I would only call out "Gaming" in that list. It's only common as in "ubiquitous".

AlaskanOilBaron · 19/07/2019 11:31

- Talking about drinking all the time e.g. "shriiiiiiiek it's wine 'o clock", 'cocktails with the girls' and such

I agree, I hate this. It's so dull.

Everyone who contributes to this thread. And yes. Me.

Purpletigers · 19/07/2019 11:44

Bad behaviour in public.

Even the most common of people by mumnet standards will have something good about them . People can’t help the situations they are born into and not everyone has the mindset to change that.

roisinagusniamh · 19/07/2019 11:46

Posh Spike now Victoria Beckham and David B are common as muck. Money and fame can't hide it.

thecatsthecats · 19/07/2019 12:08

CatDuck

Good list.

These are my own personal definitions, to amuse and satisfy no one but myself:

Commonness is the ostentatious projection of your own feelings, behaviours, and attitudes over whatever group you are presently in regardless of the effect it has. (Therefore it is impossible to be common in a room all by yourself!).

The opposite is classiness - the ability to seamlessly integrate with dignity and grace with whatever group you're with.

Social class (which I think people are ludicrous to ignore as a phenomenon, even if the boundaries have blurred) is separate. This is where the specifics of terminology and taste exist.

Here endeth the lesson on the world according to me.

@CatDuck

What's the point in saying sorry and then crossing it out? You're either sorry or you're not.

HiJenny35 · 20/07/2019 01:03

Tattoos of your childrens faces on your shoulders in the style of a black and white photo or Roxy your beloved Rottie or a combination of the above.

ThighsRelief · 20/07/2019 01:16

Tattoos of your friends' faces on your face.

DanglyWhoreTassels · 20/07/2019 07:14

Thigh when you said to get your face tattooed on my face I never thought for a minute that you'd then declare it common once I did it! Hmm

I actually think it's posh!
