I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

Why are cats and dogs ok in bed but children not?

viques · 06/07/2019 16:06

I feel your pain OP. I am feeling a bit smug because I am having clean sheets time two nights in a row. Changed the bed at home yesterday ( including washing pillow protectors) and tonight we are away in cottage so more clean sheets......

Clean bed linen is my desert island discs luxury.

Birdie6 · 06/07/2019 16:07

I feel your pain. Clean linen night is sacred at my place. And newly shaved legs on the same night - wonderful.

ambereeree · 06/07/2019 16:08

I'm with you OP pyjamas only in bed. I'm training my 3 year old to also not get into bed with her nursery or park clothes.

Nousernameforme · 06/07/2019 16:09

Clean sheets are sacrosanct in this house. If I have changed my bed sheets I will be first in the bed.

That said lying on top of a duvet in your own bedroom in daytime clothes is fine. What would you do if the dc's room was too small to get a chair in.

Riceandthings · 06/07/2019 16:09

On it or in it?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/07/2019 16:09

If I won the lottery I'd have someone change my bed covers daily

This sort of comment is often posted. But isn't that the fastest way to the novelty wearing off and it becoming nothing special, really really quickly? Confused

Just like anything that is a treat because it isn't everyday.

bringincrazyback · 06/07/2019 16:10

Blimey, your home sounds like a really relaxing place to be, OP(!)

Coffeekisses · 06/07/2019 16:10

Yanbu x 100000 million! Changed ours this week and the DS both jumped all over it in muddy soil-y t shirt and shorts. Woke in the night because I could feel grit and sand beneath my pillow

SilverySurfer · 06/07/2019 16:11

Huge toss up between batshit or bonkers.

that25cUKHeatwaveof2019 · 06/07/2019 16:13

I can't go to bed without having a shower first, personal preference, but even I couldn't get worked up about clothes unless they are covered in filth.
I take my clothes off for a nap for comfort, but wearing the same tshirt in bed wouldn't kill anyone.

I got rid of all the carpets in the house because the idea of them make me vomit cringe, so we all have our own little quirks1

MulberryPeony · 06/07/2019 16:16

I totally get you. Same with magazines too. I get much more enjoyment when they’re fresh!

ddl1 · 06/07/2019 16:25

Well - I think that your dd shouldn't lie on your bed, or anyone else's, without asking permission; so you have a right to be a little annoyed at that. But why shouldn't she lie on her own bed in outdoor clothes, if she wishes to? I'm assuming that they're reasonably clean - if she'd just been rolling in the mud it's slightly different, I suppose!

Clarich007 · 06/07/2019 16:30

Seems a bit odd to get annoyed about, but understandable if you've had a bad week.
There again, you don't sound too house proud if your bed changing was long overdue

Clarich007 · 06/07/2019 16:34

Also, have you only got one set of sheets and duvet covers ?

mossmurray · 06/07/2019 16:35

@BuzzShitbagBobbly for me the novelty wouldn't wear off no.
It may not become a luxury anymore but if I had the choice to sleep in fresh sheets every night rather than unfresh ones I'd take the fresh everytime no contest

Gwenhwyfar · 06/07/2019 16:36

"Do you just drop into bed in your jeans? "

Only if I'm drunk, but I definitely would have a rest on top of the bed in my normal clothes.

Tallgreenbottle · 06/07/2019 16:37

Is this post for real? Outdoor clothes are not dirty unless actually dirty. How has that ruined the 'clean bed'

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 16:37

get mine into bed during the day! Unless unwell. You are being unreasonable, controlling, weird, nasty to your poor dd who was just resting and displaying tendencies of OCD.

I'm really not. You on the other hand are exaggerating massivrly

Ddl1, in it

I've already agreed she should be allowed in her own bed in whatever the hell she likes and will be from now on. Please can people acknowledge that be fore they lay into me

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 16:39

And she wasn't unwell she was just having a slob around. She's had a really busy week too.

"There again, you don't sound too house proud if your bed changing was long overdue"
Not long overdue but definitely overdue. And no, definitely not house proud, I'd love to be but my house is just too much of a mess :o

Thump · 06/07/2019 16:42

But why did it take 190 people to get you to realise that your dd laying down on her own bed was unreasonable? Or on your bed given the absence of her own bed for that matter! Is she allowed to lounge on the sofa?

Thump · 06/07/2019 16:43

*that your dd laying on her own bed was NOT unreasonable.

pelirocco123 · 06/07/2019 16:43

Surely clean sheets can only be fully appreciated when you get into bed naked

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 16:45

Thump I said iwbu very early on. What is it that you want from me at this point?
