OK, so there have been a few conspiracy theories around the 1969 moon landing, and some people think it was staged; all filmed on a film set (in Arizona I think...) I used to believe these conspiracy theories, but have seen a few things more recently that have made me think 'hmm maybe it did happen...' I am quite torn. So can I ask you to vote to say what you think... Thanks folks

Why did you believe it didn’t happen? Do you really think all the people who would need to be involved would keep quiet for so long? Apply some logic and critical thinking.

Yes, it happened. I would not be surprised if a few "extra" photos were taken back on earth later, but I have no doubt that man has been to the moon

I do think it happened, but can someone science minded explain to me what the earth looks so small in the photos they took there? The earth is so big compared to the moon and yet it looks the same as the moon looks from earth which really confuses me!

I am definitely not one to believe conspiracy theories but I am very sceptical about this.

Visited the Smithsonian museum in Washington dc which has an exact replica of the luna unit that was meant to land on the moon. It looks like a very dated prop from an old movie like Space Odyssey. It just doesn't look high tech or robust enough, particularly as it was meant to get those astronauts make to earth as well.

I'm not going to list out all the other reasons for my scepticism, but I don't think it would have been impossible to construct something that most nasa employees thought they were seeing / working on, with only a dozen or so that really knew.

Plus the moon is only about 1/3rd size of earth and the moon illusion (google it) makes the moon seem bigger sometimes on earth.

Of course it happened. I was alive at the time, albeit very young. Think about the thousands, possibly tens of thousands of people, who'd have to have been involved and sworn to secrecy. Just not plausible.

I don't go in for conspiracy theories at all. What's supposed to have happened to Apollo 11 after it launched? Thousands of people were there at Cape Canaveral watching the launch. That wasn't faked. So where did it go, if not to the moon? And what about the later Apollo missions which also went to the moon? Were they all fakes as well?

Just don't get it. Why not believe the obvious explanation, which is that Apollo 11 went to the moon?

Yes it happened. One of the most convincing bits of proof is that with modern powerful telescopes it is possible to actually see the landing sites on the Moon today.

Also, the astronauts left reflectors on the moon which are still to this day used by scientists to gauge precisely the distance to the moon (by bouncing laser pulses off them and measuring how long it takes for them to reflect back).

The Russians were closely watching the moon landing to verify it happened as they were in a race to get their before the US. If they'd been faked, the USSR would have been falling over themselves to say so.

The USSR (as it was then) have never claimed USA faked it. They would have loved to be able to.

They haven't gone back for some time as there is simply no point. It's extraordinarily expensive and scientifically not much merit in repeating the exercise.
