Fuck fuck fuck.

We'll be the laughing stock of the world as he merrily fucks everything up. I am also on the breadline (or near it) and am also terrified.
It's like a bad dream or an episode of Years and Years, and then you remember, no - shit, this is actually happening. IT'S REAL.

MaxNormal · 23/07/2019 12:29

For fucks sake.

viques · 23/07/2019 12:30

Oh shit.

A man who can't even cope with being the chair on Have I got News for You.

I know the ancient Chinese proverb/curse May You Live in Interesting Times is neither ancient nor Chinese, but it sure is a curse, and I've never understood it until now.

Sandybval · 23/07/2019 12:30

Come on Labour FFS, sort yourselves out so we can get Boris out of number 10 at the next election.

BeerandBiscuits · 23/07/2019 12:30

I voted for him, brilliant news that he won Grin.

LadyBumclock · 23/07/2019 12:30

No I think Boris Johnson and Trump are comparable in more ways than the hair. They are both populist demagogues with a deeply nasty side, no respect for women, rumblings of past dodgy dealings, and an ability to shrug off the fact they have clearly, indisputably lied with no shame. They both have a vast amount of chutzpah which actually makes people like them and ignore the evidence that they are horribly bad news for a lot of people and for their countries.

I think Trump has made way for Boris in a sense, Trump has paved the way for it not mattering if you are clearly a liar and morally reprehensible, as long as you achieve Brexit/banish immigrants/shit on the poor/trash abortion rights/whatever the right-wing mob has in mind.

pazwaz70 · 23/07/2019 12:30

Buckle up! Whole country is fucked up anyway but hey let's add another fuck up!

Camomila · 23/07/2019 12:31

Just text DH Ireland's a lovely place to live...
We could also move to Italy but we've got Matteo Salvini...
I'm not 100% on the visa requirements for the Philippines (where DHs family are from) but the food and weather are good.

Pinktinker · 23/07/2019 12:31

He won’t last long.

I told everyone who wanted Theresa out that they were just asking for Bojo as PM and no one believed me 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Replied on the chat thread.

We all expected it but it still feels a bit surreal.

Boris Johnson UK PM
Donald Trump POTUS

When you consider some of the other unpredictable leaders of countries like Putin, Asaad, Kim Jong-Un and current tensions in places like Iran coupled with a potential no deal Brexit it feels like we are headed towards a perfect storm of chaos.

I'm probably dramatically catastrophising I should never have watched the BBC show Years and Years

NorthEndGal · 23/07/2019 12:32

As someone who's been watching from afar, I don't understand how anyone is surprised?
When he was mayor, he was clearly reveling in the attention. The only thing he likes more is power. It's his wank fodder.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/07/2019 12:32

In the past he has run away from any important decision. So it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Maybe he will stop brexit. Who knows.

If Teresa May has more support in parliament and was not blocked all the time, she might be still there.

Hard to know which was the better option.

JC is pro leave, and I’m not sure would be able to effectively lead the country either, I don’t know.

TBH, picking a random person on the street would probably do a better job.

Reallybadidea · 23/07/2019 12:32

Oh how we laughed when Trump was elected.

On the plus side, my expectations are so low that I can only be pleasantly surprised.

Fibbke · 23/07/2019 12:32

Isn't he fairly socially liberal for a Tory though? Trump definitely isn't.

StripeyChina · 23/07/2019 12:32

I'm in tears.
His 'acceptance speech' put the tin lid on it for me.

MitziK · 23/07/2019 12:32

Fuck's sake.

Anybody got some Iodine pills? With his diplomatic acumen, we're probably going to end up starting WWIII.

Cinammoncake · 23/07/2019 12:33

Winning against Corbyn is hardly an achievement. Interesting how Jo Swinson has got the Labour bots so worried. She sounds far more sensible than the other two (not hard)
Corbyn and Johnson will be gone by this time next year is my prediction.

Juells · 23/07/2019 12:33

Fibbke
It is truly bizarre how this idea that Boris Johnson and Trump are comparable has gained traction. I honestly believe it is because they both have mad blonde hair.

It's because both say anything that pops into their heads, both tell lies and don't even care when they're proven to be lies as it's the lie that people remember, not the truth.

We will end up with a hard border in Ireland, nobody in Britain seems to understand (or care) what a disaster that will be for Northern Ireland.

Owlypants · 23/07/2019 12:34

Boris and trump both in power at same time surely must be dangerous. I'm considering doing an Elon musk and moving to Mars where its safer

@serenoa clinging onto hope from your post, but what reasons would there be for him not being able to form a government?

ChocChocButtons · 23/07/2019 12:34

At least he wants to leave the EU so might try and actually pull it off.

LadyBumclock · 23/07/2019 12:35

And I agree this would never have happened if we had had a decent opposition. This is the result of not just no good opposition to vote for, but no opposition that will hold the government to account and point out what it's doing and expose its lies.

Afternooninthepark · 23/07/2019 12:35

Krusty the clown running our country? - Oh God help us!
