I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

It's not wrong, it's perfectly normal. As is getting into bed in the clothes you've just been to the park in. I'll never properly get it but iabu.

LadyBahbahbah made me actually LOL. Mine does the same, furry git!

celticprincess · 07/07/2019 18:08

I often climb into bed fully clothed. In the afternoon for a nap if I’m shattered. I really don’t get this bed thing.

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 18:09

Horpitals are different I think. There was no one sick here when she did it. Oh other than d herself who was diagnosed as ill by a pp on the basis she had lay down twice.

@MmeBoulaye how is it wrong? It’s not like as soon as you get undressed the bacteria mysteriously vanish! they are on our clothes, our bodies, our hair, in the air, the door knobs, everywhere! Unless you have your bed in a sterile decontamination zone the bacteria is already there! I’m guessing you dont have pets?

Dailyjunglegrind · 07/07/2019 18:12

I certainly understand..... happy to lend two charming sporty boys.. this will soon put some perspective on what’s dirty and truly deserving of a costume change before sitting or lying on anything indoors

Hanywany · 07/07/2019 18:17

I dont do sitting on the bed once the bed has been made let alone in it with clean sheets and outdoor clothes it makes me go mental my dh laughs his head off at this! And we have outdoor clothes and indoor slouchy/comfy clothes! I just feel really uptight and uncomfy in my outdoor/nice clothes i have to change immediatley when im indoors! But thats just me!! Grin

Cheesoholic · 07/07/2019 18:17

I'm with you all the way and am a bit horrified at he number of people getting into bed with outdoor clothes on! Except for actually telling your child off for doing so. A simple reminder not to go into her bed with her clothes on, explaining again why this is unhygeinic can teach her what a lot of mumsnetters seem to have never been taught ha ha! 🤣😂😉 But it's certainly not "bad" behaviour, warranting being told off.

SW6mama · 07/07/2019 18:18

@LadyBahBahBah 🤣🤣🤣

DeadBod · 07/07/2019 18:21

I don't mind the outdoor clothes aspect but I'd hate anyone else getting the benefit of lovely fresh bedding before me.

BitterestPill · 07/07/2019 18:30

Stealthpolarbear you do not yaDNbu! I would go blooming mental if anyone sat on my/in my bed with outside clothes on!
Both my D.C. (15 and 9) wouldn't dream of sitting on their beds in anything that's been worn outside.
I love that clean bed feeling so much, I iron my bedding too....I make no apologies for it.

BitterestPill · 07/07/2019 18:31

Know* not not

Crazycatperson · 07/07/2019 18:33

This post is hilarious! It makes me feel that I'm quite normal after all and not OCD. I must run and tell my boyfriend.

Grandmi · 07/07/2019 18:36

You have too much time on your hands and very lucky if DD lying on or in bed is bad behaviour! I am lying on my bed in my day clothes now ,and doggy lying on my bed as well ...really cannot see the issue.

akmum18 · 07/07/2019 18:37

I’m with you OP I’ve had ocd since I was at primary school but put good hygiene down to being just the ‘right thing’ id feel icky having germy, worn clothes all over my bedding and the same for my children’s Blush

slithytove · 07/07/2019 18:46

I can beat this op

Bed changed, duvet cover not on yet as swapping to summer tog

Dh sat on bottom sheet and ATE CRISPS 😡

slithytove · 07/07/2019 18:47

And yes, fresh bedding = no eating, no sex, shower before bed and clean pjs on day 1!

I also don’t like day clothes in bed - on top of bed is ok.

xotyl · 07/07/2019 18:57

Bit ott, love clean sheets but wouldn’t pick that as a battle. Also you love clean sheets but only have one duvet cover for your bed, is that right? I think that is a tad unusual.

Campervanlife4me · 07/07/2019 18:59

I am with you 100% My DC are allowed on their own beds in whatever they are wearing but not mine. And also when I put clean, fresh bedding on the bed, I like to be the first person to get into it and feel it. I have never told DC off though if they've managed to get there first. Just been quietly pissed off.

saoirse31 · 07/07/2019 18:59

I think you need to relax a bit op. How is this even an issue?

1forAll74 · 07/07/2019 19:07

It doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of house things, we all like getting into bed with nice clean bedding, hey ho.

I have three cats, and they all seem to like it when I put nice clean bedding on, especially after they come in from the garden,, and that means 12 paws trampling over everything !

As an aside, one of my cats, always the same one, every time I am attempting to put the duvet cover on,he always gets inside it,and I end up trying to get him out before I fasten everything up,as he seems to think its a game, and he is trying to shuffle around inside and paw fighting me.

HappilyHarridan · 07/07/2019 19:12

Op you are not being unreasonable! You just aren’t!

Marcipex · 07/07/2019 19:13

Sorry, but of course she did it to annoy you.

LlamaDrama20 · 07/07/2019 19:17

I'm sort of with you on this... if I had been on and off public transport all day (London) I'd probably change before lying in/on my bed. Not so much if I've just been in my car/ around local town.

BUT

my real horror is when we come back from holiday and DH puts the suitcases (which have been dragged through god knows what) ON THE BED to unpack!

Please spare a thought for me, my 19 yo DS has had a tummy bug, has been lying in my bed (I didn’t know) and he’s just vomited all over my gorgeous duvet that I bought from John Lewis less than 5 months ago 🤬. I have no duvet right now as everywhere is closed 🤬🤬
