There felt to be a genuine feeling of change and hope yesterday. Everyone felt it, even the most ardent remainers felt the tides changing.
Ha Ha Ha Ha
He talked the talk, but the Cabinet members fill me with despair. The Brexit Party in disguise. They are so Brexit focused, and right wing- what happened to unite the Country- and we have kissed the Union goodbye??
My DC (26 & 23) are seriously worried and angry.
All we can hope for is the Tories and Labour implode and we get a realignment

busyhonestchildcarer · 25/07/2019 11:49

Bellinisurge,ha ha!! So you think we should be positive about change and if we dont like whats happening to the country leave😏😏😏 two problems with that. One is that who will ever make the changes the country deserves happen if those people who disagree dont stay to make tjose changes happen( deserting a sinking ship) and two if you have no money how on arth do you leave and start afresh.I can only assume that you could do this which maybe shows how far removed you are from the people who dont know how they will be able to afford to feed themselves

Cinammoncake · 25/07/2019 11:50

Sorry to disappoint 2eternities but we'll just end up with immigrants from other countries with lower wages than Europe, willing to work for far less. Why do you think some of these people want us to be more like Singapore? So it will be far far worse. (not trying to say Tory MPs will relish the prospect of cheaper prostitutes of course)

bellinisurge · 25/07/2019 11:56

@busyhonestchildcarer , presume that wasn't to me. I was taking the piss out of it and calling it Bullshit.

Graphista · 25/07/2019 11:56

There are a lot of angry comments and even semi lighthearted ones but for those in my position this cabinet is FUCKING TERRIFYING!

I'm genuinely scared what more is now going to happen to those of us with sod all power, money or support to live.

Rees-mogg! Seriously? Leader of the fucking house!?!?!?!?

Genuinely really bloody terrifying!!

As a Scot who voted "no" in indyref I am now genuinely hoping for another referendum on that ASAP and I think this time it will be a "yes" but I do feel somewhat guilty for feeling that way given the many people living in England Wales and particularly Northern Ireland who are just as vulnerable (in NI case much more so) to this utter shit show!

I also would not be at all surprised if there were calls for a NI indyref either. Though perhaps they would have 3 options - uk, join ROI, complete independence.

I for one would welcome any of those people moving to Scotland.

"You don’t have to live here if you don’t believe in the country" seriously how Fucking callous, heartless and selfish do you need to be! To think like that?!

Almost HALF the country DON'T want leave, a minuscule number of people have voted for Johnson to be PM - that isn't even a PRETENCE at true democracy! Even optimistic stats on unemployment put it at 3.7% of the U.K. Are not in any work whatsoever. Half the population is in need of some kind of state support. 7 million working age people are disabled.

That's just SOME of the people - who are JUST as entitled to have the country run for their benefit - who are likely to be extremely disadvantaged by this complete fucking debacle!

What gives YOU the right to decide who populates this country?! What you're saying in effect is that anyone who isn't a net contributor (are you?! I highly doubt it!) and isn't a "drain on resources" deserves thrown out of THEIR OWN COUNTRY!

Utterly despicable, fascist attitude!

We keep being told "Godwin's law" "melodramatic" "it's really not 1930's Germany type politics" well it bloody well looks like it to me with comments like that!

"It will be the poor and vulnerable who suffer for years and years, after already suffering for years under austerity. Whilst the rich get richer." Exactly! But people who make comments like "if you don't like it leave" don't give a shit about anyone but themselves!

PinguDance · 25/07/2019 12:02

You don’t have to live here if you don’t believe in the country

You realise this makes you sound like a fascist? What a poorly informed and disgraceful thing to say. And even if we ignore that, we the UK population have had our rights to leave the country SOMEWHAT COMPROMISED by our imminent departure from the EU.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 25/07/2019 12:04

busyhonestchildcarer
Bellinisurge was quoting a PP (urbanlife). I don't think that is their view.

bellinisurge · 25/07/2019 12:05

Thank you @DontMakeMeShushYou Grin.

2eternities · 25/07/2019 12:08

No cinnamon since unskilled migrants can't descend enmass from those non EU countries

BishopBrennansArse · 25/07/2019 12:14

@Graphista I'm in very similar shoes to you, I'm also terrified. It's laugh or cry for me, those bastards have had enough tears from me since 2010 so I'm going with laugh. How long for I don't know.

Apologies.Didnt see that bit 😊

Justanotherlurker · 25/07/2019 12:20

Rees-mogg! Seriously? Leader of the fucking house!?!?!?!?

It's a position with no real power and somewhere to put him out of policy making.

So not sure why its terrifying.

Almost HALF the country DON'T want leave, a minuscule number of people have voted for Johnson to be PM - that isn't even a PRETENCE at true democracy!

