I’m blinded by a million prams/pushchairs/strollers/travel systems and have no idea what to go for.
I’m keen to have something for a newborn that can convert easily, isn’t too much of a pain to put up and down... and aside from that I’m
Blank!
What did you pick, what made you choose it and would you go for it if you had the choice again?

Silver cross wave. Liked it for its large basket, ability to convert to a tandem in case DD was still in it when we had dc3, large wheels and front swivel wheels for offroading, suspension, 25kg weight limit (large baby was suspected) large bassinet (again, large baby was suspected), air vents in bassinet and hood (summer baby), bassinet suitable for overnight sleep and large coverage by the hood.

I got the Joie chrome DLX from mothercare (full travel system for £330 down from £530) and like it. Not love.
It’s good for what it is, and the car seat is one of the safer options from what I could see on Which, but a part of me wishes I’d had the free cash to go for a bugaboo if some kind. If money has been no object, it would have been the Babyzen Yoyo 😍
Do you have a shortlist?

RockyRolly · 24/07/2019 19:22

Uppababy vista because its flipping amazing and I can fit a weeks shopping and the change bag underneath.

Then I got a silver cross buggy when she got a bit older.

CrackOn · 24/07/2019 19:22

Oh, I also think it looks beautiful. I would definitely get it again.

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 24/07/2019 19:25

I had an iCandy Peach for DD. Not sure why I chose it, just liked the look of it I suppose 😬

We still have it and plan on using it for future children, but I probably wouldn’t buy it again given the chance. I do really like it but it’s heavy and doesn’t fold down in one piece which irritates me. I ended up buying a Babyzen Yo-yo and instead use that for when I’m out and about (when DD will actually sit in a pushchair, that is). It’s so lightweight and compact.

Smilingthru · 24/07/2019 19:25

ICandy Peach. Easy to put together and handy straps on wheels when collapsed so can throw them over my shoulder. Comfy for baby and bassinet could be used as a travel one if we went away in early days. Good for town and countryside walks. Basket is huge! DC2 is currently in it as condition was so good from DC1 we’ve just reused it. DC1 fits in the basket under the seat when she’s tired! 🙈😂 We have a Cybex seat and adapters to go with it. Whole set cost £1100 4yrs ago but worth every penny! 😊

Tallgreenbottle · 24/07/2019 19:26

Out n About nipper 360. Anything else is pretty useless in comparison.

Xyzzzzz · 24/07/2019 19:27

Flip x2 from mamas and papas. On sale from £1400 to £790. Full travel set 8 piece.

PrayingandHoping · 24/07/2019 19:29

Mountain buggy urban jungle

I need something that is built for country living, it is v easy to fold up and down and also manoeuvre one handed. My brother had one and it lasted him all 3 children and he also lives in sticks.

When I finally found a shop the stocks it the man said he had no idea why they weren't more popular as they are a great buggy for the job I want and not nearly as expensive as some of the in fashion brands that haven't been around as long!

Sianlouise432 · 24/07/2019 19:29

Mamas n papas ocarro 😊 loved it in store but over £800... Well prayers were answered when u found it in mothercare closing down sale for £560. It folds up so nicely, looks great and will last years.

JazzyGG · 24/07/2019 19:31

Britax B Smart 3. Absolutely amazing. You don't need any adaptors for car seat as it's a click and go system plus it's hard wheels so will never go flat. Robust and sturdy and hanging in my garage as an insurance policy in case I ever have another!

frazzledasarock · 24/07/2019 19:31

Silver cross reflex with baby pack so it changes from pram to pushchair. I got it because I used public transport a lot and it’s compact and light. Love it.

I’d choose it again altho it looks like silvercross have phased out the baby pram attachment bits.

All my friends who bought beautiful expensive prams have all discarded them in favour of umbrella fold strollers. I didn’t have to as mine was already a stroller.

Mummyshark2019 · 24/07/2019 19:31

Bugaboo Chameleon. Wouldn't recommend it. A bugger to convert. Or maybe it was just me haha.

moobar · 24/07/2019 19:32

I went for out and about but I didn't like the pram base sitting into the pushchair, no car seat option. I also didn't like no parent facing. So I went for maxi cosi nova travel system. Puts itself up and down. However, basket underneath is small and the wheels are heavy.
Does have pram base, car seat, parent and forward facing pushchair. Would buy again.

moobar · 24/07/2019 19:32

Sorry should say went to purchase out and about and changed mind in shop to maxi cosi.

fitzbilly · 24/07/2019 19:35

I use a sling the first six months with my children, then an out n about sport running buggy so I can go running.

