AIBU to be nosy and ask what pram you got and why?

I’m blinded by a million prams/pushchairs/strollers/travel systems and have no idea what to go for.
I’m keen to have something for a newborn that can convert easily, isn’t too much of a pain to put up and down... and aside from that I’m
Blank!
What did you pick, what made you choose it and would you go for it if you had the choice again?

I got a Joolz Geo2. Had wanted an argh but then saw the Joolz which was a bargain at the Mamas & Papas outlet and saw it had a massive basket and was easy to put up and down so got that. It is fairly heavy and the accessories are extortionately expensive but we still use it every day now our baby is 18 months. and still love it

Bellasblankexpression · 24/07/2019 20:10

I think this is helpful... although I’ve discovered even more now Grin
I live in a city, flat with stairs up to it but hopefully be in our new house before baby arrives.
Like walking and running around the park, so ideally looking for something that will do okay off road.
But I am small and puny so also want something quite like.
I love the look of the silver cross wave but unsure whether it would be suitable for running and the chassis does look a bit heavy.

City mini jogger does look good and light although misleading name as it says it’s not designed for use jogging Grin

Going off to look at uppababy vista and the bee

I have an egg pushchair (Prosecco) and I chose it because I liked the look of it and it’s so easy to put up and down, I also have a out and about jogging pushchair for when I walk the dogs over the fields, and a whinny stroller for the car Grin the wuinnybis an absolute nightmare do not buy Envy

Liverbird77 · 24/07/2019 20:11

Oh, and forgot to say also that the wheels are nice and big so great for walks over all terrain.

Tweetingmagpie · 24/07/2019 20:11

Quinny!

Oct18mummy · 24/07/2019 20:15

Bugaboo Fox, then 6 months later the Babyzen Yo-yo out of the two I much prefer the yo-yo it’s life changing!

bananamonkey · 24/07/2019 20:16

Uppababy Vista. It’s seriously nice to push - wanky but true! I always really appreciate it after using a fold-up buggy on holiday. Car seat clips on easy, can use the carrycot as a Moses basket, the basket is MASSIVE, as previously mentioned you can fit a week’s shop underneath. Felt less heavy than the iCandy. Folds in one go. The built in sunshade is great, still love it nearly 3 years later!

As pp said only downside is it is wide.

CatsCatsCats11 · 24/07/2019 20:16

Bugaboo cameleon 3. Such a lovely push, can push one handed with a 98th centile toddler. Goes up and down curbs lovely.

JasperHale · 24/07/2019 20:21

Mutsy Evo. Super light but sturdy. Easy to fild. Just the hood could be bigger. But still loved it.

TruffleShuffles · 24/07/2019 20:21

I bought a silver cross wayfarer. It was the full travel system with the car seat. I purchased it because I just loved the look of it and it had a good sized basket underneath. I also purchased the babyzen yo-yo+ as I travel between countries a lot and it was good to fit in the overhead lockers on planes. I really wish I’d just bought the babyzen as my only pram and not bothered with the silver cross. I purchased the newborn pack for my baby and she much preferred this to the carrycot on the silver cross so I mainly used that and I could have got a compatible car seat to save me buying the two prams.

Got the bugaboo bee5 for DD and it was good when she was very little and for public transport around London but when she was about 18 months, we bought a joie chrome DLX. With the seat extended, her head was still touching the hood of the bee(although she is on the top centiles for her height). The DLX has a much bigger seat with a higher weight restriction & she's much more comfortable in there than she was the bee (she's 2 now). The basket of the joie is also huge and very easily accessed so great for shopping.

I found the bee very low down when she was newborn and had to bend to give her a dummy/see her etc which I didn't like. Have just bought a bassinet for the joie for DC2 and it's a much better height closer to me (I'm barely 5 ft 3 so not tall!) The joie being higher, at cafes, she could sit in the buggy if there wasn't a high chair and be the same height as the table but the bee was far too low. The basket of the bee is small and inaccessible when the child is world facing unless you lift the seat so changing bag had to be hung over the frame & I ended up having to carry bags if we went out shopping.

DH & I keep saying we wish we'd bought something like the joie upfront as we've lost a lot selling the bee second hand- it didn't have longevity for us. Just bought a mountain buggy duet to use as a double on days we do long walks with both children but will use the joie on days I'm alone with just 1. We looked at the bugaboo donkey (double convertible from single) but again, DD's head was touching the hood.

Dandelion1993 · 24/07/2019 20:30

Joie chrome becuase:

Lightweight

I can easily push with one hand

Fit all my shopping underneath

Not too wide so easy for shopping

Gets through the mud in my village but nimble for in town also.

I really like Joies products. I've had the chrome and car seats and never hand an issue.

