load of carefully researched woke soundbites, no
Not asking him to, Fibbke. Just asking him to be vaguely coherent. He can’t complete a sentence with any clarity, not even when it’s just about his alleged bus building hobby.

cardibach · 25/07/2019 14:42

crispy it’s not just about opinions though, is it? It’s about everyone’s life and future.

Nesssie · 25/07/2019 14:44

@crispysausagerolls and unfortunately that is why all posts about politics at the moment are goady and turn into a shit show. I dared post on a brexit thread and had someone wishing death on me and my children (not that I have any). Up to that point it was a fairly reasonable debate but then it turned into a free for all.

MyFokMarelize · 25/07/2019 14:44

Grin Grin

Well yes - in as much as it's got him where he is to say it! He was very pro-EU up to and nearly including the referendum when he saw a chance and shamelessly changed his position to lever himself into No 10.
As reprehensible as the likes of Rees-Mogg are at least they've been consistent. Johnson is an opportunist and it's paid off for him. For now.

Nesssie · 25/07/2019 14:45

@cardibach And your opinion is that he will be bad for the future. Not everybody thinks that.

crispysausagerolls · 25/07/2019 14:48

crispy it’s not just about opinions though, is it? It’s about everyone’s life and future

But everyone’s opinion on how that should be is different...

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/07/2019 14:55

But he doesn’t. And he doesn’t care. It’s all about willy wangling and saving face.

Sadly, I do believe this. I have had some fucking awful things said to me. Much of it has been deleted, but it was still said.

The majority of people who are left-leaning, (in real life AND on here,) are fine, rational, decent people. But the frothy, ranty far-left are in a league of their own. They are totally batshit, and very nasty and vitriolic. There are LOADS of them on twitter too.

Unfortunately there are a small handful on this website. I won't engage with them. I will put my opinions and views on any given thread, but I won't engage with them, or answer any of their 'questions.'

InTheHeatofLisbon · 25/07/2019 15:42

And if anyone who is OK with Boris has any sense

I'm afraid the two concepts are mutually exclusive. You cannot be ok with Boris and have sense.

Over inflated self importance and a loathing of social justice, decency and truth. But no sense.

TheBigBallOfOil · 25/07/2019 15:44

If you believe Boris believes in Brexit you are too naive to be let out of the house.

IAskTooManyQuestions · 25/07/2019 15:45

Boris supporters AIBU to ask why you think he should be PM?

I'm not a supporter, so I'm going to alter your question slightly - why do you think he should be PM? and I think he should be PM, quite simply, because he is elected in accordance with the laws, regulations of his own party and that laid out in parliament.

Spare me the unelected rhetoric - of the (now) 33 PMs since 1916, 16 of those have come to office by other means than a general election.

MyFokMarelize · 25/07/2019 15:48

If you believe Boris believes in Brexit you are too naive to be let out of the house

100% this!

longwayoff · 25/07/2019 16:05

@user1491678180, looking through this thread it's only you that has been unnecessarily insulting about other posters. Maybe it's the heat.

TheSultanofPingu · 25/07/2019 16:05

Boris Johnson began pretending he believes in Brexit in order to bag himself the top job.

screentime · 25/07/2019 16:08

When he fails to negotiate a “new deal,” I think it could possibly go down as one of the most epic political fails of all time.

I feel like I’m watching a slow car crash.

What does he think will happen when Parliament blocks “no deal?” Because Parliament will.

He may well be one of the shortest-lived pms in history. Let’s hope so....
