I'm cross that the clean bed luxury has been ruined

I've changed our bed today and it was overdue. I put the sheet and pillow back on but the duvet cover is a bit damp so has stayed on the airer.
I just went in to find DD lying on our bed, on the sheet in her outdoor clothes. Angry

Why is clean bed luxury though?

How can you not know this?

CyberBroccoli · 06/07/2019 19:49

You can't lie down on a bed? Not so much

Can't lie down on someone else's newly sheeted bed? Absufuckinglutely.

That moment is reserved.

placemats · 06/07/2019 19:50

I understand the personal choice of clean sheets, clean body and/or pj's in bed being a gorgeous sensation.

But luxury?

For the purposes of doubt I strip the beds and hoover the mattresses as well. To me this is a duty of care. Not a luxury.

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 19:51

Totally agree Cyber, a freshly laundered bed is a sacred bed reserved only for the nightly guardians of such a hallowed place.

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 19:54

It’s a luxury because it’s not a common occurrence, well not in this household anyway 😂

mossmurray · 06/07/2019 19:54

@starzig Really??

Glitterblue · 06/07/2019 19:56

I'm with you on this one OP. It feels wrong to lie on a sheet, especially a clean sheet, in anything other than pj's. I love a clean bed. I was brought up not to lie or sit on the beds at all, maybe it's come from that.

CyberBroccoli · 06/07/2019 19:58

placemats perhaps you're not sensitive enough to appreciate the sheer poetry of slipping into fresh sheets?

If you don't appreciate these seemingly small luxurious delights in life then you're missing out.

CyberBroccoli · 06/07/2019 20:00

It’s a luxury because it’s not a common occurrence

@Winenotttea certainly not three times a week in my house! Life is too short...

Fantababy · 06/07/2019 20:00

I love getting into clean sheets but shouldn't have thought that a child lying on the outside of the bed, regardless of what she's wearing, would have too much impact on the clean sheet feeling.

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 20:03

Not another one, she was IN the bed, IN it!

Fantababy · 06/07/2019 20:04

Sorry, just realised she was IN not ON. This is a far longer thread than I thought or would have expected.

Becca8675309 · 06/07/2019 20:05

I never let anyone who has sat down on the Tube or a bus, lie on my bed in their outdoor clothes. Yuk.

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 20:06

Sorry Fanta, didn’t mean to be rude Blush

wonkylegs · 06/07/2019 20:06

I would still consider your sheets fresh & clean so I don't think we are ever going to be on the same page for this one.

AliceRR · 06/07/2019 20:08

YANBU I wouldn’t be happy about that either

RiftGibbon · 06/07/2019 20:21

On top of the cover/sheet is fine. Under the covers though would irritate me.

Ivestoppedreadingthenews · 06/07/2019 20:21

This is a hilarious concept

nicelyneurotic · 06/07/2019 20:23

I'm with you OP (see username!). I'd be cross but only takes a minute to change to a fresh sheet.

lazylinguist · 06/07/2019 20:39

I'm with the majority here, and think it's bizarre. Here's what I particularly don't understand... what about the bits of you that aren't covered by your outdoor clothes? For example if you've been wearing shorts and a t-shirt, surely your arms and calves and head and neck have been just as contaminated by 'outdoors' as your outdoor clothes have. Are they allowed on the clean bed if you get into your pyjamas? I guess your arms and calves might be covered by your clean pujamas, but your head won't be.

lazylinguist · 06/07/2019 20:40

Less long-winded version: why are your outdoor clothes any dirtier than your own body is?

StreetwiseHercules · 06/07/2019 20:42

“Yes I prefer jot to lie on the sheet in clothes I've been outside in. I don't think that's so unusual!”

It is!!!

Winenotttea · 06/07/2019 20:48

I think what this thread is telling us is that we are all different, I’m with the OP, others are against. That’s fine, our differences are what make the world go around.

I still find it totally bizarre that someone would get into bed during the day (or night) in jeans 😂

StealthPolarBear · 06/07/2019 20:49

Thank you very much TheStakeIsNotThePower. Hopefully your DD cna also confirm our house is not a picture of cleanliness (unless grandparents are about to arrive). In fact it's usually a tip!

For the nice things you said about DD and about me I mean.
