I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

To be honest OP, after the batshit OTTness on this thread, I'm surprised that you're not yet IN your bed with a large G&T and a packet of cookies. Tomorrow you'll wake up with your pillow covered in dribble and the sheets smeared with chocolate and crunchy with crumbs. So you'll have to start all over again.
Enjoy your lovely fresh bed tonight, you've earned it!

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 21:08

^^ IF only there was a like button!

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 21:08

I think I'll get extra batshit points for saying I never eat in bed!

YABU. You can lie ON a clean bed in whatever you want but everyone knows you can only get IN a clean bed if you have had a bath and have clean PJs on. It's the law.
Also bed linen must ALWAYS be ironed. The thought of an unironed duvet cover ruins the who clean sheets scenario for me

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 21:14

She was in. And I'm afraid I don't iron, even for the air bnb!

CyberBroccoli · 06/07/2019 21:16

Iron bed linen?

You have too much time and/or energy.

Mabellavender · 06/07/2019 21:43

I agree slipping into clean sheets after a bath, with freshly shaven legs is a lovely feeling Smile

But I know what op is saying about it not being a luxury... i suppose if you don’t wash your sheets or yourself often then it’s a big deal Grin

Mabellavender · 06/07/2019 21:43

PP not op!

Penguin34 · 06/07/2019 21:47

Only work 25 hours a week so maybe I do!
My 10 month old is in bed by 8 so I do it then. Iron everything, always have.
Hate ironing but love to indulge in really shit tv (think real housewives) while I do once a week!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/07/2019 21:50

Just to add my own personal weirdness to the inside/outside, clean/dirty clothes debate -

I consider knickers to be clean until either the morning following when they were first put on (I wear knickers to bed), OR until they are taken off completely. Down to the ankles = fine, still clean (even if they have been on for a number of hours). Fully off = dirty, even if they were only put on a few minutes before.

And yes, I know this is weird and makes no sense. And is probably way too much information. But I didn’t want @StealthPolarBear to feel she was the only weird MNer.

Ohyesiam · 06/07/2019 22:00

But the whole delicious clean sheet thing only happens one a week, or however often you change sheets. So any other bed lounging is not part of that equation. Making rules about lying on your bed a bit it most of the time.

RoseMartha · 06/07/2019 22:07

OP It is not just you. I dont like me or the kids getting into bed in clothes we wear in the day.

And i am not keen on used school uniform on the top of the duvet either. I am probably just fussy but all of us are different.

Like you that clean bedding feeling is bliss.

CarrotCaked · 06/07/2019 22:12

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius I follow your knicker laws completely. We are kindred minds.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 06/07/2019 22:14

One of Mumsnet's selling points: just when you're feeling a bit disconnected from humanity you come here and read some post that reminds you that some people are truly mad!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/07/2019 22:18

Sanity is overrated, imo.

FannyCann · 06/07/2019 22:22

My DD loves to tease. So as soon as I make the bed with clean sheets she flops on top of it. Then the cat homes in...nothing she like better than a freshly plumped duvet with clean sheets. I've given up tbh. Hmm

Wallywobbles · 06/07/2019 22:23

Outdoor clothes here would be covered in shit or something equally unpleasant. And I'd probably loose it too.

FredaFrogspawn · 06/07/2019 22:24

Knicker rule makes total sense. I could have been wearing a pair for two hours, but if they had to come right off, they wouldn’t be going back on again. Clean pair essential.

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 22:26

Knicker rule people you're mad.
But you're making me feel sane.

If I was really rich I'd pay someone to put fresh bedding on my bed every single day☺️

Pinkblanket · 06/07/2019 22:34

I would never get in my bed (or lie around on the sheet covering my mattress) in the clothes I have been wearing during the day. Ever.

transformandriseup · 06/07/2019 22:38

In the bed, fully clothed? I wouldn’t like this either and I’m normally Hmm at most the mumsnet posts about hygiene.

AliceRR · 06/07/2019 22:47

The knicker rule is strange but true @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

TeeniefaeTroon · 06/07/2019 22:52

I read a book for my son every night in my bed. He is allowed to get under the covers every night except one day a week when the bed has just been changed. I don't want to get into a wrinkly bed on that night 😁

lazylinguist · 06/07/2019 22:55

Are clothes allowed on the clean bed if they've been outdoors on the washing line? I genuinely don't understand the problem with outdoors. Confused Muddy or dirty clothes, sure. But clothes that have just been worn outside?
