AIBU to think that Boris Johnson is not fit to be Prime Minister?

Boris Johnson questioned why the Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar isn't "called Murphy like all the rest of them?"

No doubt Johnson will have common ground with Trump and will offer the NHS on a plate as part of a trade deal.

Spot on Is

"However, it turns out he has no plans whatsoever even though he is the overwhelming favourite to be installed in No. 10 as overwhelmed Theresa May’s underwhelming successor."

Isthisafreename Class Grin
I love the Waterford whisperer for a good laugh, they have Boris and his plans correct.

Isthisafreename · 22/07/2019 11:26

@EmeraldShamrock - unfortunately, at the moment, there are an awful lot of articles in serious newspapers about Johnson, brexit, UK etc that you have to double check you're not reading waterford whispers.

AryaStarkWolf · 22/07/2019 11:26

I'm not offended as an Irish person with regards to stereotype of us all being called Murphy. It's lazy and lacks any wit or insight but doesn't really carry any weight or punch.

I do think it's extremely offensive to leo though to insinuate he can't be Irish because he has a forrin sounding name

Yeah, agree with this

I agree, it is almost like he is fair game for politicians to take the piss.
It wasn't long ago, a member of the DUP referred to him as the Indian.
Brexit is an absolute joke, and the muppets running the show are thick and ignorant thinking they have all the cards.

JaneJeffer · 22/07/2019 13:15

If it was a name like Mac an tSagairt or something that an English person would find hard to pronounce then maybe it would be funny in an ignorant kind of way! But it's an Indian surname that is just as easy to pronounce as Murphy so it's just racist.

The DUP and Johnson are well matched.

Although BJ is the Turk of course....at least in part. weill he be our first middle eastern origin leader of recent times? No Disraeli I suppose, if we are talking about UK not Ireland.

bumblingbovine49 · 22/07/2019 15:06

Personally I'd rather have the shit show that is labour but I know that puts me.in the minority on here.

If we are going to shake things up and bugger the consequences ( i.e no deal Brexit' ) then I'd rather be reckless-- brave and bold with Labour.
I wont get my wish though this country has been a conservative with a small c for most of modern history and I include Blair in that definition.