Don't look at the numbers who voted for the president of the EU, it would drive you into a tailspin of whatabout. However, as much as I dislike the solution we do vote for a party (remember you yourself on many anti corbyn threads parroting that mantra) not the PM and it isn't the first time it has happened throughout history, and at least it was put to the Con members unlike the last labour gov who had made a pact between themselevs (Brown and Blair) and didn't even put it to the membership.

All this hyperbole around Boris is why political discussion is crap, especially on MN

TuesdaySunshine · 25/07/2019 12:24

Plus sorry if this is a bit crude but women from Asia are completely different physically to European women so would not be much competition they have their own niche. Polish etc look the same as English women

What the fucking fuck am I reading??

2eternities · 25/07/2019 12:29

Graphista, we will be pushed to suck cock or sell drugs to survive. I already know two parents who have had to start selling cocaine because the two child cap is ruining them, my sil is very sick and uses adultwork to sell herself too. I myself will probably have to return to shagging the husbands of middle aged middle class women to pay for what I and my kids need since most work is so badly paid these days it's pointless doing it. I'm in Lancashire and things ain't good here I know a lot of people qho have died premature deaths the last few years all of them on benefits and in poverty

2eternities · 25/07/2019 12:32

Tuesday I'm an ex escort discussing the effects of mass EU immigration on the earning potential and work experiences of my fellow English ladies

SouthChinaSea234 · 25/07/2019 12:34

I think we can all calm down. This lot are not going to be in power for long. Not even 100 days.

BJ the Lady Jane Grey of British politics.

Woofbloodywoof · 25/07/2019 12:35

TuesdaySunshine
I thought the same.
Then I read upthread and realised that just because it’s sex work doesn’t mean we shouldn’t discuss it in free market/open borders terms.
It’s what is happening. It’s why Corbyn would much rather we Brexit, to protect workers’ wages. I voted Remain but Incan see it is a compelling argument to leave and hope our gig economy is somewhat stymied by stemming the flow of cheap labour not needing a visa.
Of course, if this cabinet do what a lot of us fear would happen to the already poor, unskilled and precariously housed, a lot more women will have to confront these realities that 2eternities has to.

That we are discussing the repercussions of EU borders in relation to sex worker demographics in 2019 is pretty fucking depressing.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 25/07/2019 12:37

I think we can all calm down. This lot are not going to be in power for long. Not even 100 days.

Sorry but I predict much longer than that.

Graphista · 25/07/2019 12:39

BishopBrennansArse - I'm so sorry you are in that position. I'm sick to the back teeth of those who aren't trying to tell those of us who KNOW AND LIVE that reality every day that we are being "melodramatic" etc it's fucking insulting!

"remember you yourself on many anti corbyn threads parroting that mantra"

1 I doubt that but happy to respond to evidence of it, I've said people need to not take against Corbyn and the Labour Party purely because they "can't take to" Corbyn, that they should look at Labour Party policies before dismissing them.

2 Johnson isn't just a leader of a party he's now leader of the country. THAT should not be happening without a GE. And I said the same (though not on here wasn't on here then) about brown (not that I'm a particular fan of new labour either)

I don't agree with having a pm that hasn't been properly elected. And yes I KNOW that "officially, legally" etc that's not how our system works but quite honestly the reality is voters do think that way and it majorly influenced their choices.

"Graphista, we will be pushed to suck cock or sell drugs to survive." I appreciate the point you are trying to make but neither would be an option for me I'd genuinely rather be dead. I'm a csa survivor which ruled out the first (I say survivor I'm still dealing with the mh ramifications) and I've lost loved ones to addiction so couldn't bring myself to do the latter either.

I absolutely do not judge sex workers but hell yes I judge the people who use them.

Southchinasea234 - I hope you're right, I really genuinely fear you aren't.

SouthChinaSea234 · 25/07/2019 12:48

@ Catherine of Aragon*

Sorry but I predict much longer than that

He has promised to deliver Brexit on his terms - so no Irish backstop- by Hallow‘een. EU have said this won‘t happen.

Otherwise he will leave without a deal. Parliament will not allow that to happen.

So we are going to have a general election.

BishopBrennansArse · 25/07/2019 12:56

People said May wouldn't last long too, but she clung on like a skid mark on the toilet bowl for 3 years....

Alsohuman · 25/07/2019 13:00

She only clung on with the support of the DUP and she didn’t have 17 former ministers out for her blood. This is very different.

LaurieMarlow · 25/07/2019 13:04

urbanlife · 25/07/2019 13:07

All the outrage in the world doesn’t change the fact that the country choose to leave the EU.
It was reinforced at the last GE of a campaign fought on leave (even if May didn’t deliver) and again at the EU elections. Everyone knew what they were voting for. Everyone accepted the outcome would be definitive.
The EU will come to the table now, and if they don’t then be rest assured we will have a great future either way. Maybe once we have left and the world still turns you may start to see the upside.
