To dislike when strangers ask me the age gap of my children?

I know this is probably irrational, but I have a small gap between kids.
I was in the post office today and the que was massive, as I was leaving this random woman asked me really loudly what my kids age gap is, I told her "it's not a very big one!" And left.
Why are people so nosey ?!

I think I'm annoyed because it was in the most quiet place, and I can imagine everyone's ears were tuned in!

Why to people need to know / ask, when they don't even know me? Especially in a post office FGS...

Rant over!

@Daddylonglegs1965 I'm in my early 30's so not too young! I am probably quite a private person really, and even prior to having children I just liked 'getting on' with my day and minding my own business.
I think it's also because I have an extremely supportive, hands on, husband who does 9-5, so although I acknowledge how hard this is (it is!) I don't feel I necessarily need advice from strangers (and if I do I'll just ask on here!)

I take them to baby classes, although that's harder now because of the age gap and the eldest running around everywhere, and we go to the park etc, I do speak to other mums there and that's enough for me really.
I don't mind someone cooing over them at all, but I do mind being barked questions at like I was yesterday.

Some people on this thread side with me and others don't, I'll take it all into consideration for the next time it happens to me (probably today!) and I'll try not to let it get to me.
I know people don't mean anything bad by it, but I just want to get on with my day without being asked questions by strangers...that's just how I feel sometimes.

My first two are 10 months apart and are the same age for 2 months of the year. At the moment they're both 12 until this Saturday. My first had just turned two when I had my 3rd. These questions never bothered me at all.

Like with twins. Oh so are they natural? Wtf!! Someone did ask me that once. I stared at her and said sorry I don’t understand the question? Rude!!

Elmo311 · 17/07/2019 11:43

@Rubbinghimsweetly2 I'm glad they don't bother you! Hopefully the Q's are less now that they are older though?
Happy Birthday for Sat!

@SuzieQQQ People think they can just ask whatever they want nowadays! So rude!
