I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

Jeez OP, you need to get out more. Seriously!

Purplejay · 06/07/2019 23:12

You told her off for lying on her own bed on outdoor clothes?! Are you for real? Unless she has been mucking out cows or something yabu!

I love to get in a clean bed but well I think you brought this one on yourself Hmm

freddiethegreat · 06/07/2019 23:19

Well, I changed my bed today. Just got out of the bath ... to discover StinkyDog got to the bed first. Yes, only on not in, but I AM peeved about that!

Socksontheradiator · 07/07/2019 06:37

Oh my goodness! A loud hell yeah to the knicker rule!

SuzieQQQ · 07/07/2019 07:27

What are “outdoor clothes” do you mean a jacket or something?

Benjispruce · 07/07/2019 07:33

In years to come her DD will be on the other thread about weird household rules.

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 07:39

Suzie I mean clothes she has worn outside, to the park etc.

Ironfloor269 · 07/07/2019 07:40

You lost me at 'outdoor clothes'.

Mumofone1858 · 07/07/2019 07:41

What happens when you put your socks on? Do you need to hop or can you sit on the bed in outdoor clothes then?

I don't get the outdoor clothes thing BUT on sheet and duvet change day me and husband go to bed at the same time becuase a fresh bed is so nice Blush

I guess everyone has their own fresh sheet quirks!

BillywilliamV · 07/07/2019 07:47

My teens live in and on their beds. My 15yo’s bed is like a swamp, I removed a half-eaten Nutella sandwich and a damp flannel last time I ventured in her room. But it’s her bed, it’s where she hangs out!
She has clean sheets every fortnight.

strawberrypenguin · 07/07/2019 07:47

Let her sit on her own bed then. Nothing wrong with sitting on your bed wearing clothes as long as they aren't covered in mud or something.

Benjispruce · 07/07/2019 07:50

18yr old DD just stripped her bed. She’s been fake tanning. The sheet was like the Turin shroud.

BillywilliamV · 07/07/2019 07:51

Personally I embrace the clean sheets means bath and clean pyjamas rule!
I am also fussy about thread count and pay to have my sheets ironed ( not DD’s)
though I probably wouldn’t iron them myself, which is a bit shaming!

MakeItRain · 07/07/2019 07:56

I'm firmly with the "wtf how is this even a thing" camp Grin At first I thought you meant muddy boots and/or rain soaked coat and thought fair enough.

But it's genuinely never occurred to me that clothes that have simply come in contact with the outside are too contaminated to touch the beds!

Hey ho, each to their own I guess! I'm probably not high up there in the spotless house stakes so maybe I'm not the right person to be commenting. Grin

MashedSpud · 07/07/2019 08:02

Simple install a decontamination unit in your hallway and glue all windows shut so outdoor air can’t seep inside.

Lifeover · 07/07/2019 08:11

Jesus Christ! If she wants to sit on her own bed she has to change into her pjs? What precisely do you think is going to happen if she sits on her bed wearing jeans a t shirt? I think her lying on your bed was prob her way of telling you to get a grip!

soupmaker · 07/07/2019 08:14

Ha, ha I'm with you on the knicker rule. Once off, never, ever back on.

I love getting into bed when it's been changed but to actually be annoyed with your DD for being on the bed is unhinged IMO. If you think that's naughty you can have my pair for 48 hours, that'd put things into perspective.

NavyBlueHue · 07/07/2019 08:19

So if my teen DD has friends over during the day, are they not allowed to sit or lie on her bed chatting with their ‘outdoor’ clothes on?!

Should my daughters guests bring PJ’s to change into for an afternoon sit on her bed?!

Do people actually live this way?! Confused I’m clearly way too relaxed in my outdoor/indoor clothing regime.

Queenoftheashes · 07/07/2019 08:27

For me the worst thing would be my sweaty boyfriend climbing into bed. He’ll sometimes cycle home, be too lazy to shower and go to bed. I can’t bear it. He’s not done it on a clean sheet day. I’d murder him.

Frankola · 07/07/2019 08:33

I love fresh bedding! Sunday's is my fresh bedding day. I wouldn't class her as having ruined it though unless she actually got under the covers. So you may be saved lol

Julykthat · 07/07/2019 08:41

The sheet was like the Turin shroud Grin

I've seen this too in my teens bed but I thought Jill's bed from Jack and Jill (movie).

On the topic of the OP I think that is way too fussy but to each their own (but I am glad I don't live in your household!)

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2019 08:54

nannygoat50 · 07/07/2019 17:20

I
With you totally . I love clean bed nights and would be well pissed off if someone lay on my clean bed with the clothes that they’d had on all day and been to the park in

FairyFestival · 07/07/2019 17:29
