The cheapest and the most expensive property within 5 miles...

TheFridgeRaider · 22/07/2019 19:24

Seeing so many threads about properties and the difference in prices reported I get why it can be so difficult for people to imagine the differences between areas.

Would IBU to be curious and ask you to hop on primelocation and see what are the cheapest and the most expensive properties within 5 miles of your home? Ignore shared ownership, retirement only and investment student studios. Obviously you don't have to post links, just say the area so you can keep anonymous.

I will start.
NW big city
The cheapest:
2 bed flat 35k. Fully livable! Just needs decorating. 15 min to city centre.
The most expensive: 😮

W. Yorkshire (5 mile radius from my postcode just outside a smallish city)

There were cheaper auction properties but I didn't count those because who knows what they'll sell for.

RiddleyW · 23/07/2019 17:13

There are cheaper than 198k though within 5 miles - what about this: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-72041857.html

Most expensive is listed as POA, next few offers over £3,000,000. Cheapest is a small flat for £35,000 in a known to be very seedy/druggie area. Cheapest flat that's in a non-dodgy area (other than mobile homes for £30k and up) is £44,000.

North wales.
Most expensive is £1,295,000 but this includes a 4 bed house, fishing lake, mini wildlife park with capybara and otters and a pancake house. The next most expensive £1,000,000.
Least expensive is £60,000 for a 1 bed bungalow which I walk past most days and is definitely not liveable in... its windows are boarded up and it covered in ivy. I can't imagine anyone will pay 60k to live on the side of the main road with no garden and a house that would be better been knocked down tbh.

ArtichokeAardvark · 23/07/2019 17:27
