AIBU to be nosy and ask what pram you got and why?

I’m blinded by a million prams/pushchairs/strollers/travel systems and have no idea what to go for.
I’m keen to have something for a newborn that can convert easily, isn’t too much of a pain to put up and down... and aside from that I’m
Blank!
What did you pick, what made you choose it and would you go for it if you had the choice again?

Went for a Silvercoss wayfarer )travel system), primarily because it was one of only two after thorough research that had an extendable handle high enough to be comfortable for me (am fairly tall I guess "above average")

Preferred the design, sturdiness and neutral colour options as we decided not to find out boy or girl until baby arrived.
Best purchase by far we made 👌🏻

Bugaboo bee - easy to manoeuvre, pod for newborn, can have adaptors to sit the car seat on, front and back facing, also had changeable hood so could get a uv hood in the summer, collapses as one piece - the 2 piece (or even 3 piece with a carrycot) are a fucking menace storage wise and also when out and about.

What I have is a bloody pram obsession!
I currently have an iCandy Peach 2018 which we use for my 8 day old DS and 2 year old DD. I chose it because it was one of the only tandem to single prams that would fit my gigantic toddler in! Its gorgeous and in single mode is a dream to push. In double... it's a bit shite BUT I've only used it for 5 days and on a street with an adverse camber so I need to play with the set up a bit more I think. Right now, wouldn't buy again.

We also have a Bugaboo Donkey which lives in DHs car. I bought it for DD and I love everything about it, big baskets, comfy ride, looks smart, smoothest push on a pram EVER....but it doesn't fit down the drive in double mode! I went to sell it but the market is awful for selling atm and couldn't stomach losing a loved pram for pennies so kept it for when DH takes them out. Would buy a million times over (and the Bugaboo Buffalo!)

Finally we have a Bugaboo Bee5. Bought for DD as a car pram because it's so quick and easy to fold/unfold, big seat and cute style. She still uses it for nursery runs and I managed to buy a bassinet cheaply to switch out when DS uses it. Might get a buggy board for DD when she finally learns not to try to play with traffic Hmm would buy again, but is NOT a pram for anything other than smooth streets.

I got an uppa baby vista because I saw that Tyrion from GOT and his wife had one. I'm pathetic. It was great. I then got a bugaboo bee 3 when LO was 8 month. Both great pushchairs.

Celebelly · 26/07/2019 11:59

Yes, babyjogger can be used from birth without carrycot as it reclines flat, however I bought car seat adaptors and a lie flat car seat and still using that five months on as it's really handy. Seat just clips in and out and makes getting her from car into pram easy.

Has anyone on here looked at / considered the Ickle Bubba (horrible brand name) stomp V3 or V4? Would be interested to know if anyone has :)

avocadotofu · 27/07/2019 13:56

Bugaboo bee5 because we live in London and we wanted something that we could easy take on public transport.

Seasprayandsunshine · 27/07/2019 16:07

@forevercurious
I've been looking at that pram, I really like the look of it but it has concerned me it hasn't been mentioned here once.

forevercurious · 27/07/2019 16:29

@Seasprayandsunshine it looks lovely doesn’t it! And a good price for the whole travel system as I cannot justify over £1000 on a pram. I also asked on the pram board on here and got no replies which is a little concerning but maybe it isn’t a well known brand? I’d like to see / test one out but can’t seem to find a shop where they are stocked, only online which is a pain.

RainbowMum11 · 27/07/2019 16:43

Uppababy Vista - amazing pram, dead light to push but great out walking too, big shopping basket and comes with everything you could need.

fiorentina · 27/07/2019 17:04

Bugaboo chameleon - at the time v few parent facing options. Reasonably ok for pavement and off road walks. Folded up easily into boot of car. Buggy board with seat for DC1. Would recommend.

Rarfy · 27/07/2019 18:42

Just wanted to add I have seen the ickle bubba stomp on display and thought it looked great! Didn't test it out just a quick look.

kidsmakesomuchwashing · 27/07/2019 18:44

Uppababy vista - massive basket, sits really high, big wheels for country side walks.

SlackerMum1 · 27/07/2019 19:03

Silvercross pioneer. Handle could come up really high (v tall family), massive basket and generally spacious, comfortable and super manoeuvrable. It’s heavy but I found it a great city buggy as it was v robust, all terrain and could carry a week’s worth of shopping! I’m central London so never really needed to fold it and rarely get it in the car.

MummaGiles · 27/07/2019 19:09

Silver cross wayfarer. Handles really well. Folds easily. Really durable. Looks good. Big basket. Used it at least 5 days a week until DS was 3.5, and he is tall so the seat is big enough.

Have brought it out again to use with baby no2, over four years later.

PlansNotDreams · 27/07/2019 19:26

We have the Uppababy Cruz.

Fits well in my boot, really nice to push and my tall 2 year old still is comfortable in it!

forevercurious · 28/07/2019 14:55

@Rarfy can I please ask where you saw on it display?

JM842 · 20/06/2020 08:46

Hi I have just got the uppa baby vista (2019). I really like the idea of the stand for the carrycot for day sleeping downstairs but not the price tag. Does any one have any cheaper alternatives?

Skigal86 · 20/06/2020 08:58

Nuna Mixx, they’re not a particularly well known brand but they are made by Joie. I had my heart set on a silver cross wayfairer but the sales people in mothercare convinced us that the Nuna was better, it was a lot cheaper, foam tyres rather than air and slightly lighter but had a similar style to the silver cross. It developed a fault which was minor but difficult to fix so they sent us a whole new pushchair (albeit in the new colour scheme not the one we’d chosen, but I barely remember the old one now!). We also bought a second hand icandy all terrain for running and off road walks, and in hindsight I’d consider the new version of that if I was buying the first one again although they are quite heavy and £££

Skigal86 · 20/06/2020 08:59

Forgot the main thing I like about the Nuna! The basket is zipped so it feels secure for chucking purse and phone in!

HowLongCanICallitBabyWeight · 20/06/2020 09:01

Cosatto wow, like the design, well made, 4 year warranty, included a carry cot and fit in the boot of my then car (Suzuki swift). We haven't felt the need to buy anything else, lots of people I know give up on the big silvercross, bugaboos etc quite quickly and get something smaller

HowLongCanICallitBabyWeight · 20/06/2020 09:02

Oh it has a big basket too

Camomila · 20/06/2020 09:30

armadillo flip as it came with a proper carrycot and could fit in the boot of a nissan micra. Still using it for DS2. (when the brake broke when DS1 was 2ish they replaced them for free)

1stTimeMama · 20/06/2020 09:51

A Bugaboo Donkey. We had 2 babies 15m apart so I wanted a double, parent facing, and the fact it converted to a single is genius. It has a large basket underneath, and an extra one between or to the side of the seats. It fold easily, and small, is a good size double but still fits through doors, and although expensive, we're about to use it on our new baby which will be the 4th baby to use it. Amd they generally have good resale value. I had a Chicco and an Oyster with my first, and wish I'd just gone straight for the Donkey!