Also have an out n about nipper double for everyday use with a baby and toddler ( and also works fine as a double running buggy)

HJWT · 24/07/2019 19:35

Bugaboo Fox! I tried my nephew (2.5 years) in every pram in mothercare, M&P Ocarro, Silvercross Wave, iCandy Peach, Oyster 3 and a few others! The Bugaboo Fox seemed to have the most head room whilst still having a wide seat.

I didn't want another pram that I would have to get rid of after a year due to having tall DC (we had iCandy peach with DD)

RhodaDendron · 24/07/2019 19:37

I got a Bugaboo Bee because:
We didn’t have a car and it was compact for public transport;
We live in a flat with steps and it’s one of the lighter ones;
I went into a cafe near my house and counted five others so figured it must be a good one.

It’s been great. I would give about where you live - city v rural - whether or not you have a car - how much you’ll have to lift it around.
Lots of friends say they didn’t use their pram/buggy for first six months as they travelled with car and sling. Others couldn’t have lived without a pram like a small tractor.

Havana7 · 24/07/2019 19:38

I got the Joolz Day. Comfy, easy to put up and down, good wheels and easy to manoeuvre. It also has a really snug foot muff for winter

Sceptre86 · 24/07/2019 19:44

Silver cross wayfarer initially with dd. Looked great, decent sized basket, fit into boot and chassis not too heavy as I use the bus a lot so would need to be able to fold it. When we found out I was expecting ds we got the silver cross wave. It is beautiful, can use in tandem has a big basket. Only negative is that the chassis is heavy. I didn't use the wave until dd was 6 months as we used a sling, when ds came along he was in the wave from newborn.

mommybear1 · 24/07/2019 19:44

I sooooooooo wanted an iCandy 😔 however we were mid house renovation and my DH baulked at over 1k for a Pram regardless of its fab u lous ness 😂. We went to John Lewis to see what would fit in the boot and went with an Uppababy Vista I went online to get the best price - it's surpassed all my expectations- basket is huge, great for a tall baby/toddler, turning space is great - I love it 😍 still secretly wish for an iCandy but appreciate what we have is amazing.

Darkstar4855 · 24/07/2019 19:47

Bought a cheap second hand Graco but only used it about three times in the end as I much preferred the sling. Bought a Babyzen Yoyo+ at six months as it’s really easy to travel with.

AliTheMinx · 24/07/2019 19:47

I got a Mamas and Papas travel system. It was ace! It was black with small cream spots - I'm very partial to a polkadot and it looked stylish, as well as being practical. It held its value well and I sold it with no problem.

Morticiaismystyleicon · 24/07/2019 19:49

I had the Britax B-Smart 3 too for when dd was born- the carrycot, car seat and seat. I spent a lot of time going out to places in the car with her and it was so, so easy to just lift the seat off and put it in the car and also put the carrycot on the back seat for if we were out for a while. We do a fair bit of walking too and it was ok but by the time she was 9 mths or so it was just too heavy and bulky as we live in a very hilly area so I got a Bugaboo Bee 2nd hand. It also coincided with me getting rid of my car so we got a Joie Scenic for the other car which I used for a fair bit out and about too but I didn't like that you can't hang shopping etc on hooks on the side, it's too low. I used it a LOT once she was reliably walking, from 2-3 when we'd get the tube to museums and stuff- I could get her out, fold it and wheel behind and it was so light I could hold it and her on escalators and going up and down stairs. The Bee I used for day to day walking about and it was amazing.
For DS 3 years later I left the Britax frame and a sling in the car, used the carrycot for 6 weeks or so then bought a Cocoon for the Bugaboo and used that until he was old enough to just use the seat. It was winter though. My Bee just gave up the ghost and I'm heartbroken but I've now got a Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle which is very good for all the walking and dog walking we do- wouldn't take it on public transport or in the car though- it's huge!
I'm sorry for the length of this post and the rambling Blush

zebrapig · 24/07/2019 19:50

Silver Cross Pioneer. We wanted something that could be used for overnight sleeping so reduced options somewhat. The adjustable handle and massive basket were a big plus too. I've had it 4 years - it's done both DC and I still like it. I'll be sad when it's time to get rid!
