In your opinion. Just interested.

Eating a turnip in the cinema.

Nautiloid · 10/07/2019 22:02

I am still pathologically averse to eating anything in the street after years of having it drummed into me that 'ladies don't do that'.

ScreamingValenta · 10/07/2019 22:02

@FrancesFryer Oh, but Jilly Cooper includes common people in her novels too - you can easily spot them because they can't pronounce their aitches and think double-glazed picture windows are aesthetically more pleasing than mullioned ones Grin. Some of them even send their children to comprehensive schools! Shock

Adoptthisdogornot · 10/07/2019 22:03

Agree with PP who said inconsiderate behaviour. So eating smelly food on a bus or playing loud music on the beach so everyone is forced to listen to it.

Littering, and a general lack of care or respect for the environment around them.

EllenEyewater · 10/07/2019 22:03

Taking pride in a lack of education / general knowledge

Karlwho · 10/07/2019 22:04

Thanks for replying, it's interesting to read each one. I didn't grow up in the UK and some of the examples given I'd never previously considered.

Not true. That’s snobbery I think?

Not necessarily. I don’t think the constant judgey comments on here about people with money and how they spend it is snobbery.

Lizzielocket · 10/07/2019 22:05

Bad manners
Weed smoking
Michael Kors anything
French bulldogs
Babies in jeans and trainers
Baby girls with big bows on their heads in pink prams
Too much cleavage on show, ditto bum cheeks hanging out of shorts
Clip in hair extensions
Any sort of nail art
Plastic shoes and handbags
Bare chested men in public
Dirty/crusty feet in sandals
Onesies or pj’s worn on the school run or in the supermarket, even worse if the offender still has the remnants of yesterday’s make up on
Arguing in public
Hot tubs

FrancesFryer · 10/07/2019 22:05

@ScreamingValenta

Oh the horror of comprehensive schools, I'd almost forgotten. Shock

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 10/07/2019 22:06

Going to Blackpool, Benidorm or Magaluf on holidays

Karlwho · 10/07/2019 22:06

I'm thinkinf I should've used a different term rather than 'common'. Someone said 'uncouth'; that's probably more appropriate.

OP posts:
AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 10/07/2019 22:08

Saying 'on holidays' Blush

TheFastandCurious · 10/07/2019 22:08

Giving your kids Iceland frozen shit and chips every single night.

AnneElliott · 10/07/2019 22:08

My mother would say;
Eating in the street
Smoking in the street
Spitting
Women swearing
Discussing your personal business loudly in public

Madein1995 · 10/07/2019 22:10

Oh what a joy to hear that drug addicts are 'commom'. We're not all lying in the street with a needle in our arm you know.

I take it you do know that anyone can become addicted to drugs and alcohol, not just the 'underclass'. Politicians, celebrities (and not just those who get judged a lot eg Katie price but 'respectable' celebs), doctors, nurses, policemen, probation officers, teachers, lawyers, bankers etc etc

Awks · 10/07/2019 22:10

More rings than you have fingers 😂

Dippypippy1980 · 10/07/2019 22:11

It’s all about manners.

Being loud in public, swearing loudly in public, spitting in the street, being disrespectful, queue jumping, not parenting their children.

It has nothing to do with money or social status.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/07/2019 22:11

taking drugs
Does that make Michael Gove a common little oik then?

TeachesOfPeaches · 10/07/2019 22:11

According to my friend being able to see a little girl's nappy is common so it must be covered by weird bloomer things or knickers if she is a bit older

Dodahdodah · 10/07/2019 22:13

eating pasties in the street 😂

Everyone eats pasties in the street in Cornwall!

blue25 · 10/07/2019 22:14

Having a bottle of ketchup on the dinner table for every meal

TheStuffedPenguin · 10/07/2019 22:15

Using the word "hun"

AgnesNutterWitch · 10/07/2019 22:16

@nautiloid me too!! I had this drummed into me by my gran and even now when I see people walking and eating (or even eating on the the bus or in a car) I can't help but cringe a bit even though objectively I know it's just how modern life is and not actually anything to do with manners.

PickAChew · 10/07/2019 22:16

Other people's attitudes, mostly.

Dodahdodah · 10/07/2019 22:16

I’d love a hot tub. ❤️