We went for a silver cross wayfarer first time round. Huge mistake. The wheels were so tiny which made it impossible to push on anything other than smooth shop floors. With DS1 I got a maclaren stroller when he was 10 months. I used the silver cross for a couple of months with DS2 but the final straw was when I got stuck in the middle of the road with the bloody thing while trying to also keep hold of DS1 who was 3 by then. Bought a bugaboo buffalo for a bargain price (ex display) the week after- amazing. Easy to push one handed (essential with an older child), huge basket (again essential with 2 DC), brilliant sunshade so no need to faff with an extra accessory, adjustable handle ideal for parents of different heights (I’m 5’2, DH is 6’6), huge wheels so great off road too. Downside is that it is huge and heavy to lift when folded. I do still use our trusty maclaren stroller for quick trips to the shops.

Buyitinbamboo · 24/07/2019 20:46

The silver cross wave is really not suitable for jogging OP. You really want something with 3 wheels, here the front wheel can be locked and ideally air filled tyres. That's not to say it's impossible but with 4 wheelers but not as safe.

Mammyloveswine · 24/07/2019 21:01

I've had loads...

My favourite ever was my bugaboo Chameleon 3, I adored it and it's so lush to push! I bought mine second hand and it was immaculate! There's a fab Facebook page!

I now have a bugaboo bee which is so lightweight!! It's perfect for wheeling one handed with toddler ds1 walking alongside!

I had an oyster with ds1 which I loved too but the main seat is quite small.

CuteOrangeElephant · 24/07/2019 21:15

Bugaboo Cameleon 3

To get to my house I need to climb some hefty stairs. When DD was a newborn I could detach the carry cot, put her inside the house and come back for the base. It's also less than 10kg and it can make itself quite small if needed. In a pinch the seat bit can be strapped safely into the car with a seat belt on if I need the boot space for other things.

I love that it fits neatly into the cupboard under my stairs.

I like that I can use it both parent facing and forward facing.

I like that it's got a very small turn circle, very handy in the supermarket near me.

I couldn't get any of those lightweight prams as I where I live there are no nice crossings, to get off the pavement is a ginormous step. I also like walking on the canal, which can be a bit uneven. The proper off road prams are too heavy to deal with the stairs to my house.

I absolutely hate the basket on it though.

Leftielefterson · 24/07/2019 21:16

Silver cross Wayfarer Chelsea. It’s lovely. It’s aesthetically lovely, fairly light weight, has a good travel system and is sturdy.

StripeySocks29 · 24/07/2019 21:16

I had a Cosatto giggle 2 for the first year, because there weren’t any shops near us that I could go to easily to try them out and I figured all prams were pretty much the same 🤦‍♀️ so I just ordered one online that I liked the design of. I couldn’t really recommend it, I’m tall and it was too low so I ended up hunched over, coupled with unsupportive nursing bras really hurt my back and I kept accidentally hitting the brake with my big feet, and the basket was too small.

If I had to get another one I’d probably go for a Bugaboo or a Mountain Buggy, they seem to be the best (and the most expensive)

CuteOrangeElephant · 24/07/2019 21:16

That should say near the canal

CharlesLeeRay · 24/07/2019 21:20

Hauck Maxan 4 Trioset from Asda, got it st £300 from £700. Mainly price, but love the colour (stone grey), basket size and weight limit.

Had the mamas and papas ocarro beem on sale before I bought it I'd have got that one.

Moraxella · 24/07/2019 21:29

Icandy raspberry.. they seem to be pretty rare but it’s v light and has a newborn carrycot, forward facing and parent facing so I thought it might be better than the bee and more sturdy feeling than a yo-yo and was important that it could fit on public transport. Folds v small. Sling for mega off-roading.

loveacupoftea18 · 24/07/2019 21:30

Another one here with the silver cross wave. It's an absolutely beautiful pushchair, and really solid. Bought because of the ability to have a tandem seat and my husband much preferred it in real life against the Uppababy Vista (which was my preferred choice). However, honestly i wouldn't buy again. It's blinking heavy and takes up my entire boot (I do not drive a small car!)

jaseyraex · 24/07/2019 21:31

I had a Graco Evo XT travel system for DS1. It was easy to push and had great wheels and suspension on it although big and quite heavy. Won't lie, I liked the colour which made me buy it. It was grey and orange. Cost £820 at the time and I only used it for about 8 months, never used the car seat as we don't drive. I then bought a zeta vooom buggy.

For DS2 I bought a new zeta vooom buggy from the get go. Its suitable from birth, soooo light and easy one handed fold. Huge hood for sun protection. Its dirt cheap, £80 for the buggy plus rain cover and foot muff and a changing bag with mat. I didn't like the rain cover so I did buy one of those throw over full coverage rain covers. It's a gorgeous red colour. I love it, still going strong a year down the line despite its cheapness and I use it pretty much every day.

CharlesLeeRay · 24/07/2019 21:42

Oh mine also has a massive hood, great for sun protection/naps. If it's over fully you and even see the baby!

MindyStClaire · 24/07/2019 21:42

Uppababy vista, I love it with all my heart.

DD is 15 months now and we use a smaller buggy now during the week as we leave it at nursery. At the weekends, the vista is always out, often twice a day.

If you're in a city and space is an issue, I'd also look at the uppababy Cruz, my friend has one and also loves it. The vista would be better over rough ground though I'd say.
