I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

I love fresh bedding. We strip and change the bed every Saturday, and I always try to go to bed before DP. Our cat generally gets in before both of us though. This morning I woke up with her plus half the garden, and DP forced right to the edge.

Tellmewhyidontliketuesdays · 07/07/2019 19:25

I too was planning on fresh bedclothes today (i love a freshy changed bed) so let DC have plates of toast with honey and cream cheese this morning in my bed. Except I forgot to change the bedding and now DS2 is asleep in my bed so I can't even do it tonight.

Benjispruce · 07/07/2019 19:27

I changed the bed today bit then realised the window was open and all the 'outside' got on my clean sheets!!! Had to throw them out and buy new ones. Had to wash the new ones but then realised I'd dried them outside so they had air on them so went out to get another set....

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/07/2019 19:34

This thread has certainly taken a turn for the weird.

I actually don’t think YABU. We have indoor clothes, outdoor clothes and pyjamas as well as inside and outside shoes (inside shoes are usually called slippers…)

I love that clean sheets feeling!!

Benjispruce · 07/07/2019 19:35

It started out batshit crazy!

MrsBadcrumble123 · 07/07/2019 19:42

Seriously you need to get a grip woman Confused

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 19:49

Grip got many pages ago as I have repeatedly stated

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 19:49

Living hell hope your ds is feeling better soon!

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 19:50

And yes we only have one set of sheets. In an emergency we could probably make do with various spare stuff but only one nice matching set. Is that really unusual? What do people think will happen?

OP posts:
MaisieDaisy1 · 07/07/2019 19:53

Yes I prefer jot to lie on the sheet in clothes I've been outside in. I don't think that's so unusual!

I think that’s highly unusual and extremely petty to tell her off for that.

Biancadelrioisback · 07/07/2019 19:54

This is hilariously. FWIW OP, I don't share your view of outdoor clothes in bed, but you've handled this thread brilliantly.

AllTheGlitter · 07/07/2019 20:01

I’d actually agree with you OP! I avoid lying on my bed unless I’m in pyjamas/ completely fresh clothes too (but I am very odd about my bedding and change it twice a week to the annoyance of my partner)!

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 20:04

Tell her off was too strong. I said something like oi get out of your bed with your clothes on.

OP posts:
AlansLeftMoob · 07/07/2019 20:04

Do you just drop into bed in your jeans? Do you get back from the park, rolling around on the grass and then sit on your bed, on the bottom sheet, to read a book?

Yup, I've often hopped into bed in my jeans especially when DC were small and I could grab a nap. And I've often sat or lied on my bed to read a book at the end of a long day outside. Unless you're covered in shit I don't see the problem?!

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 20:05

I have always wondered how people who nap do it though, whether they got changed before or just sort of napped on top of the bed. Now I know :)

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 20:06

Might just be me who can go a whole day and then when I take my jeans off notice the big streak of mud (hopefully), ice cream or chewing gum near the bottom. Not often but I do this often enough to not want to dirty my bed with my clothes. Anyway, we're all different

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 07/07/2019 20:08

What an interesting thread!

My dc can lie on top of the duvet in normal clothes (no shoes upstairs because carpet) but I'd be annoyed at them getting into bed in their clothes.

BetterEatCheese · 07/07/2019 20:11

Wow I had no idea this existed! Never occurred to me. Sno

Mymomsbetterthanyomom · 07/07/2019 20:11

I personally like a little sand in my bed. It's almost like being at a resort, little bit of beach AND exfoliation at the same time.Who doesn't love that?
Oh,it must just be me then.
I didn't realize I was the only one that is so "house proud"!

neveradullmoment99 · 07/07/2019 20:13

This is a very strange thread. I lie on my bed all the time! With my outdoor clothes on Hmm No idea why that would be a bad thing unless you have dirty clothes or mucky shoes?

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 20:16

Do you lie in your bed, under the duvet, on the sheet?

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 07/07/2019 20:17

I too believe in the restorative power of a freshly changed bed on a Sunday night.
I'd be more pissed off than I'd let on.
I'm still a bit cross that my dh didn't put on a fresh bed for my return from hospital after dd was born. But I know that this is probably a bit unreasonable now dd is 12 Grin

Christmassaussage · 07/07/2019 20:17

I get completely what OP is saying. I do not sit on my bed after having been outside in my outside clothes. My kids know this. My MIL even knows this when she is babysitting. The train seats alone (shudders) ...I do not want to sleep in anything that's been in contact with that. Watch one of the YouTube videos where they clean them. So disgusting.Or anything that may have brushed up against a toilet seat. Grass - no thanks - don't know what has weed on there. I like knowing my fresh clean bedsheets are clean. And come on, kids get mucky. They don't care what they touch or what they brush up against. My kids could easily brush up against an escalator and have all sorts of black marks (I'd try to stop them of course) but guys, unless you have had a pest infestation of any kind (moths, head lice, ants, threadworms etc) you would be OTT too. I'm very conscious of hand washing the minute we come home, before eating and before eating. Typically, if we don't go out again, first thing we do when we get home is showers and then lounge in our PJs. Also shoes off at the front door. I don't want to walk on outside muck that's been dragged in. OP is not a weirdo, I think it's just normal. Air particles sit on your clothes, that's what happens with third hand smoke... and I think it applies to other things too! (Preparing to get flamed now Grin)

neveradullmoment99 · 07/07/2019 20:17

I am currently lying on top of my duvet. I take my shoes off. It doesn't bother me. When I wear my pj's, I get into my bed. To me, that's the difference.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/07/2019 20:19

I don't use public transport. But really, what does a little germ do? I have been doing it for years and years and I have been fine. Its comfy!
