Odd question from lodger

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 11:55

I woke up, rolled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. My lodger asked if I was going to the shop. Er, no, I have just got out of bed and going to take a piss. I don't offer a 24 hour guest service. I work really long hours in a demanding job, and you are a student. Go and buy your own f!cking breakfast, you CF.

Anyone else find this odd?

Nope, you’re a bit grouchy today. Go back to bed with a cuppa

raffle · 21/07/2019 11:57

You must wake up looking way better than I do! There’s no way someone would mistake my crinkled face and bed head hair as being acceptable to be viewed by the shopping public Grin

Rosasaurus · 21/07/2019 11:57

Ouch. I don't think that's odd at all.

Pipandmum · 21/07/2019 11:58

Not from a student. Do you provide any meals or just the room? If a student I imagine your lodger is young and may not be quite as independent as you’d like.

Nautiloid · 21/07/2019 11:58

Ah he probably just wanted some crisps bless him.

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 11:59

Pipandmum We're both mid 30s, believe it or not.

If I pop out, on the way to the front door, I will call and ask if she needs anything. She's never, ever once returned the favour to me. Not even this morning when she headed out.

To ask, when I'm clearly just out of my bed, and she's fully changed, is quite entitled I think.

you are reading way too much into an innocent question.

supercee · 21/07/2019 12:00

As @raffle says, I'd take that as a compliment that you look going to the shops ready just rolled out of bed!

maddy68 · 21/07/2019 12:00

Genuinely not getting what the issue is they heard you up and asked a question?

NCforthis2019 · 21/07/2019 12:01

Oh Jesus. Of course yabu. Get over yourself - he asked a simple question - just say no.

OKBobble · 21/07/2019 12:02

Maybe they meant later? Hardly an evictable offence.

SagAloojah · 21/07/2019 12:02

He does sound a but presumptuous. No way would I have asked in his situation, unless I knew you were up and about and on your way to the supermarket.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 21/07/2019 12:02

Lodger: Are you going to the shop?
You: No, I’ve just got up.
Lodger: Oh, okay.

End of ‘drama’ 🙄

gokartdillydilly · 21/07/2019 12:03

Not odd at all, no. Perhaps your paying guest hoped you were and that you could have picked something up for them.

Happy to take their money, but name-calling behind their back, OP, makes you the CF.

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 12:03

OKBobble LOL course I'm not going to evict them. I wasn't asking that rolls eyes did make me laugh though

makingmammaries · 21/07/2019 12:04

‘No, but if you are, I’ll give you a list of stuff to buy.’

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 12:04

gokartdillydilly They pay for the room and other facilities. As I said, I don't offer a 24 hour guest service.

OP posts:
SkydivingKittyCat · 21/07/2019 12:05

I think you need to go back to bed and try getting out the other side

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 12:05

gokartdillydilly and no, it was VERY clear I had just woken up to go to the bathroom, and not going out to the shop which is 2 mins away

OP posts:
Nautiloid · 21/07/2019 12:06

Do you get on? I can't imagine having a lodger I wasn't friends with. I know I happens but it feels like it would be really awkward if it's just the two of you.

motorcyclenumptiness · 21/07/2019 12:07

Well you might as well go now seeing as you're up anyway. I'll have some Pringles.

toffeeapple123 · 21/07/2019 12:07

Nautiloid I've lived in several flatshares and still am friends with my old flatties. But not sure I'll be friends with this one.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 21/07/2019 12:08

You might not be suited to having a lodger....

gokartdillydilly · 21/07/2019 12:08

She only asked a question! As did you. And the answer is still YABU.
