AIBU to be nosy and ask what pram you got and why?

I’m blinded by a million prams/pushchairs/strollers/travel systems and have no idea what to go for.
I’m keen to have something for a newborn that can convert easily, isn’t too much of a pain to put up and down... and aside from that I’m
Blank!
What did you pick, what made you choose it and would you go for it if you had the choice again?

Cosatto because I love the quirky designs

MissMooMoo · 25/07/2019 11:10

It really depends on where you live and type of lifestyle you have.
We live in London and don't have a car so use public transport every day.
We have a babyzen yoyo.

Really lightweight, easy to fold and store and it is hand luggage sized so ideal for taking on holiday and being able to use straight off the airplane.

Minai · 25/07/2019 11:12

With ds1 I got a cosatto giggle pram. Mothercare had a great deal on the travel system so we got it. I loved it, it was light, easy to steer and ds1 was always very happy in there.

I then got a double as ds2 is only 18 months younger than ds1. I got an oyster max and hated it. Heavy, hard to steer, near impossible to get on a bus.

Now have a joie aire twin and love itz

We live in a city but do go around parks and I walk a lot. The parks generally have decent pavements though so I don’t think it would be too much of a problem.
I’m leaning towards a city mini but also like the look of the uppababy vista so think I will need to go and try some out... and then probably decide on something completely different!

@HermioneKipper buy another babyzen yoyo, and buy buggy adapters on amzon. They clip your buggies together so you have a "double".

AgnesNaismith · 25/07/2019 16:07

Stokke (as we’re tall) and the car seat to go with it, which was the heaviest most cumbersome seat and caused me a shoulder injury! The prom was ok, some useful qualities but we sold it after a year or so and bought a babyjogger - I think GT? It was fantastic, really sturdy and also easy to use, could turn with one hand, lie flat and gave dd so much room!

If I were to have another I would go for the babyjogger from the start.

Bellasblankexpression · 25/07/2019 16:40

So is baby jogger suitable from birth without the carry cot?
The uppababy vista looks great but the price difference between that and the baby jogger is quite wide...

Hauck Condor travel system, back in 2011, purely because we were skint and it was a factory seconds on Tir Prince Market in north Wales. It cost £80 and lasted us about 4 years! 4 years of constant daily use, my mum nearly wore the wheels of it Grin

Andonandonan · 25/07/2019 16:59

Uppababy vista because it had great reviews and did everything we wanted. I loved the carrycot & that it was suitable for overnight sleeping, the uv extension bit in the hood was fab and the basket knocked anything else out of the park. Never felt the need for a different pushchair so it lasted 2 dc & 4ish years before we passed it on, it’s still being used now & dc1 is 7.

Would definitely buy again!

Andonandonan · 25/07/2019 17:02

Ooh I remembered more. With 2dc under 2 it was fab to be able to swap between carrycot & toddler seat so easily. My 2 best friends who both had bugaboos originally ended up getting vistas as they were so envious of mine!

WatchingTheWheels85 · 25/07/2019 17:05

For my youngest I had an inglesina classica (completely impractical) and a limited edition yellow submarine mclaren Grin

Fuzzyspringroll · 25/07/2019 17:07

We have a Jane Trider. Got it because of the lie-flat car seat and the puncture-proof tyres. We lived by the beach when DS was born. I really like it but the wheels sometimes block, which is a pain.
We've also got a second-hand Phil and Teds Sport, which we used for holiday and then at home as well. It's been great but the tyres puncture and it's annoying that you can't put the seat into the washing machine.

Morticiaismystyleicon · 25/07/2019 22:42

Quick tip OP- if you haven't moved by the time you have the baby buy a pram organiser thing that sits on the handles. You'll probably get one for dr

Morticiaismystyleicon · 25/07/2019 22:46

Sorry- for drinks etc anyway but get one with a zip in compartment and leave a spare key/s for the house in. Put your 'normal' house keys in it or wherever but if you rush up with the attachable bit whether carseat or carrycot and go back down and forget to latch the door or take your keys you're sorted Smile

Maybelle15 · 25/07/2019 22:51

Stokke crusi

Tartsamazeballs · 25/07/2019 23:00

My list of buggies:

Icandy peach all terrain. Expensive, shiny, pretty, big, heavy, cumbersome, crap for folding/public transport.

