AIBU to think that Boris Johnson is not fit to be Prime Minister?

Boris Johnson questioned why the Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar isn't "called Murphy like all the rest of them?"

www.businessinsider.com/boris-johnson-angela-merkel-stasi-leo-varadkar-murphy-comments-brexit-2019-7?r=US&IR=T

No doubt Johnson will have common ground with Trump and will offer the NHS on a plate as part of a trade deal.

Boris might actually be able to pull of Brexit

How, exactly? He's only read one clause of GATT, and he doesn't understand that one.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 19/07/2019 14:00

Wow i can’t imagine what it must be like being someone who puts their faith in Boris Johnson

EmeraldShamrock · 19/07/2019 14:00

He is an embarrassment to his country, him and his kippers. Blush
Ireland is preparing for a hard Brexit, I've no doubt it will happen as a hard Brexit if Boris is prime minister.

Piglet89 · 19/07/2019 14:00

@ChocChocButtons

not really I just know that we need someone to lead our country and Boris might actually be able to pull of brexit

It’s “off”. Mind you, I expect a fairly low standard of education from someone who is unquestioning enough to support a racist, incompetent, lazy, dangerous fool like Boris.

mikado1 · 19/07/2019 14:02

Despite his education, BJ comes across as completely clueless and has done for years. He was laughable but now it's just frightening.

MrPan · 19/07/2019 14:06

This what we have come to? As a much vaunted nation on the planet to a bloke who waves a kipper over his head a la Monty Python sketches? God awful.

There is a serious note. Lots of well placed organised countries have sucummed to such madness. History tells us this. We are showing all of the trademarks of such countries.

bellinisurge · 19/07/2019 14:06

He knows exactly what he is doing. Brand Johnson is currently a racist twat. He has previously tried other versions but this is the one that gets him most media coverage and, as is likely, the No 10 job.
No amount of being an Anti-Irish twat changes the fact that Ireland has 26 mates in the EU and the UK has none. Anywhere.

LaurieMarlow · 19/07/2019 14:06

BJ comes across as completely clueless

I think he’s just deeply lazy and cba.

He knows how to appeal to the lowest common denominator and the press and he’d much prefer to keep doing that than engage with anything difficult.

He’s not capable of stage managing an orderly brexit. But he might well give the go ahead to a crash out.

He’ll be pilloried for ever more for that, but the damage will be done.

GrouchoMrx · 19/07/2019 14:07

Boris has proven himself to be a 'kipper' when it comes to detail:

The 'EU regulations' he was disparaging turned out not to be EU regulations after all. The regulations were from the UK !!

He is not as clever as people make out. I’ve read all about him (which I shouldn’t do as I’m preg and it puts my blood pressure up).

There was an urban myth he got a first in his degree from Oxford: he didn’t. He did no work and got a 2:1. Because he’s lazy and arrogant (see above).

The pure loathing I feel towards him is passionate, ardent and uncontrollabe

Nannyamc · 19/07/2019 14:09

He is what we call in Ireland a Gombeen man.

MrPan · 19/07/2019 14:09

Pull off Brexit? You mean isolation and small country existence? Leaving the massive trading block that is the EU? Because we are bigger alone?

FFS grow up. See how global the globe is?

miaCara · 19/07/2019 14:11

I despair of the lot of them.
I did think Rory was the best of a very bad bunch but he isnt savvy enough yet to do a good job.
Having said that look at the idiots we have on offer. I am not taken in by Boris's clown act though. He is a hard nosed , money grabbing, self serving ,mysoginistic bastard who for some unfathomable reason has supporters who love his act.
I can only presume they dont need any of the services he will quickly sell off.

I wish I could up and leave but the only place I could go is America...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/07/2019 14:11

Dying laughing that a "plus" point for BJ is that he might be able to "pull off Brexit" - like that's actually a plus at all!
Although also sniggering at the puerile associations with the term "pull off" - wanking Brexit is appropriate. Grin

Halloumimuffin · 19/07/2019 14:11

He was also the member of a club that caused huge amounts of criminal damage, hired and harrassed prostitutes, vandalised public property and attacked the homeless. Lovely chap.

MrPan · 19/07/2019 14:14

Johnson is a DVer, racist, incompetent, lazy, bog trotter who appeals to the worst elements of the right wing of a right wing party.

Brefugee · 19/07/2019 14:15

I just know that we need someone to lead our country and Boris might actually be able to pull of brexit

oh dear @ChocChocButtons that's a bit daft.
Pissing off the nearest neighbour - who has a big say in the GFA - isn't statesman like. Not to mention racist and stupid.

agree with @Creatureofthenight this is worse than being stuck between a rock and a hard place

GrouchoMrx · 19/07/2019 14:15

"Clockwork Orange" springs to mind.

Seems like any old misogynistic, racist, thatch-topped wanker gets to lead a major Western nation these days without repercussion.
Doesn't say much for civilisation.

cardibach · 19/07/2019 14:18

Piglet doing no work and getting a 2:1 does suggest intelligence. However, Boris refuses to use his in any other use than self-promotion. He is a dangerous, calculating, racist, over-confident disaster in the making.

pigsDOfly · 19/07/2019 14:18

As pp said, he's our Trump, god help us.

I don't understand how anyone could think having him as our PM is a good idea. I feel genuinely fearful of where this is all going to end.

He wants to shut down our democratic system so he, and his cohorts, can do as they like and bring in a no deal brexit. Sounds like he wants his own little dictatorship.

The man's a bloody disaster.

isitwhatitis · 19/07/2019 14:19

What with Trump and Boris we're making a right mess of things. Fast forward a few years and it'll be like having the Nazis in power all over again.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 19/07/2019 14:19

Being boris Johnson has always worked for boris Johnson, why would he change now? The people taken in by him aren’t going to change their minds now that they are entrenched (or they won’t admit to any doubts at least)

SuperSara · 19/07/2019 14:20

Boris is an utter fuckwit.

However, if it's a choice between him or Corbyn's Labour there can be only one winner.

And it won't be the antisemite, magic money tree, IRA sympathising Trotskyites.

God help us.

twosoups1972 · 19/07/2019 14:20

It's actually unbelieveable and quite scary that they feel comfortable being so blatantly racist

Completely agree. It's 2019 FFS. And there was me thinking we now live in a tolerant society. And after the Panorama programme about anti-semitism in the Labour party.....so scary.