Cosatto umbrella- ok, nothing special.

Babyzen yoyo- absolutely brilliant, lives in my car and done miles round London, New York, theme parks, shopping centres, zoos, museums... Honestly it's wonderful. We have the bag and buggy board for it. One handed push.

Out N about 360 nipper - my other buggy. Fabulous for off road adventures and muddy dog walks but actually pretty decent for shops etc. Really light to push, fantastic for beaches too.

Terrifiedandregretful · 25/07/2019 23:05

Baby jogger city mini. Yes I would choose it again. Best buggy ever. One handed folding is a dream. I got an attack of smug every time I folded it. Suitable from birth. Also long wheel base made it really easy to get on and off trains which I do a lot. So many friends seemed to buy multiple buggies, different ones as they got older or a lightweight one for holidays etc. I only needed one from birth to 4 - and it cost me £104 from eBay. (I would also highly recommend Manduca baby carrier - these were the two best things I bought - also lasted from birth to 4)

NCforthis2019 · 25/07/2019 23:12

Which Best Buy always - uppababy vista.

NCforthis2019 · 25/07/2019 23:13

^^ and I’ve only ever had the one pram. Doubled as a cot too.

CrispSandwiches19 · 25/07/2019 23:18

Silver cross pioneer. Big wheels at back. Big basket. Perfect for, city, parks and woodland walks.
Have always had silver Cross and mamas and papas.
It's been fab. Washes down lovely. Is still immaculate and using for. Dc2.

Have the silver Cross pop too but not keen on the buckle clip so have only uses 4 times in a year.. But the GPS use it for her.

Want a maclaren techno xt as want to pack the pioneer away for babys arrival so it stays in good condition

gonewiththepotter · 25/07/2019 23:21

My DN had a Mothercare journey - very reasonable at £299 and VERY practical! Folds up very small/ light too!

Jills23 · 25/07/2019 23:45

I bought the maxi cosi lila, suitable buggy seating for newborn, has an extra insert extremely cosi, can be a double if needed , one handed easy fold, removal basket which is fab when doing a shop. Has an inbuilt uv protector/insect net, light weight and fits into my seat ibiza boot no bother. Absolutely love it and wasnt that expensive. I borrowed a maxi car seat to use on occassions but to be honest I'm transferring the baby from the car seat directly into buggy as she loves it and sleeps really well in the cosi insert. It came with rain gear and adapters. Check out a video of on you tube to see if it would suit your needs.

Wanted a bugaboo buffalo and was on our way to buy it but walked through a local independent car seat specialist. They had the jane matrix 2 lay flat car seat which was amazing. At that time I wanted a travel system so we got the jane trader. It’s been great and still going as my lo turns 3. However it’s heavy and the basket is small. We have added storage but can’t do anything about the weight. Suspension and wheels are great as is the adjustable handle.

I also have a babyzen yo-yo+ which is amazing. To be honest I wish I had it from the beginning, it’s lightweight and very easy trip travel with but also robust. I don’t like the small basket (although we also add storage) and it doesn’t sit upright like other pushchairs, but it’s serving my tall lo well and goes in the cabin when we fly.

Finally we were gifted an out and about running buggy, which has been amazing for festivals!!

Newyearnewunicorn · 26/07/2019 00:01

I’ve got the traditional silver cross pram, 2nd hand great pram used every day until he decided to climb out of it and reins didn’t stop him!
Silver cross pop great for shopping gps use this one and they kindly bought it
Silver cross sleepover again second hand great off roading pushchair
Silver cross freeway Linear A bit big for round small shops but very easy to push great seat for ds to sit and play/eat in. I could have managed without this one but I love it.

Mouikey · 26/07/2019 00:01

Oh and an Ergobaby adapt sling which lo would still go in if I let her! It’s been amazing!
